Description of Work: 3/25/2015 |Jammie William's movers (Williams Transportation) moved our belongings from our ranch home to a first floor apartment. In the process, they damaged our oak Amish made dining room table with several gouges that covered a large section of the table. Repairs would involve refinishing the entire table and five leaves in order for it all to match. When I contacted Jammie initially before the move, he said they were insured. The foreman of the moving crew was very apologetic and assured us that we would be reimbursed for the damages. He said Jammie would either make a deduction from the cost of the move or file an insurance claim. The foreman called Jammie and he instructed him to take pictures of the damages and that we should submit an estimate and they would file a claim. We had a dent in our refrigerator and several other minor scratches to furniture for which we did not seek restitution. Below is a list of what has occurred since then and the dates. | |April 6, 2015 |Letter with estimate of repairs required mailed to the address on Jammie's business card they gave us which was 1151 Bulldog Drive, Allentown, PA 18104. | |April 14, 2015 |Telephone call to 610 392 9805 (the number on his business card and on Craig's list). No answer but voice message left requesting they return our call. No response. | |April 19, 2015 |The letter we mailed on April 6, 2015 to the Bulldog address above on his business card came back as "not deliverable as addressed" and "no forwarding address". | |April 19, 2015 |I posted on Angie's List details of what we are experiencing since he is listed on Angie's List. | |April 21, 2015 |I posted concerns and a picture of damaged table top on his Facebook page asking others what is another way to get in touch with him since he does not answer the phone. Prior to our move, he was quick to answer our calls when we were considering him as a mover. | |April 28, 2015 |I made a summary of the above and posted it on the law enforcement/legal section of Craig's List. | |April 28, 2015 |I emailed Jammie at 33q2z-496111520@serv.craigslist.org. which he had listed as an email address to contact him. | |April 29, 2015 |I got an email from Jammie and Mary Williams (craigslist 4961111520 |33q2z-496111520@serv.craigslist.org) telling me I can mail a copy of the estimate to the following address: |4711 Kernsville Road #225 |Orefield PA 18069 |*This I discovered is a Post Office Box. Here is what we were told. The estimate was received by them on 5/12. We mailed it out of 5/6. The insurance company said it was processed and being mailed out today 5/27. My wife asked why the delay and they said the claim was processed in 10 business days. They are closed on weekends and were closed on Monday for the holiday. They told us to expect the check approximately 6/2 or 6/3. I also resent an email I sent earlier explaining the 7-10 business day turn around on the check. I think there was a misunderstanding on the time frame." | |June 11, 2015 |I send another email to Jammie stating: "Still waiting for the check from your insurance. Did you send it to the correct address? I had given you the information before but I wanted to be sure this is the address you are using (I gave him the address and phone number again). Let me know what is taking still longer. | |June 23, 2015 |I send another email to Jammie at 'kmt78-5078528971@serv.craigslist.org' stating: |"We are still waiting for the insurance check to cover the damage to our dining room table when you moved us in early spring. This is the email (see May 28 email above) I received a month ago and I emailed you since buy have not heard a word. |The check should not have been send to the man that gave the estimate since we will not have the table repaired until just before our next move into our new home. I will call him then and he will pick it up. It should be send to: (address provided again) | |June 27, 2015 |I mailed the letter below to Jammie using the Orefield address above that he had given us. The letter stated: "I have send two emails on June 11 and June 23 regarding our claim for the damaged dining room table and have received no response. I left a message on your phone, also. Your last correspondence on May 28 stated the check should be expected in the beginning of June. Here we are at the end of June and have received no check or correspondence regarding what is happening. Please contact us. (I provided our email address, phone number and current address again.) Who is your Insurance company that is processing the check and the contact person? | |July 6, 2015 |Email send to Jammie at tvw3-5104719326@serv.craigslist.org stating: |"We have tried repeatedly the last several weeks to get an update on our Insurance Claim with no response. Williams Transportation listed on UShip. I send the complaint to them via email. | |7/20/2015 |Filled out complaint with Attorney General's Office. Answer to their question about resolving the issue: | "Honor their word and pay for the damages to the table. They said they were insured prior to the move. Having completed the move and taking pictures of the damages, they said to send them the estimate to submit to their insurance. They said they submitted it and we should receive it shortly. They were quick to respond to calls prior to the move, but trying to get in touch with them after the move by phone, email, Facebook or letter is impossible. I am concerned about all of their different addresses, phone numbers and email addresses they post on Facebook, Craig's List, etc. as mentioned above." | |7/28/2015 |Email to Chamber of Commerce asking for any suggestions of whom to contact regarding this business. Liz Weaver recommended calling the Better Business Bureau. | |8/3/2015 |Responded to Attorney General's Office request for copies of receipts, emails, etc. so that they can try to help resolve this issue. |
