DJM Construction

Our experience with DJM was quite positive. We had interviewed other handymen/painters and their estimates, especially for the baseboard work, were much higher than Dave's and, frankly, didn't sound quite right to us. Dave explained what he would do in detail regarding the painting job and baseboard repair and we felt we could trust him to do the work. Other contractors told us they could do the baseboard work at a much higher cost, telling us the repair would be quite involved. However, when Dave explained his approach to repairing the baseboard, it was much less labor intensive, hence his estimate was much lower. For the painting and other work, he was always conscientious about doing the job properly, and he did. It looks great and he saved us hundreds of dollars that we would've spent with other contractors. He is also very professional, very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. It is hard to find a good and decent contractor, and Dave is someone we will be going to again and again with all our home repair needs.

Dave and his employees did a great job. We've received many compliments on our beautiful bathroom. Dave mostly did his work during the day while we were at work. We gave him our garage door opener so he had access to the house. There was never a problem and he always left the work area neat and locked up when he left. He was always available when we had questions and even talked to us on the phone while we were picking out our tile. We asked for the project to be completed by Memorial Day and it was. The price came in at what he had estimated. Dave is a very friendly and pleasant guy, trustworthy and hard working. I would definitely recommend him, the bathroom really looks great and we are very happy.

Everything went well. He arrived on time, worked in a professional manner, and did a quality job.

The project went very well. Dave came out promptly to look over the project and give us a written estimate a few days later. He started the job about when he saud he would, and came every day until the job was complete. He did a good job on fixing the fence, performed at a reasonable cost a couple of "extras" at our request that were not in the original estimate, and left the job site in a clean condition when he was done. He is easy to work with, and responsive to questions and requests. I would recommend DJM to others.

Dave did a fantastic job with us, remodeling our small bathroom into a full master bath. Dave did it all, from demolition through tiling. The work was well done, was done quickly, and was very close to his original estimate. Very happy - thanks!!

You can't really go wrong with the quality and price with DJM Construction. Dave is willing to do it all or a little of the project depending on your preference. You can purchase the materials at your cost and Dave will install them which saves a lot of money and allows you to pick exactly what you want. He has an eye for details and doesn't leave unless he is satisfied with the work. He once installed an exterior door and storm door in our house and came back the next day to get the storm door closing properly. We barely noticed it wasn't closing perfectly but it bothered Dave enough he had to make it right. You really can't go wrong with the quality and service. I always contact Dave first because his prices are tough to beat.

Dave was wonderful! Home depot originally took the measurements for the new door and informed me it was not a "standard" size, so i would have to order a door other than the one i wanted and they would still have to shim it etc. Dave took a look at the door, saw that they measured wrong and were not correct in their assessment - and i was able to get the wooden door i wanted. The install went very smooth, as promised - and it looks great! The work did change slightly - he originally thought he would have to cut into the wall to get to the original door frame - however, he did not have to do this and therefore changed his original quote to reflect the work he did - which was lower than the original quote! How often does that happen!

As always Dave was prompt, efficient, and very meticulous. He and his workers built the lattice work on the lawn then hoisted it into place and secured it to the deck railing and house. (Not an easy task, as the deck is one story above ground - so it meant ladders, climbing etc.) They finished in one day, as he said they would, and they cleaned up everything before leaving. The quality of his work is always excellent. Dave has worked for us in the past, and I can't imagine using anyone else.

I don't recall how much we paid him but I think it was very reasonable. He does good work. He is very reliable. I thought that he tried to save us as much money as possible while doing the repairs. Some people had told us that we needed an entire new door and door frame but he worked around what was there. So I thought that he saved us a lot of money. I know that he does all kinds of other work but for us he just repaired the door. We will definitely use him again in the future.

We contacted DJM to give us an estimate on a project (ceiling demolition and replacement in one room, installing some lighting, and installing windows and exterior doors). Mr. McGeary scheduled a time with us about two weeks later to see the house. He told us at that time that it would be about a week to 10 days until he could give us an estimate. After about three weeks, we had not heard from him, and I sent him an email (to which we got no response). Another week later, I left a voicemail on his cell phone and got an email about a day or two later saying that he would have the estimate to me in a day or so. Approximately a week later, I got a one sentence email saying that he was "going to have to pass on [our] project" with no further explanation as to why. I have no idea what the quality of his work is or how timely he is communicating with clients on whose houses he is working, but this lack of professionalism at the preliminary stage of a project, when you would expect a company and its representatives to be on their best behavior, is disappointing.

We are very pleased. It was a large amount of work and it was all done expertly. David even came out Christmas Eve to finish up.

Dave was very responsive to our initial call and perpared a clear and detailed estimate. He took the time to fully understand what needed to be done. We are very satisfied with all the repairs - Dave's first priorities arethoroughness and quality. The only downside of our experience was that we were on a very tight time schedule and the repairs were not completed as quickly as we would have liked. Not all of this was Dave's fault, since the weather was very unpredictable and many of our repairs required warm temperatures. We would hire Dave again without hesitation.

He is a pro. I plan on using him again in the future with other household updates. He is prompt and works very hard.

Dave does quality work. He fixed the doors on my kitchen cabinets, which were all falling off the hinges; now they look almost new and are very secure! He designed and installed a storage system, including custom-made shelves, for my garage, which is just great. In addition, he replaced a leaky faucet in my bathroom sink, fixed my front doorbell and installed shelves in my kitchen.

Every aspect of working with Dave was positive. He was reliable, clean, and the installation went flawlessly. This is especially noteworthy given the very large size of my window, and the fact that my new window is a super-high efficiency window, so there were other complications there as well....and Dave handled everything professionally, pleasantly, and within budget. Will definitely use him again...soon!

Dave did an excellent job, and worked long days to get the job done quickly. He was helpful and informative when I had questions. His communication to set up the job was excellent. I highly recommend DJM construction, and would definitely use them again.

It was an excellent experience. The owner, Dave, was very responsive to my call. The quality of his work is superb. In addition, while on the job he noticed a couple of minor things in the house that needed to be repaired and he suggested repairing them. He did charge for those repairs, but they were needed and worth it. His pricing is fair because the quality of work and character of the owner is of the highest level.

Overall the experience was great and I have no complaints. Mr. McGeary was able to come on very short notice after having another job cancelled. I purchased the doors to be installed and he stayed true to his estimate which was by far the most reasonable of all I received. I have no reservations recommending his work to anyone and I hope to use him for many jobs in the future.

Dave responded to an original email request promptly, came to give an estimate when he said he would, started when he said he would, made sure to consult us if there were any questions or problems as the job proceeded, and worked carefully and at a reasonable pace (didn't rush). I've never known a contractor who made such (successful) efforts to minimize the mess (e.g. he built a "wall" out of plastic around the kitchen island floor to ceiling, thereby reducing - in fact almost eliminating- dust. Always cleaned up at the end of the day, arrived each day when e said he would, and worked every day until the job was finished. All of this and the quality of his work exceeds that of virtually every other contractor we've used.

Dave is extremely responsive and came quickly to observe the problem area and provide us with a thorough quote. He also provided us with a professional written proposal for the work. He responded promptly to all of my calls and questions. We scheduled the job but had to postpone due to weather and another job he was finishing. This did not bother us because 1) we were not in a hurry and 2) he was willing to work with us to do what was best. He spent one full day working. He purchased all of the materials for us and provided receipts at the end of the job. He was diligent and had a great attention for detail. When he discovered that we needed additional work -- more sanding and painting than originally quoted -- he let me know immediately and gave me the choice of having him complete it or to finish it ourselves. He was losing daylight and returned the next morning early to complete the final top coat. He left the front porch/lawn as clean as when he arrived. The front of our house looked wonderful after that one update and hopefully we won't have any more water damage now that the wood is primed and repainted. We were very pleased to work with Dave and would absolutely recommend him and call on him in the future!

It went very well overall. It took longer than anticipated but that was because we ran into a few problems that had to be addressed and we decided to add a few things as the room remodeling was progressing. When a problem did arise Dave gave us our options and did what was asked.

Both Dave and I had some scheduling conflicts so it took a while before the work began. Dave did start when we did arrange a starting time and always informed me when he could not come. He was always clean and neat and made sure everything was picked up when he left. The projects were completed and look very professional.
