He communicated with us at every step of the process, and even amid some bad weather, he worked with us to make sure the project was done in a timely manner. We trusted JD to work on site without oversight knowing the job would be done to the specifications without error. I appreciated JD's willingness to contact me with any hurdles prior to completing the work so to avoid rework. JD Tile as a company takes great pride in the quality of the work and in the case of a small grout issue at the end, it was fixed immediately. JD Tile will not have the lowest bid in your process. You get what you pay for and my experience with JD has proven that to be true.
Description of Work: Demolition of master bathroom and guest bath; installation of subway tile shower (master) prepped for framless glass doors and shower/bath combo tile surround (guest bath); tile flooring in master bath, guest bath, and laundry.

Description of Work: Our kitchen tile floor was not installed properly. After 12 years, the tiles were no longer sticking to the cement board. The grout was coming out. Jon removed the old tile and cement board without removing our kitchen cabinets. He leveled the subfloor then put down a new liner and new tile and grout.

+ -1 moreI called JD Tile and asked if I could obtain an estimate for having the tile replaced in our kitchen. There was a crack in our old tile floor due to settlement which ran almost entirely across the room. There were also some chips in the old tile in various places. Jon scheduled an appointment quickly and showed up on time on the agreed upon date. Jon explained what could be done about the settlement crack and what all would be entailed about removing the old tile and replacing it with new tile. It is a labor intensive, time consuming and messy process. Jon provided an estimate, which was less than what other contractors had bid for the job. Jon was patient with us as we took our time finding the tile we wanted in the kitchen. Once we found the tile we negotiated dates to have this done. Jon and his crew showed up on the agreed date and got right to work. The whole process took about a week. I'm not a tile expert but my son-in-law used to do tile work and he was impressed with how level the floor was. He said it was, in his estimation, a good job. We did have an issue with getting some epoxy off of a few of the tiles but Jon worked at this until we were satisfied with the final product. Jon is willing to do what it takes to satisfy the customer. If need be he would have replaced some tiles, but that was not necessary. I would recommend JD Tile to anyone who requires tile work. Jon is responsive, communicative, reliable and dedicated to making his customers happy.

Here's why: 1) John showed up ON TIME, every time, starting from our first meeting for him to get the scope of the work and the continued to be punctual, yes, you read that right, he was ON TIME every single time he came to my house to work on the job. 2) John and his associate, Jon1 & Jon2, were respectful of my home. They took good precautions with my Chinese wool rugs and other furnishings they had to work around. 3) JD Tile communicated well, even allowing me to text, and texting quickly in return. 4) When they had to remove a toilet to remove the old floor and install the new, they noticed that the guts of the toilet were old and would start to fail so they bought new guts and replaced them for me. NOT ONLY THAT, since the toilet in my other bathroom was the same age and would likely have begun to start leaking soon, and even though they weren't doing work in that bathroom, John also bought new guts for that toilet and replaced it as well. My husband and I were not a bit uncomfortable leaving John or his associates alone in our house. I have referred several friends to John as a result of his good work and character. Feel confident in hiring JD Tile.
Description of Work: Two showers were REgrouted, one shower received a new floor and drain, one bathroom received a new floor, one closet had tiles retro fitted to fill in where carpentry work had been removed, kitchen backsplash was repaired and parts of it were replaced after appliances were upgraded.

+ -1 moreInitially, Jon responded quickly, setting a date to come to my home. After he didn't show the following week, I sent him an email asking when he could come to review my project and offer an estimate. After responding to my email again, another date was set and again Jon didn't show. Finally, after more than 3 weeks had elapsed he finally came. He discussed the project with us, took some measurements and left. I never heard from him again. No follow-up, no quote, nothing. Highly unprofessional in my opinion. If he didn't want the job, all he had to do was say so.
Description of Work: I was requesting a quote for a total bathroom remodel. Installing a tiled floor, shower walls, etc., in place of a tub.

Description of Work: Our existing tile shower was leaking causing damage to the drywall. Jon and the general contractor removed the existing floor, shower, and tub and installed a new floor, shower tile, tile wainscoting, and tile backsplash. Jon found a general contractor for us to do the non tile work.

+ 2 moreThe finished product is beautiful. I don't see how it could be any better. He implemented my vision exactly as I described it. It has been two months since the bathroom was finished. Yet every time I go in there I still can't believe it's my bathroom. Jon also helped got a very good general contractor for all the non tile work.
Description of Work: Jon helped us with a complete bathroom remodel. We replaced everything except the cabinets and the toilet. Jon helped us with the design and was extremely patient. For his part, he put in a tile shower, tile wainscoting around the tub, a tile backsplash behind the vanities, and a new tile floor. The price was less than one of the big remodeler's in town.

+ -1 moreThis was a GREAT experience! We had ripped out our 1998-era marble fireplace surround and wanted it replaced with tile. We picked a hexagonal mosaic tile for the surround and a 12x12 for the hearth. Jon did a fabulous job. He is a true craftsman. He has a great work ethic, takes his time, cuts no corners, and produces a fabulous result. He was extremely responsive and accommodating when it came to scheduling. He communicates promptly and effectively. We had a deadline and he made sure we met it. The fireplace tile drew rave reviews at a recent family party. If you have a tile job you want done right, Jon is worth every penny and more.

+ -1 moreJohn showed on a Saturday to work with our schedule for the appraisal and seemed very knowledgeable. He had a few ways that may fix the problem and explained it to us very well. We hired and we explained we needed this fixed in a timely manner. He came on the weekend to assist and do the project. He did explain he was busy with other projects and if we wanted it done he had to do the project over the weekend. He had to make special parts and also managed to match everything better than expected. We have future projects and will take his next opening to hire again. If all contractors were like this we would not need Angies List.
Description of Work: We had loose tiles at the entrance of a shower and some mold issues. Needed someone to fix someone else's mistakes.

If you have any doubts about reaching out to JD Tile for a quote, or in fact, hiring them to work on your project, I'm writing this to put your mind at ease. Our 20-year old hall bathroom needed an update. I called multiple tile contractors for review and quote. Jon, the owner of JD Tile, was different than the rest. We met at the house, and it became evident that this is a person who truly enjoys his craft. Jon took the time to not only go over our needs but provide some design insights from his 20+ years of experience in the industry. From there we got his quote. A quote which was very detailed; describing the statement of work and itemized costs for all involved. It was far and above anything else we received from other contractors. The price was competitive, and my wife and I both felt very comfortable with Jon's approach and discussions. We both knew that JD Tile would be the contractor of choice. Upon choosing to work with JD Tile, reliable communications took place throughout the project. Jon and I were able to work out all the scheduling, tile order, and additional follow-up visits to make sure we were on the same page. He took the time to help further with the design and in fact suggested a few other options for us to consider. It was never a pushy sale or one to just pad his wallet. We agreed to many of his ideas. When it came to completing the work, Jon and his colleague showed up on-time and were very conscientious of our home. Drop cloths were always in place, and they left the workspace neat and orderly each night. Every day we knew what to expect, and we continued to work through standard layout and design ideas. His experience and dedication to detail were very evident in the outcome. In all, he completed the job on time and did a fantastic job. Jon stopped back a few days after finishing the job to finalize payment and review the overall project. He provided a final documentation package and bill. The numbers matched our expectations. Obviously, we are happy to have JD Tile complete this job. Unfortunately, in looking at the newly updated bathroom, we got to thinking about our old master bath. We will start with JD Tile when we are ready to tackle that job.
Description of Work: We gutted our 2nd-floor hall bathroom except for the existing tub. We hired JD tile to tile the bath surround area, other adjacent walls, a separate accent wall tile band, and the floor. I did the demo work, and Jon and his team took care of the tile backing board and floor underlayment membrane before setting the tile. Also, Jon installed a 12" x 20" horizontal niche in the shower area.

Description of Work: Our kitchen was completely ruined from a 2nd floor water leak that went on for 4 days while we were on vacation. I googled, researched, called & went everywhere on the internet to find a independent owner to put a new ceramic tile floor in my kitchen. I couldn't find ANYONE.....TILL.....I just happened to check on Craigslist! BINGO!!!!!!!! Found JD TILE, called JD & he came over that Sunday. He came over....the house was a mess....NO KITCHEN except cabinets. Told him what we wanted to have done. We talked budget, ideas (BOY...did he have GREAT ideas) & after about 90 minutes sitting with my husband & myself and talking about just general things, getting to know JD & vice versa.......HE WAS HIRED!!!!!!! JD TILE was able to start my kitchen in approximately 2 weeks, could not wait. JD & JOHN were prompt, it was winter, so they were able to do all their cutting, mixing & storing all supplies in my garage for the entire time of the completion of the job. The 2 weeks getting the work done with JD TILE was such a great experience! The 1st day on the job, we were having lunch & invited JD & John to join us.........WELL.....it became a lunch date till the completion of the job, which we have NEVER done with any contractor. Make a long story short, kitchen floor was completed.....which was a large area which included eating area, sun room, mud room, long hall & powder room. IT WAS GORGEOUS!!!!!! Exactly what I wanted & in our budget. I wanted the back splash done at a later time & JD TILE did that also. I wanted tiles that would match the floor. Looked everywhere.........could not find anything that I liked & told JD about my disappointment. He came over, I had tile left from the floor job, which I absolutely love. He said, he would take a few home...they are 16 x 16 and he would cut them down to 4 x 4's and I also had a piece of the granite counter top left over and he took that, shaved it down to the thickness of the ceramic tile and sized them to 2 x 2's for accent pieces in the back splash. All I can say is OMG!!!!! My kitchen is now on his website as the main pictures......what a honor! Almost like being in House Beautiful. ps...forgot that when they were pulling the old flooring up by the sliding glass door. The wood sub-flooring was rotted from a water leak around the door & they ripped up all the rotted wood & put down new flooring.

They are very meticulous and you can tell they want to make sure their customer is completely satisfied with their work. We were given an accurate, honest cost and time estimate in the beginning and they were very easy to work with when we added a feature wall to the master bath project. I will be using JD Tile for any other tile projects in my home and I recommend them to anyone that asks.

+ 0 moreJon listened to all of our ideas we showed him on ideas for the shower design. He framed a radius arch feature area and held it up in the shower to see if it was to scale. He started and worked through till the entire installation was finished. Every day my wife went over various ideas and made decisions working directly with Jon. He will incorporate your ideas on the fly! He will give you the highest quality shower possible with creative and design offerings. We like the idea of having a tile contractor with lots of design experience knowing what looks good but even more important functions. For the shower we have now and the added value to our home the cost was more than fair. High quality craftsmanship. We will eventually be doing all of our showers and JD Tile is the only tile contractor we would consider, his uncle even came out and fixed our heating system when all the other contractors wanted for us to put a whole new system in and it wasn't necessary. Honesty goes a long way with us.
Description of Work: Jon installed a shower for us recently. This is the fourth tile project Jon has done for us over a 15 year time frame. My wife is extremely meticulous by nature and quite honestly Jon is the only craftsman who could possibly measure up to her expectations.This is the first shower project for us. Jon used travertine and created a very unique shower space for our master bedroom. He is clean, creative, skilled, timely, and patient at all times. At one point some on the site changes in the design were needed and some additional materials needed to be ordered. At every step Jon is all about doing whatever it takes to make the project better. Many contractors would be more focused on their time commitment. Jon is always first about doing the best job possible. He crafted some unique elements out of large stones he procured. While the stone work is gorgeous even more important is Jon double engineers everything under the stone that you do not see. The result is the shower will be waterproof for the duration of our lives anyway. No shortcuts is just an instinct for Jon. If you need tile work performed then consider it your good fortune to have discovered JD Tile. Nobody does it better.

The previous contractor had been hired by my builder, and this time I wanted an EXPERT in tile field to do the work and that is why I hired JD Tile. When he came to do the actual backsplash he did great work and was very respectful of our home. It was never a mess and he was able to get the work done quickly - dedicating his days so that it would be less disruptive. The quality of the work is fantastic, we had him do white subway tile for our kitchen backsplash. The corners are cut perfectly and around the window looks great as well. We liked his work and him so much we asked him for another estimate for our bathroom while her was at our house. I would recommend JD tile - Jon is very good at his craft and was personally, wonderful to work with!

Extremely neat, reliable, punctual, respectful and professional with an absolutely top-notch end product. The work done was completed early, and Jon provided design input along the way. His flexibility and desire to please his customers was especially obvious to us as he suggested multiple ideas throughout the job process, and was comfortable accommodating our requests on the fly. A true professional, Jon's commitment to staying current on trends, materials and techniques was also apparent as he regularly attends industry conferences to learn. We also felt comfortable allowing Jon access to our home while we were not home, which is a rarity for us. We'd hire JD Tile again.

I felt I needed someone with skill to do the job described because I did not have any additional ceramic tile to use, if one got damaged. I also recognized this was a very small job, and it may be difficult to find someone willing to do the work. I must admit I was slightly apprehensive because of the review stating Jon had not returned a call. My experience was just the opposite! Jon got back to me the same day, and even found the time to work my small job in the very next day. Jon acknowledged that even though it was a small job, he knew how important it was to me. Jon was very polite, got right to work, and charged the exact amount he had quoted--one hour's labor = $45. The space he cut provides enough room for me to remove the heater cover. No tile was damaged in the process. The cut is precisely where I requested it. John also cleaned-up after the job as best he could--tile dust everywhere. I wiped down the entire bathroom ceiling to floor twice! If you're looking for a true tile guy, give JD Tile a call. He does return calls!!
Description of Work: We're renovating a recently purchased home. The former homeowner installed the ceramic wall tile right on top of the baseboard radiator cover. The cover was in poor condition, and I wanted to replace it. This could not be done without cutting the wall tile away from the cover. Jon used his grinder to remove approximately 1/4 inch of the tile in a section spanning 5 feet long above the radiator. He also did some touch-up work where the grout had cracked and reinstalled a loose wall tile I had removed.
