 + -1 moreThe crew was prompt and friendly.Dave and the crew were always pleasant while they worked and even put up with my two jack russells. The work was very good and though they were here for several days the area was very clean when the ended for the day. The vanity in the bathroom was a difficult install due to large molding in the bathroom that I didn't wish to be damaged, but we were able to discuss and come up with a solution that worked perfectly. They always arrived when the said they would and cleaned up completely every night before they left. I have some more small jobs that I will be calling on them to do in the near future.
Description of Work: refinished hardwood on stairs, installed a vanity in powder room, fixed counter top back splash and installed tile back splash in the kitchen and fixed closet doors

 + 0 moreDave set up a time to come and give us a quote on our job. He arrived exactly when he said he would, explained all of our options, and sent a detailed quote within a couple of days. We scheduled the work, the men showed up as promised...worked from early morning until 6 at night until the job was done. We were very happy with the outcome. I had other jobs that I would have loved to have them do but we are a little outside of their service area and we just couldn't fit into their schedule. We would use them again with no reservations.

 + -1 moreWe had a leak in our ceiling. Water was coming from the shower positioned above the ceiling, however the source of the leak was a mystery. Mike and Dave devised a way to find out how the water was getting through the tile and down into the ceiling. Sure enough the grout was cracked and needed to be replaced. Mike did a beautiful job in the shower and stopped all leaking. He also repaired the ceilings in the TV room and garage. Mike was able to repair whatever needed fixed in the house. His skill set and work ethic are admirable. (and he is a exceptionally nice young man to boot!) Both my husband and I were very please with the work done by DJM. Dave was accessible on the phone and could schedule my repairs in a timely manner. His employees are skilled, professional, and neat. His cost of service was reasonable and clearly explained and our satisfaction with the work done was very important to Dave. I would recommend DJM to my friends and I will hire them again.
Description of Work: Re-grouted master shower, repaired ceilings due to water damage, repaired cracked wall, changed out bad electrical plug, and repaired toilet.

 + 1 moreDJM installed new interior doors and rebuilt a stairway railing for us back in the summer of 2012. They painted and stained several standard doors and closet doors. The doors look fantastic. They stained the doors on the first floor for us and installed. We had some minor issues with the stain color, but Dave made it right with a lot of extra effort. I really appreciated that. The upstairs doors and closets were painted. The hand railing also looks great. They actually did the carpentry to install a new ballaster and turned rails on the lower part of the stairs. Now, the best part...this summer, one of the doors started dragging on the floor. I called Dave and he had one of his guys come out and adjust the door at NO CHARGE. I didn't expect that, but it was wonderful and also greatly appreciated. Next time I have any carpentry work, I will definitely call DJM Construction.
Description of Work: New interior doors and closet doors installed. New handrail and baluster installed. Came out and repaired one door that started sticking.

 + -1 moreDave McGeary came out to the house in the evening to look at the job and give us a quote. He gave us a written quote within two weeks. It took about four weeks to schedule the work. The worker showed up on-time each day and completed the job perfectly. Once I painted the ceiling you can't tell it was repaired at all. They used vacuum sanders so there was no plaster dust in the house. Overall I was very happy with the work and would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: DJM Construction put up drywall on a kitchen ceiling. There area was about 4 feet by 12 feet.

 + -1 moreI had previous favorable experiences with DJM Construction, and wasn't hesitant to contact Dave and his staff to complete this work. I contacted Dave to outline the details of the project, and received a complete and thorough estimate of the work to be completed in a timely manner. DJM showed up as scheduled, and completed all agreed upon work in a timely fashion, in a workman like manner, on time and budget. Throughout the course of construction, Dave kept me informed, and always showed up when they said they would. Dave quickly responded to my requests for a couple of change orders and clearly conveyed the costs of these additions. Overall, I was am completely satisfied with the work completed by DJM, and would highly recommend them to friends and family.
Description of Work: Finish work for the completion of an addition including: installation and finishing of drywall including hanging, mudding, taping, and sanding. Installation of tongue and groove knotty pine ceiling. Design, construction, finishing and framing of pass-through from kitchen to addition. Installation of all detail carpentry work including windows, baseboards, doors and jambs.

Description of Work: I called DJM Construction twice within a ten day period and he never returned my call. How hard is it to leave the message on your answering machine that you are not currently accepting new business? It is rude not to return phone calls. If this little tiling job went well, I had many other projects that need done including 22 new windows. DJM Construction just lost out on a great long term customer.

I have had Dave complete several jobs over the last couple of years that included painting, installing dry wall, creating a new deck, fixing small "odd jobs" around the house, etc. i am always 100% satisfied and would recommend this company to anyone.

 + -1 moreThe quality of the work was very good. Because of some personal matters, I had asked them to meet a hard deadline (complete work on a specific date). Although not obligated to do so, they worked extra hours to get the work done on time. Also of note, they were very neat and clean. Dust, dirt and trash were never a problem. All in all, they were a very good choice and I would hire them again.
Description of Work: I hired DJM to install interior wood trim and install interior doors/frames. I had been doing the work myself (as the owner/occupant), but needed some extra hands to move the work along.

Dave arrived on schedule for our appointment and assessed the needs for our project. He was thorough in his explanation of how he planned to complete the project, and said he would provide an estimate within the next few days. Upon timely receipt of his estimate, I scheduled to have the agreed upon work completed. Dave, and his guys Andy and Cliff completed our project professionally and in a timely manner. They took care to be respectful of our time and property, and the finished project exceeded our expectations. We were absolutely satisfied with our experience with DJM Construction, and won't hesitate to use them for future projects and refer them to our friends and family.
Description of Work: Framing and installation of shower stall. Framing in, and blocking off existing window in adjacent bathroom. Tiling in existing shower where window was removed. Repairing drywall above tiled area where existing window was removed.

 + -1 moreWe have a corner fireplace in the family room with a cabinet and shelving unit built to hold an old fashion TV. We wanted to hang our new flat screen TV in that location. The old cabinet had to be removed, new support built to hang the new TV with hidden space to house the electrical paraphernalia. The carpenters working on my project were thoughtful, careful quiet, respectful and neat. It was a pleasure having them in the house performing the work. They understood the task and built exactly what was needed. DH and I were pleased with the results. I would hire them again.

 + 5 moreDave came out to look at our project within a week of contacting him through Angie's List. We received a couple different bids via email (depending on how much work we wanted to complete) within two more weeks. After agreeing to the bid, they were able to start work within 7-10 days. They worked through a ten day stretch, taking only one Sunday off, to finish the work just before Christmas.
Description of Work: We are finishing our basement (after over 20 years!) in stages. We'd already framed & insulated the walls & sound-proofed the ceiling, so this stage of completion involved drywall on the walls, ceiling, roughed-in half bathroom, and storage pantry. Other side projects included replacing two basement windows, running hot/cold water & plumbing to the new bathroom, venting a bathroom fan, boxing around the basement steps & bulkhead, then several coats of paint. They also discovered and fixed bad water heater valves. Dave, Cliff & Michael were on time, professional, and even worked through a lot of the weekend to finish before we had a houseful of company for Christmas. We are already planning to have them back to finish the trim & hang doors, etc, after we save more money for that. The $5000 includes what we paid for materials, but the bids are for labor only. We had quite a few add-ons to our initial bid, but the add-on labor charge was explained in detail & reasonable.

Completed the work on time. My family and I are very satisfied with the quality work that DMJ Construction performed. Our new porch should be good for the next 30 years. We will consider DJM Construction for future projects.
Description of Work: On 10/25/12 I asked Dave to provide an estimate to replace my 30 year old 8' x 25' pressure treated front porch. Since he was busy he wasn't sure when he could do the work. He gave me an estimate, and I asked him to keep me posted when he could do the work. When good weather approached, he called me and said he could start the next day. That was great.

 + 1 more. When the estimate was written we were told it would take 5 days and that's exactly how long it took. They always used drop cloths, showed up on time and were VERY nice and professional. As with most remodels my wife changed a few things around during the job and they did it without a hitch.I was very concerned about having people work in our home especially off our master bedroom but after a couple days we could tell that they were VERY trustworthy. We actually left them alone in our home a couple time cause we had to run out and buy new lights, normally we would never do that! Anyways, the end result is they did a beautiful job on our Master Bath. There workmanship is wonderful. You can tell they take alot of pride in their work. From the painting to the tile floor, everything is perfect. They will be doing more work in my home in the future and I would highly recommend them to anybody.
Description of Work: This was a bathroom remodel, they installed a new Ceramic floor, Vanity, vanity top, lights, mirrors and painting. We purchased everything and hired DJM to install everything. It was moreless a Labor only type of job.

Description of Work: Dave replaced vent boots on my roof. He also repaired the exhaust vent in my kitchen. He did excellent work in a very professional manner. I would highly recommend him to family and friends and would definately use them again.
