I was thoroughly impressed with Don's knowledge and honesty with replacing my windows. He came out to the house and gave us an estimate, wanted no money up front, said we can pay him when the job was done and we were satisfied. His crew came out, replaced the windows, cleaned up after themselves and were done in a day. They arrived promptly and worked throughout the day. Would definitely use this company again for my next project.

Everything went extremely well. Don, the owner, came and explained our options and provided an estimate. We agreed and he ordered the ProVia steel and glass entry after one of his employees confirmed the measurements. Within a month the door arrived and was installed. The two men who installed the door were great. They both have been with Suburban over 30 years. Suburban Home Improvement was one of the best contractors that I have ever used. They are honest , fair and do great work.

Don the owner of Suburban Home Improvement met with us for the initial estimate and final contract. He was also available and extremely responsive anytime we had a question(s). Both of his crews (roofing and siding) were very professional and courteous. They left our property spotless upon completion of both jobs. We had a couple very minor tweaks that need addressed (spotlight wiring and some door flashing that came loose). One call to the office and they were out in a day or two to fix everything. Don is a stand-up guy, true to his word. I have recommended he and his company several time and will continue to due so. If we ever purchase a home that needs new siding or a roof Suburban Home Improvement is the company I will call.

Absolutely loved this provider! Don, the owner, was extremely patient and helpful in the decision making/planning stages of this adventure. Debbie, the office manager, was also extremely friendly and helpful. The windows and front door were put in weeks prior to the siding installation. That work was short and sweet, and I was pleased with the end result. My actual siding crew, managed by Ray, arrived in the afternoon of Monday, Sept 16th, and immediately set to work removing my old siding, etc. The guys were very nice, answered all my questions, kept me updated, and worked their butts off. They came back early Tues and Wed, and finished Thurs morning. Through the entire process the crew was extremely professional and VERY helpful. I feel they went above and beyond to assist with problems (drain in the ground from downspout was totally clogged) and offer good advice. Don was also involved throughout the whole process, and on site on several occasions. I absolutely plan on using this provider again when I have additional work done on my house. I would highly recommend you talk to Don and seriously consider his company for home repair and improvement!

We are pleased with the work Suburban Home Improvement did on our home and would recommend them. After meeting with several siding contractors (all from Angie's List), we chose Suburban based on the presentation given to us by Don Pohlig, the owner. He was very informative and not at all a "pressure" salesman. The crew was hard working, respectful and kept the work area clean on a daily basis. There were some minor issues upon job completion which were handled to our satisfaction.

I called the provider on 5-20-2013 at 8:55 am and spoke with Debbie. She took my information and set up an appointment for Don Pohlig, the company owner, to meet at my house on 5-23-2013 at 11:00 am. Don arrived on the scheduled date promptly at 11:00 am. We walked around the house as I explained what I was looking to have done and Don explained how these things could be accomplished. We then went back into the house where Don showed me samples of the materials that would be used and the techniques used to apply them. He then went back outside to make measurements. He presented me with an estimate asking if I had any questions. When Don left after spending over an hour with me I felt very that I had a very good understanding of what I could expect. Don was very friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and understanding. My wife and I had considered several proposals and decided to go with Suburban Home Improvement. I contacted the company and accepted the proposal. Don returned to the house on 5-30-2013 to write up the agreement and insisted on going over everything again with my wife present so that she too would understand all that was going to be done. We signed the agreement and work was scheduled to begin sometime in mid-July depending on the weather. family I was called on 7-10-13 by a company representative and asked if it would be OK for them to begin work on 7-17-13 to which I agreed. The installer, Ron, arrived before 8:00 am on the agreed to date and began work immediately. Only one crew member was there on the first day due to a medical emergency with the other crew member. Despite there only being one installer and the 90 degree, high humidity day, Ron was able to get an amazing amount of work completed on this first day. Both crew members were present each subsequent day and it only took them a total of 8 days to complete all of the work and perform the clean up. The entire house was covered with a water repelland underlayment house wrap followed by a foam insulation board that conformed to the contours of the siding and finally the vinyl siding itself. All soffit, facia and trim were covered and all window trim wrapped in aluminum. A vinyl handrail was installed around the perimeter of the front porch and a handrail was installed down the back steps. The installation team was very knowledgeable and skilled. They were also friendly and courteous, continually asking me if I had any questions during the installation process. I would highly recommend Suburban Home Improvement and would use them again in the future.

Excellent job from start to finish.

I called to set up an estimate, and was able to get an appointment the same week. Don arrived at my house punctually. He sat down with my husband and I to go over how vinyl windows work, what warrants good quality, what isn?t so good, and provided us with a wealth of knowledge prior to showing us the products he sells. He measured all of our 21 windows and gave us 2 quotes based on the types of windows we were looking at. I had a few estimates given to me before calling Suburban Home Improvement, and the quotes Don gave us were the best we had seen from any company. He was so helpful and answered all of our questions. We signed with him the same day. A couple of weeks later, one of the workers came out to take fine measurements of the windows. He was in and out within 20 minutes. Once the windows were ready, Suburban gave us a call and set up the installation dates. They told us that it may take up to 2 days to completely install 21 windows. On the installation day, the men showed up on time and completed the job in one day! They cleaned up after themselves, and the windows look beautiful. We ordered the half-screens with our windows (the kind you can move up and down, it does not cover the entire window). A couple weeks after the installation, I noticed that some of the screens were not flush in the bottom corners of the windows. I called, and scheduled an appointment with someone to come out and look at it. The man was able to fix them right there. While he was at it, he checked all the windows and also spritzed them with WD-40 so that they move more smoothly. I am happy with my purchase, and the service was and is fantastic. I would definitely recommend Suburban Home Improvement for window replacement jobs.

I wish we would have know about them for other projects earlier because my wife and I were both very pleased not only with their finished product and perfect clean up but with everything else. Unfortunately, this was the first time we ever used them, and we are definitely going to use them again.

Don gave us an estimate and recommendations for the type of window to meet our needs - energy efficient, quality products. The price was excellent. We were coordinating this with some other renovations projects and they expedited our job to get the windows in on time. The workers did a great job and we have beautiful energy efficient windows as a result. Everyone who has come by compliments us on them.

They were on time, they were professional. They kept everything clean and neat. They answered all of our questions.

Roofing was removed and replaced over a 3 day period. I was at work while work was completed so was not around to watch the work. Some minor debris was left in the shrubbery around the house, not a lot , but more than I would have liked. A small dumpster with rubber tires so as to not damage driveway was used which they rented for collection of the old shingles etc. Price was in the middle of the 5 estimates I obtained. I previously used Suburban for entry door and sliding glass doors, which we were satisfied with, probably influenced my decision to use them for roofing.

the job was performed in a workman like fashion. the crew arrived earley in the morrning after calling the day before. also ask don if they would install gutter guards i had previously purchased and he said it would be no problem. i also appreciated the follow up by don thanking me for the business and providing self addressed stamped envlopes to mail in the warrenties. i deffinitlly would recomend don and and his crew

For the scope and challenges this job gave Suburban to accomplish, they provided quality work, that was professional, on-time and a suitable price. The job went very well. They worked quickly yet with quality that showed their experience at their job. When getting estimates, the meeting was very professional, on time and provided good consulting for the scope of work. The work was performed on time and within the promises based on the bid. Added quality was provided by Suburban with their extra attention to properly installing the soffit which required extra time on their part, at no complaint or added costs. Minor comment - A little more attention to cleanup would have been a positive. , Only a few few very minor touches, caulking which I missed during my final check out of the job and couple of gutter seams to re-seal for small drips. Summary, materials were a good quality for pricing, job was in professional manner and fully met what was agreed upon.

The outside of my house needed some serious work. Most of my windows didn't work properly, the siding was an ugly harvest gold and the detached garage roof was in sad need of repair. Don came to my house twice before the work was started; once to assess what needed to be done and to pick out the products; the second time to finalize the plan. He had also given me addresses of completed jobs and in doing so I fell in love with the color siding I choose by seeing the color for myself. He then sent someone to assess the detached garage to make sure it was sound enough to have the work done. He was more concerned with the quality of the end project rather than do the work on a structure that was not worth doing. Luckily the garage had good bones. The first job done were the windows. A crew of three men replaced 10 windows in one day. They were professional; laid down covers on my floors and furniture; cleaned up inside and outside of the house; took the old windows away and were able to save the old window blocks on one window and even stacked them for me. No problems what so ever. The windows look beautiful !; the cocking was done perfectly. The second job was the roofing. A crew of 5 men finished the job in 2 1/2 days. Again they were professional, cleaned up after themselves on a daily basis and went over the driveway several times each day to pick up any stray nails. I happened to be home on the days they were there and was able to see how well the job was being done. The external garage roof was the one in need of the most repair; 2 layers of shingle and it needed all new plywood placed down. Again everything went smoothly and the roofs, especially the external garage looks great. As the roofers were finishing up, the siders arrived. There was a crew of 7. In less than 7 hours the had the siding removed and cleaned up. They also had a sheathing in place to protect the house. Again I was home for most of the work being done and again they were professional, cleaned up after themselves. It was like a symphony to see them work. It took several days to complete the work due to mother nature not cooperating. I also have all new soffit, facia, gutters and downspouts. Everything was properly installed. Don was at the house almost every day to see that things were done properly . But that was not all. A gentleman came to the house after the snow had melted to pick up any debris that may have been missed and then a quality inspector arrived to inspect the roofing job.He even climbed on both roofs to inspect them ! I am pleased to say that I cannot think of one problem that I had in the whole process. I will whole heartedly recommend Suburban Home Improvement to my friends and co-workers.

We called 3 contractors from the List. Don Pohlig of Suburban came and gave us the estimate, A date was set for the work.He ran into trouble from the start He had trouble finding a roofer to do the job. It took longer to get the job started.but he kept us informed the whole way. We have an large old house with steep roofs so it would be a pretty tough job. Don did not give up on the job. He had given us his word and that was important to him. He found roofers willing to do the job and they were wonderful. They came early in the morning and worked till dark. They even tried to work in the rain. They were great workers. They cleaned up every day after they were finished. They were so picky about everything being perfect. We were thrilled with the job. The most important aspect of the whole job was the honesty of Don Pohlig. We have had work done by contractors before and the work was not always done on time or the way it should have been. Don didn't just bid the job he followed thru the whole way. He was honest with us to a fault and both my husband & I were so impressed with him. No wonder he has been in business so long. I tell everyone needing a roof to call him. I do not believe he made a good profit on this job but he stuck to his bid.. That is so rare. Any work we need done in the future you can be sure we will call Suburban. Thanks Angie for Suburban. By the way our roof is totally awsome!!! .

I was more than impressed with the final product! The amount of detail that went into my home exterior was exactly on par with what I was hoping for and more, and trust me I am picky about detail. It was raining off and on the entire time that Don's crew worked on my siding, yet they made sure during the times of sunshine, never to bite off more than they could chew. Every workable day they made sure to complete the region they exposed to avoid water damage throughout the night. They never rushed the quaility I was promised! I believe the fact that his crew took their time during those rainy few weeks, even though they were undoubtly loosing profits with each additional day, proves to me that Suburban Home Improvements is a truly professional company that stands behind their word! I strongly recommend anyone to take a look at my property themselves if they have any doubts on choosing a solid, ethical contractor.

The team showed up on time. The worked showning respect to my family and neighbors. They cleaned up daily and left the house in a professional manner. They even worked around a nest of baby birds not disturbing them. Our family dog loved them.

Ecellent. Installed all windows in about 5 hours and cleaned everything up and did a great job of caulking windows.

The owner came and spent a great deal of time showing us selections and going over the product. He was extremely polite and professional. They came to do the work when expected and did a fine job.

Everything was very good. They came when they said they would; they were very polite. The owner showed interest & came out when the work was being done.

We opted for siding from this company even though it was much higher than our previous estimate because of the quality. We were given more options and decided to proceed. The house was wrapped with a plastic type wrap and then the siding was put on on piece at a time with an insulation that fit under the siding . I had my windows retrimmed with antique white trim versus the white vinyl that was applied with the windows. The siding team was colorful and easy to deal with. They worked through the worst of the hot days and I understood completely that some days needed to be cut short. These guys love dogs and made fast friends with my Suzie. She is a good judge of character and I felt extremely comfortable with the siding crew.

Initially, I had some difficulties getting in contact with them. Once I did that, the gentleman, who was the owner, showed up and was very nice, professional, and brought materials to show me. However, I got the idea that the company didn’t really want my business. He told me that he’d get back in touch with me after he spoke with a few people. About a week later, I called the office and the receptionist told me they don’t even do that type of work. Ultimately, I didn’t receive the estimates until a few weeks after I was told I’d get them. I would like to use this company, since I like the materials they would use, but I’m hesitant because of their delay with getting back to me with the information that I needed.

When I called to schedule and appointment for estimates on siding repair, roof replacement and a patio door, I was informed that they "don't do siding or roofing repair/replacement unless they had installed it originally". So I set an appointment for the next week to get a patio door quote. The day of the appointment, in an apologetic call, the appointment was cancelled because "Don had to go out of town". We rescheduled for a week later. In a few days a packet came containing a patio door brochure. Then, again on the day of the appointment, a phone call...message left on voicemail: "I'm very sorry but we just can't go south of the river to come to you. We're very busy and most of our work is in the North Hills area. I sent you a brochure and our prices start at XXX dollars." Unfortunately, I have a custom-size patio door and cannot make a decision without someone coming to quote. Basically, I wasted two weeks waiting for two cancelled appointments.It would have been helpful if they had outlined in their information the criteria by which they choose...or refuse...their jobs.
