Description of Work: Complete removed of 50-year-old kitchen in 130-year-old house. Reinsulated, update electric, replace back door, re-dry wall, new floor, new cabinets, and finishes.

Description of Work: I signed up for a kitchen design consultation under an Angie's List special promotion (hence the $49 price). I met the designer and an assistant in my kitchen and provided a list of my needs and priorities for the renovation. I was surprised and disappointed that when they returned with a proposed design, they had not focused on my stated needs and priorities but rather pursued ideas for some things I had not asked about and had no real interest in. For instance, I had said that more counter workspace was my highest priority, and more cabinet space was also needed. They proposed to create counter space by moving my wall-mounted oven below an existing piece of counter. But this added surface was not in a very useful location for counter work, and also would mean displacing my only large lower cupboard where all my pots and pans are stored. They proposed creating a narrow wall-to-ceiling pantry on one wall for more storage, but the pots and pans would not fit in it, only canned goods. I already have a large walk-in pantry for all my canned goods and had no need for more of that kind of storage. I had also said specifically that it was important to have floor space remain where cat food and water bowls could be placed without kicking them. They proposed built-in furniture for the breakfast nook (which I had not expressed any interest in) that would occupy the space where the food and water bowls are currently and did not do anything to address where those items could possibly go. I had also asked for shelf space for cookbooks and a telephone, and they didn't plan for those. I had asked for an island and they did not include that. After some discussion they said they would revise the plan and send me an estimate. It took 5 weeks for the estimate to come and did not include everything we had talked about. | |I had also spoken about increasing the natural light in the kitchen as a priority, by enlarging the window and/or putting in a skylight. They indicated that they could not handle those and I would need to get an outside contractor for those items. | |Overall, I got the impression that they are able to do some standard cosmetic upgrades such as countertops and floors and cabinet installation, but they did not have a high level of expertise at full redesign and renovation.

Description of Work: Very professional and responsive. We had them create a plan to rennovate our kitchen. We have not received their proposal and pricing yet. Our interactions with them have been pleasant. They seem as though they would be good to work with

Description of Work: We had multiple outfits give us an estimate for refacing our kitchen. They appeared to be the best price. Their estimate did not have all the details included but each time verbally they said it was included.Response to our questions was slow but eventual. When we decided to go with the initial estimate (two or three weeks after start of the process), they changed their WRITTEN price and increased it by 15%. They said prices went up? This was very unprofessional. So, we went with Anew face kitchens, LLC. Their price was better (less than half the highest estimate we had). They were very professional, caring, responsive, and did a great job.
