Damage was caused to a small area of my lawn by a contractor whom I did not research on Angie's List. I hired "Nyes Nursery & Landscaping Inc" to repair the lawn damage caused by the other contractor. Nyes Nursery & Landscaping Inc. came over to my house within about an hour after I requested a prompt estimate. I told him I would hire him on the spot if the price was right. He told me he would send a man over to perform the work as soon as it was weather-feasible to do so. They did as promised. Daniel, the man that did the work, was thorough, polite, and professional. He did a complete job and the final product was what I had hoped for. The scar was gone and the terrain was graded to its prior slope. I'd hire this company again. These guys are great and the real deal. Matt and Brian exceeded our expectations and delivered the project on time and on budget included re-grading with several tri axles of top soil, Hydro-seeding grass, New Beds with Evergreens, Knockout Roses, and a variety of perennial grasses. They even re-dug in our sump pump lines properly. Matt was able to provide a simulation of the project before they started and it is spot on to how it looks now. These guys have a lot of experience and a green thumb too. Brian is an expert in Tree pruning and installation. They have a passion and it show. Think the property brothers of PA for landscaping. We currently use them now to do property maintenance for lawns and fertilization for our home and business.

A crew from Nyes arrived on time and immediately went to work. As it turned out this same crew had done work at my previous house to improve the yard look when we were selling. They completed their task within 2 hours without a break. The row of arborvitae was especially nicely done because the worker compensated for the sloping hill and kept the top of the trees level. Great work.

Contacted the owner, Matt, via phone to schedule an estimate. He showed up on the appointed day, listened to what we were looking for and took photos of the areas involved. He provided a detailed estimate well within the timeframe promised. The estimate also included enhancement of the photos he took, showing the particular plants he had in mind, and how the areas would actually look. This was very helpful. We signed/returned the contract with half down, half due upon completion. We received a call a few days later scheduling the work. Two workers arrived at the time promised. They were courteous, professional and friendly. Very pleased with the job. We received the final bill 3-4 days later, completing the project. Total time from contacting them to finish of project was approximately 3 weeks.

They did a great job. They were very good with working with the needs of the homeowner for the landscaping.

Since we did not know what we wanted to do the owner came out and took several pictures of our house. He then emailed several suggestions on what we could do including the plants they intended to use. I could change certain plants if I did not like them. The owner told me what it was going to cost and when he would be here to do the work. Once he put it in I was completely disappointed I had not done it years earlier. It made a difference; people stopped to look at it. Then we called them back the next year to come and do our back yard. He put a beautiful stone wall in the front and used the same stone in the back. He is willing to do any part of the job and will only do the design if that is what you want. They did a beautiful job in the back as well. I had them put the dirt in and then put the plants in myself. When one of the plants they put in did not come in the next year they came back and replaced it. He was very willing to work with us if we wanted to revise the design. He also met our completion deadline as he promised.

Had Matthew come out to give me an estimate on some landscaping and hardscaping projects. We walked the property and discussed what I had in mind. Matthew gave me some good ideas that I was happy to incorporate. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He then did measuring, left me a catalog of hardscaping choices and said he would get me the estimate in 1-2 weeks.. As I was going away for 9 days that was fine with me. A week after my return I still had not received the estimate. I emailed the company to let them know. I received no reply back. I then waited a week and called the company. I was told the message would be passed on to Matthew. It is now Aug. 10 and I have yet to receive a call back or any type of estimate. I find this to be very unprofessional. No matter how busy a company is, then can at least take the time to return a call and let prospective clients know they will be unable to perform the work. I called 3 other companies and had estimates within days. I will be going with one of those companies to perform the work.

The estimate was fair. Their design was very nominal compared to the one I used which is Blouch's Landscaping Inc. Blouch’s was much more expensive but I got a lot more plants. They were very professional. They clearly knew what they were doing. I just didn’t care for the design work. They were absolutely fine but just that Blouch’s was much more creative. The resulting design work was average. It lacked the “Wow factor”.

They do a very good job of landscaping the land and coming up with a plan for you. They don’t just throw their ideas but they also get your ideas. It went pretty well. They did such a good job that I don’t need them to come back.

I use them every year. I have been very happy with them. Their prices are reasonable. The work is excellent. The price was very reasonable for what they did.

The overall experience was good. The estimate for the service was fair. Very efficient service and professional results. Very pleased.

When Matthew Nye came out to our house, he was prompt, very thorough, very polite, and went the extra mile to make some suggestions and be sure that we understood our soil and fertility disposition. He even explained the proper maintenance for new grass, and how we might better our chances of growth in our problem areas. Note that he did all of this without our agreement for him to even perform the work! We received a follow up estimate via email within 2 days (over the weekend!), and attached to the quote and contract was also an in depth summary of how to care for our lawn as he had explained when he visited our home. We had another landscaping company come out who quoted us just over $150 less, but they were far less professional and didn't seem to care as much as Matthew had, so we decided to contract with Nye's Nursery and Landscaping. We mailed our deposit (1/2 down), and I had followed up with an email alerting him to our intention. Before even receiving the check; only receiving our email interest, he put us on the books. Originally, we were advised that, due to the seasonal business picking up, we would see him by the end of the month. Due to some schedule changes and some imminent rain delay, we actually received a call a full two weeks earlier than we had expected advising that the Nye's team would be out the following day! I was impressed with that type of responsibility--in order to avoid being "late" in the work, due to weather that they could not control, they pushed their schedules up to accommodate getting things done early! I work days, so I was not able to be there, and they assured me that this would not be a problem. When I arrived home the following day, I found a receipt of the deposit in the mailbox, the work had been done exactly how we discussed, the soil had been taken care of (tilled), and new grass seed was laid. It has only been two weeks, and we have a good grass spread that is growing strong (this seasons' rain I'm sure has helped), when it does rain, we get no dampness in our basement (preliminary observation--only time and torrential downpours will prove this out), and the backyard is looking quite well. In our final statement, we found the remainder of the amount that had been agreed upon, and another flyer advising us on how to best care for our lawn. Awesome!

They did a good job. They are reliable and they came when they said they were going to come. They make sure everything was collected.

In November, 2009, Mr. Nye came to our house to discuss our plans and offer suggestions, take photos, etc. His ideas were good, however, we never heard back from him. We emailed a few times requesting a quote, and he apologized and said he would send it. We never received anything. We stopped by his display at the Home Builders show in March, and reminded him that he never got us his estimate (from 4 months ago). He promised he'd send it to us in 48 hours. We never heard from him. We had planned our project early, and were hoping to avoid a last minute rush to completion, but, we had to start our contractor search all over again, and of course, most were already booked up for a project we wanted completed by May 2010. We went with another contractor, who did a wonderful job.

It went very well. We actually had a neighbor do something similar but our project took two days and their project is on the sixth day. They were efficient and accurate, and the owner actually came out to inspect it. He picked up a couple of details that he’ll fix but we didn’t even see them. They worked continuously, they seemed to have all of the equipment here when they needed it, and they made sure that they had permission to go into the neighbor’s yard if they needed to. They came in pretty closely to other estimates. I would definitely use them again.
