College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving

Where do I start? 1-STAR is too high of a rating: I was recommended to use College Hunks - Pittsburgh as I moved 7/19 and had booked their moving services way in advance - I paid the deposit and received the confirmation. In advance to the move, I e-mailed the "office manager" and received no response back. Now, the day of the move comes with a window for 8:30-9:30am, what do you know, window time comes and goes, nothing, I called the Pittsburgh branch, no answer, called the Tampa HQ office and spoke to a CS Rep that mentioned they would dispatch to see where they were? Still nothing, come 11:30am they show, 3 of them, smelled of marijuana and yes, one was injured as well. My items were never wrapped except for the mattress pad, the master bed was already disassembled and as such. Now, 3 hrs. later, my move to the new location has wrapped up, not only did I "still" give the movers $120 cash tip, but they also billed me nearly $700 in which $120 of that was credited due to being late (I had to call and complain about this to happen). After they left, I noticed my brand-new fabric couch was either dragged or ripped while moving + the master bedroom bed frame had been nicked and scratched, what was taking place downstairs with my items is still unspoken for. I called again to the Pitt branch and spoke to the office manager - this person asked for images in which I sent immediately via text to her mobile #. I mentioned, "what are the next steps and a timeframe" - in addition, "please do not have me chase anyone down for answers". Lonely be hold, this is exactly what is happening - zero communication, zero effort and I have sent many messages through e-mail, phone text, called both Pitt and Tampa, "there is a claim in, but we will dispatch that location to give you a call". I am nearly two weeks in and still at square one with a damaged couch + a bed that had to be pitched because of the look it had after arriving - and spent $2100 on a new bedroom suit, in which was an unnecessary expense. College Hunks are franchises and there is an owner that replies to the reviews but hasn't replied to their damages done by their drivers / movers? I will not leave this be and I will escalate to the magisterial level if not rectified. Be mindful and use caution when choosing a moving company!! Lesson learned!!

Worst moving company to say the least. First off, there is nothing "college" about them. They were moving me 8 miles and forgot pieces of my furniture and had to make 2 trips. Then they damaged my refrigerator and new Provia interior door by trying to squeeze the refrigerator through a too small door way. And now the claims person refuses to file a claim for the damages. Very unprofessional business practices. I wouldn't have them move my doghouse in the future!

We hired college hunks to move my daughter from her college house in Pittsburgh to her new apartment. When I provided the details of what I needed moved, I told them I had a full bed from IKEA bed that needed to be moved. The two "college hunks" who came were very friendly and helpful, although inefficient which added time and money to the move. I could handle that because they were trying so hard. The more important issue was that they could not take apart the bed. They felt terrible about it and told us that a disassembly expert would be coming the next morning at no charge. The next day came and went. I called my account person Christina multiple times, and then her voicemail was full. I called the 800 number three times, and I was told Laura, the owner, would be calling. It took her over 6 hours to call me back. Laura was so rude, and she told me that I was unreasonable to expect her to be able to take apart everything and there was no guarantee that they would be able to move everything. Isn't that what a moving company does? It was a full bed from IKEA -- pretty standard. When I explained that I was very clear about what needed to be moved ahead of time, she was rude and offensive. I understand small businesses, but clearly the movers were not trained well as they told me there was a disassembly expert which there was not. I was told I would get a 1/2 hour of time credited to my account. I have yet to see that credit. I would highly recommend using one of the other local movers even if they are a bit more expensive. My understanding is that you would have a lot less stress and the time would be used more efficiently. So much for College Hunk's tagline -- "Have a stress free day" which I heard many times on hold with the 800 number.

GREAT experience! From start (Laura) to finish (Dave & Dwayne) they were professional, pleasant, quick and focus on providing the best customer service. Would not hesitate to use again or recommend. A bit more expensive that others, but worth the difference for the personal, customer focus.

Really pleasant to talk to and they showed up on time for the estimate. The price was a bit high for me, so I declined the service.

It was a terrible experience, and I had hired them based on some positive reviews. The team did not know how to move, they were not organized, they followed each other around rather than breaking down the tasks, and did not know how to wrap furniture. Generally, this group had no hustle, and no energy. On more than one occasion I saw them standing around and reading posters? I ended up with things that were not mine and my furniture was dinged. There was no concern for the furniture itself. I saw my mattress half bent in the middle of a walking hallway, the bag ripped--just abandoned. Boxes were left sitting in the rain while they all stood around looking at the truck. I could not have been more disappointed. And these were not college students? My friends and I were forced to do the lion's share of the work. Run!

College Hunks helped with moving furniture to different locations within our house. They helped moved boxes to the attic and basement. While this is a small part of their services (moving, clean out and haul away, etc.) It was a huge help for us aging seniors. Marco and Sergei were incredible. While they were not only efficient and respectful, they were very personable as well. They will work with as little as a 2 hour minimum. They are a newer business providing these services but by no means an underdog. I will use or recommend them to anyone. They are licensed and insured.

Everything went flawlessly. Set-up was easy. Anthony and Dwayne were punctual (called when they knew they were a bit behind because of traffic issues near us) , very personable, polite and helpful. They were in and out in no time. We thought they were terrific young guys. We will use this service again and recommend the company to others because of Anthony and Dwayne.

What a great concept and company! The entire experience from scheduling to hauling exceeded our expectations. Floyd and Marco handled our furniture removal with ease, despite the bulky size of the pieces and our tight doorways. They were punctual, polite, good humored -- extremely professional. We cannot say enough good things about these fine young men. We will be calling back in the next couple of months for another haul. Thank you again for the excellent customer service. Initial call to completion of the job took only about 1 1/2. I was set to go with another company later that day but once they contacted me and said they could be there immediately I told them I would give them a try. Their price was comparable to the other company. When Vincent and Shane arrived, they took a look at the job and gave me an estimate. They told me a bit about the company, showed me their price structure and explained how they would pack the truck and come up with a final price. There was an extra cost for the tires which Laura had already explained on the phone. Once everything was explained to me, I agreed to use their service. They completed the work in about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. They were friendly, fast, efficient, and professional. I really liked the fact that they were available immediately to complete the job.

Excellent! Would definitely use again.

We had a small house fire and needed to get rid of the burnt house debris. The 3 guys that came were extremely nice and professional. They were quick but thorough. The guys even swept off the area where the debris sat. The owner was very easy to work and wanted to make sure they could accommodate our needs. We will be using this company again in the future and will definitely be recommending this company to others.
