+ -1 moreSee my comments under " Describe detail of services performed". Note that Don did not address the end cap of the pvc tubing. The reason for the call, initially, was that water was dripping from this elbow tube which was pointed directly to the floor. If this piece of tubing has anything to do with water runoff then why wouldn't it feature some kind of return? Nothing was changed with the tubing except now an end cap was placed on it (and now it doesn't drip). If this end cap wasn't needed at the time of installation, then why is it needed now? Water, dripping from that tubing, was the reason for the service call. So if the end cap would have been on that tubing, in the first place, might I not have had to place a service call? I certainly am not in the a/c profession but if the end cap was not needed then what was I to think of a length of pvc that had an open end?
Description of Work: Placed a call to Werley's to have a tech come out and address a problem with water draining (not leaking) from an elbow on the inside unit, an elbow that was not capped on the end (didn't know if it had to be since we had the unit for over 2 years (they installed the unit in 11/2009). From what I learned, either the pump to push access water into the laundry tub was clogged or the pvc tubing was clogged or partially clogged. Some water would drain into the tub and at the same time would drain from the elbow that went nowhere (water drained on floor). If this was an overflow drain then there should have been a place for this excess water to go other than on the floor. I asked the tech if not capping the elbow was an oversight that should have been addressed at the time of installation. He said no but he capped it at this visit. My gripe is the cost of the service call. $119 just to show up at the door (didn't include doing anything at this point). An additional $106 just to clean the pvc lines and then on top of that a $9 gas surcharge. You'd think that the $119 would have at least included doing something (like cleaning the pvc lines). When I voiced my displeasure, by calling the office, I was told, among other things, that the fuel surcharge is added when gas prices go above $3.50 a gallon. I said that the cost of fuel should not be the concern of the customer and that that is a part of their business costs. His reply was that Werley's does not hide the fuel cost in the service call and is upfront about that charge. Personnally, first there should be no fuel charge and secondly I'd rather not see it as a separate item on the invoice. I think most people would find it offensive that a $9 fuel charge is added to an already $119 service call. Fold it in with the cost of the service call. What kind of answer do you think I'd receive, from my place of work, if I told them I was going to charge them for showing up to work for them on top of them paying me to do the work? Although I said that I would hire again, there was no other choice other than yes or no, that is not a definite.

Several weeks went by and I awarded the contract to someone else before they finally called back to say their quite was ready and they would like to meet with us to discuss it. We told them they were too late. I didn't inquire what their price would have been.

+ -1 moreRec'd 3 estimates from reputable companies on different size (efficiency) units. The 3 brands in question were Armstrong Air, Bryant, and Carrier. Mike Werley seemed most knowledgeable concerning his unit at our sit down appointment. I know each would be boasting about their unit, of course. All three representatives knew what they were talking about but there were issues with some that I did not have with Werley's. The Carrier unit was a little more expensive than the other 2 but I was counting on trouble-free years moreso with the Carrier. Installation went very smoothly (from our end anyway). Brian may have run into problems but never indicated to us that things were not going well. All problems were addressed to our satisfaction. Mike Werley was available before, during, and after installation with any concerns we might have had. I especially liked the fact that Mike came back after the installation and looked at every detail to see if anything had to be addressed before it was closed out. He found a several items that did need to be looked at again (small things that we would not have caught) and the were addressed promptly. The unit has been running since November of 2009 and we have had no problems. This was a large investment but because of the Energy credit available we decided to do it then and take advantage of that. Werley had filled out all the necessary forms that we needed and also for a rebate of $400 that was available from Carrier. Since we had this installed last Novemeber, there wasn't an opportunity to test the ac part of the system. Without a word from us, we rec'd a call a couple of weeks ago (when there were a few days of warm weather) to set up an appointment to test that part of it. I like the fact that Werley's was proactive in this respect. I compared our electric bill from Jan '09 with Jan '10 electric bill (January '10 included the 30% increase). Because of the efficiency of the new unit our kwhs were much less than the previous year. The difference between both bills was nearly $100, probably would have been more without the increase.
