Had two rooms remodeled. A dining room and a study. Installed box ceiling, moldings, refinished walls and paint, etc..... Dave and Mike were great to work with. Quality of work is excellent and both can be trusted in the home and around children. Used again for a bedroom refinish and will continue to use for future projects. Finally found a quality no hassle contractor after years of dealing with problem contractors.

Dave came out to my home to provide and estimate to install a door at the top of my stairs. He was prompt and very friendly. While he was here I asked if he would have time to also look at a bathroom that needed some work which he agreed to do. He took his time and was thorough about taking the details of the work and discussing my thoughts on the project. The prices for both items were very reasonable. Matt and Sam completed the work. They were both very nice and on time each day and always cleaned everything up before leaving for the day. I decided to add and change a few things during the process and they were very accommodating with the changes. I had to go out of town for a few days while they were working, but felt completely confident having them continue while I was gone. The work was done very well and Dave was at the job site regularly to check-in. I would definitely recommend DJM Construction.

..Dave was able to schedule the finish work within 10 days of recontacting him. Our basement remodeling project was several years in the making, completing different phases as we saved money. Dave's company had been with us for several of the phases, always doing great work & offering good suggestions. Mike was able to complete this last phase in less than a week, before we had a scheduled vacation. They always showed up on time, and left a clean worksite each day.
Description of Work: Dave & Mike completed the final phase of our basement project, hanging new doors & trim, in addition to completing other nagging little projects. The finish work turned out great.

Dave gave us a fair quote in advance of the job, and he was able to fit us into his busy schedule in less than one week which we really appreciated as we were trying to complete the job before we had some out of town guests. As part of this project, we were installing taller cabinets and there were a few unexpected issues as a result which were professionally addressed. Dave also sent an additional person toward the end of the job to help keep the job on schedule. Dave and his team were very responsive and professional, and Dave always checked in with us to ensure we were satisfied. We will absolutely work with Dave for future projects.
Description of Work: Dave and his team installed vanity cabinets in four bathrooms, removed mirrors and repaired walls, installed trim as necessary, replaced countertops and reconnected faucets. The original countertops were reinstalled so that we had full use of the bathrooms while we waited for the granite. He also performed a few other smaller jobs for us, including coming on short notice after the granite arrived to help with light installations and an unrelated electrical issue.

Had an area that was all chewed by my dog. Dave replaced much of the drywall and trim. Instead of spending money on new doors, he was able to repair them to beautiful condition. Dave made an effort to save money where he could and his work was fantastic. One thing I appreciate it was his flexibility. Since I work full-time he worked with me to find times when the work could be done. Would definitely use him again and would definitely refer him to a friend.

We only had ceiling fans in half the upstairs rooms and wanted to add to all the rooms. We have worked with Dave on multiple projects and his crew always does a good job. We originally had only asked them to install one, but they said they had time to do both (they even ran to the store to pick up another fan). We had to be patient on a time frame because he was busy, but he worked out a time with my wife and had everything done in a few hours after they arrived. The upstairs is much cooler now.

Can't even get Dave to show up for an estimate to rennovate a bathroom! Even went out of my way to make sure that I chose a company that was approved & listed on Angie's List for reliability with good reviews. Don't be fooled, didn't help in this situation at all. Life is hectic enough keeping track of our own schedules. If you don't want the work, don't schedule an appointment. It's ok to just say no.
Description of Work: I contacted Dave to schedule an appointment to get an estimate on remodeling our hall bathroom. Scheduled the appointment for 3 weeks from the time I called him on April 14th @ 6pm. On April 14th, by 7 pm we knew Dave was going to be a no show. I know other people can relate to this situation, sadly this happens with too many contractors. Why??? If you don't want the business, don't schedule the appointment. Our feelings won't get hurt, honest. At 7 pm we called Dave & left a voice mail & also sent him an e-mail. At 8 pm he left us a voice mail message saying that he 'forgot' about the appointment. He also followed up with an e-mail stating that he diid not have a secretary and these mistakes happen. We called him back the next day, left a message saying 'ok' no problem, we'll give you another chance, mistakes do happen. We asked to reschedule the appointment. He never called us back. If you don't want the work, don't waste people's time. It's that simple!

I was not sure about what type of tub I was going to use when Dave came for the estimate but did a bit more research and made a decision later that night. I wanted to let him know before he put the written estimate together so I called the next day and left a message. I also wanted to ask him about the shower doors before I placed the order and heated floors. I never got a call back. The following week I emailed to see if he had gotten my message again, no response. At the end of the week when the estimate was not here and I still had not heard from Dave I called again. This time I did get him (he was driving and by the way he was talking he obviously had not screened his calls) and was told some story about how he has so many hats to wear...well FYI every adult I know has many hats to wear it is not an excuse. Again I was told my estimate was next and he would have it to me over the next two days...here it is a week later, I emailed him again to ask if he was even interested in following through with the estimate and again no response. I think if you have to much on your plate to take on another job, just say so. The way things were handled shows a complete lack of professionalism and integrity. I would NOT recommend Dave. I will share his name and my experience with my neighbors and friends. I'm not sure where Dave came up with the "timeline" but I never gave him a timeline. I told him I would like to get back to the other contractors who bid the job (he would have been the third) as soon as possible with my decision because I don't think it's fair to keep them waiting. They have to plan their jobs also and need to know. Dave made up the" timeline" thing, I also think if you are "extremely busy" like you said here, it's unlikely your table will be empty.
Description of Work: Waited a week for an estimate. Dave came to look at the job and told me he would have something to me the following week. Almost a month later, messages and emails left with no response. Don't waste your time, find a professional.

Response from DJM Construction
This response wasn't written until she was told that we were not going to be able to meet her timeline on getting the job done. During her initial call to us, she was unhappy about having to wait a week and a half to get an estimate. Indicating she might be in a hurry to start her project. We have been extremely busy this spring. I should have told her immediately that we were running behind on bids and scheduling jobs. Yes, I sometimes optomistically tell people I will have something for them sooner than I can. It always amazes me how fast a person will try to destroy your livelihood and the means of putting food on your table when their expectations have not been met!

They were great. When he came by the house, I gave him the Angie's List resource page that I had printed out, and he was happy to get it. We had no problems at all. We had paid 75 Dollars for it, and he felt that the work was not worth 75 Dollars, so he walked around and did some more work.

The hot water valve replacement was smooth. The cold water shut off valve nut broke so the local water company had to be called to shut off the water to the house and then called again when the replacement was completed. Dave worked quickly and eficiently so additional costs were not incurred by the local water company. When the nut broke and water went everywhere, Dave was very professional and was able to resolve the issue and complete the job in a timely manner. I trust Dave and will definately use his services again.

I had only days to fix some creaky floors for the sale of my home. Tried a traditional repair for this problem but it did not work. I found David on Angie's List, called and left a message, and he returned my call within 30 minutes and came right out the same afternoon! He did a great job at troubleshooting the problem and devised an effective repair that avoided removing or cutting open the carpeted flooring to get to the joists below. I could not be more impressed or grateful! He was courteous and professional to boot! Highly recommended!

Sorry, I have to disagree. Called on the 7th to see if they were interested in 2 small carpentry jobs and 1 larger job. Was told he was driving and to send an email. which I did. Response from DJM Construction
Well I must apologize for not getting back to you. I found that I actually had half an email written and never sent. Something pulled me away. I am the only one of the 4 employees of this company that does any PR work (emails, phone calls etc.), payroll, also job visits, proposals (many which take 5-6 hrs to produce), I supply all jobs with material and trouble shoot any problems that arise, so on and so forth. I'm handling between 20 to 40 contacts for work a week. Sometimes (more than I like) things fall through the cracks. I wish you would have given me a reminder call or an email asking if we were still interested. You probably would have gotten a positive response.

Dave's team came late last year to drywall our 500 sq.ft basement & install new basement windows, among other things. This time we needed to have our basement bathroom finished. I sent Dave an email request, hoping to get on his calendar in the next month. He was able to schedule & complete the work within about two to three weeks, between other projects. Jeremy & Dave finished the work over the span of two weekends. I'd already installed the floor, and bought the vanity, faucet, door hardware, light & toilet. Jeremy installed the door, moulding, hardware, baseboard, vanity, faucet & plumbing, and relocated the bathroom light, which was not centered over the vanity beforehand. The bathroom fan venting proved to be awkward and complicated, requiring winding the venting around obstacles & across the ceiling, then through the far basement wall to the outside. The completed project looks great & is now fully functional. The project cost was a little higher than I'd originally projected, but seeing the detail work required to finish everything changed my mind about that.
Description of Work: Jeremy & Dave helped us finish our basement bathroom, which is a real milestone in our basement remodeling project. The electrical work was already completed, but we still needed a door & moulding, baseboard, vanity & toilet installation, venting the bathroom fan, and moving the bathroom light location.

I was very impressed with the quality of work and the short time it took them to finish. I would definitely hire them again......
Description of Work: Dave"s firm DJM construction remolded our bath room. They removed the hardwood flooring and installed a tile floor. They had to remove the vanity sink and pull the toilet and trim. They installed the 12 x 12 tile flooring and did a very professional job in putting everything back together again. They also installed a set of doors where our TV used to be in our basement. They had to cut back a shelve, install a door frame, trim with jams and then install 2 hollow core 6 panel doors. Also, removed old bathroom ceiling fan, installed new fan and repaired damaged ceiling due to moisture. They also did some drywall work in a basement bathroom.

We have used DJM Construction for 2 previous projects and were pleased with the results. This was the largest project we had them do. The cost was for labor and materials only. All finishing and appliances were furnished by us. Dave worked with us every step of the way as he has on all past projects. Since this was a new addition, there weren't any surprises from a work perspective. Working through the plumbing permit by myself was cumbersome, but that is more of a knock against Allegheny County then DJM. Dave provided all the required drawings to Shaler Township for the building permit and made all the minor adjustments that the building inspector required. As always were are pleased with the work. Dave even came back to make some minor touchups after we had settled into the new addition.

They responded promptly when we reached out to them. Both my husband and I were not available during weekdays due to our work schedule, they were very flexible on their end and cooprated with us over the weekends. They showed up right on time, and finished the jobs beautifully.
Description of Work: We bought the house in Dec 2012. In Jan 2013 before we moved in, we asked DJM Constructions to help us finish some left-over work in kitchen remodeling --. they helped us seal the backsplash, and repair two kitchen windows that were semi-damaged by the poor job done by another contractor. Dave and his team (Don and Mike) were great to work with and did an incredible job. Dave was very responsive from the get go starting with his proposal. Don and Mike were promptly at work each morning at least 5 days a week (usually 6 with work on Saturdays), worked hard all day, and kept the job site very clean at the end of each day. They put flooring protection down from the master bath to the exterior to keep our floors clean and they covered the furniture each day in our bedroom to keep it clean. Don and Mike were very professional and a pleasure to work with. Dave, Don and Mike were very communicative and kept us up to speed on the progress of the work and consulted us when decisions needed to be made. I am very pleased especially with the natural stone wall and floor tile installation, which I know was a difficult install as each tile was slightly different. On example of their attention to detail was in respect to the installation of our vanity top. The top was part of a vanity system my wife and I purchased from Restoration Hardware. The stone top had flaws and we ultimately had to request 3 different tops before we received one that did not contain flaws. Dave was very forthright in stating his opinion that he would not install it in his own home and did not recommend we install it in ours. My wife also felt very comfortable with them in the house each day as they were very courteous and respectful to her and our children. When we are ready to have our kitchen remodeled and our deck rebuilt, we are definitely going to call Dave. As an architect, I understand quality and value in a contractor. Dave and his team deliver on both fronts.

I am beyond delighted with the results of my new kitchen. Matt and Mike, who performed the work with oversight by Dave, are professional craftsmen who rightly take pride in their work, not an easy thing to find these days. As expected, there were surprises on this job. When the original ceiling was removed, debris from the 25 year old bathroom remodel fell out. Apparently, the bathroom remodelers had just thrown debris into the floor and set the bathtub on top of it. Result was that the years of extra weight had bowed the floor joist and created stress cracks. Dave's crew braced the stressed joist and installed 2x4s on all of the other joists, resulting in a ceiling 1" lower than original, which is a small price to pay not to have the bathtub in the kitchen! Most of the wiring was still knob & tube, so that had to be brought up to date. Though these items were unexpected, Dave's crew made the repairs/updates without complaint. Mike and Matt worked diligently every day, including a couple of Saturdays, to move the job along. Each step in the process was done with an attitude of "do it the right way". No shortcuts were taken. They consulted w/me regarding layout of the floor tile, placement of outlets, etc. and offered their opinions (which I encouraged) about my choices. Their attention to detail is awesome...baseboards and door framing match the style of the rest of the house EXACTLY, which was no easy task since the house was built in the 1920s. The wall and base cabinets are precisely aligned w/one another; no attitude of "close enough". There were some extras added by me which added to the price and time frame, but all were performed professionally. A note, too, about cleanliness. The kitchen was sealed off w/plastic and tape so there was minimal dust in the rest of the house. Each day the work area was cleaned up, including the garage which was used as a workshop. I could keep rattling on, but hope I've made the point that this company is professional and performs high quality work. I'm already working on other project ideas that I can hire the for.
Description of Work: Removed existing cabinets, 3 layers of linoleum, drop ceiling, original plaster ceiling. Rewired kitchen, braced ceiling joists, installed and painted new drywall ceiling, repaired drywall walls, installed can lights and ceiling fan, lay ceramic tile floor, installed new cabinets and appliances, fabricated and installed baseboards and door molding, primed all repaired drywall and trim
