For the amount we paid to have living room painted, there should've been more attention to detail such as caulking cracks, spackling dents & seams along plaster wall, sanding areas where needed, painting around electrical outlet & thermostat and along wall corners. There really isn't much detail in our living room and it's not very large, so this was unacceptable. Didn't see him use any spackle for this job. Some houses you can get away with that...this isn't one of them. It's an older house that has had walls and closet built where none existed and WAS NOT done in the right way. And it's been very long time since this room was painted. He has experience painting, but doesn't have skill when it comes to spackling dents, seams, holes or other challenges. Chimney mantle surface had a lot of built-up dirt and debris that had hardened, making it difficult to clean before painting. Instead of scraping off hardened layer and smoothing it out, he painted right over it. I think he applied so much paint it wasn't drying properly. At least he did come back next day to work on it some more. The guy he brought to help him had even less skill. Worst part is, when you tell him something you want redone, he brushes it off and basically doesn't give you chance to bring it up, saying he has to rush off to nearby roof job or wherever. You should never make your customer feel like you are doing rush job or their job is not important to you. Our living room definitely looks better than it did before he painted, but when you look close-up, you don't have to be expert to spot imperfections. And again, for the amount we paid for this job, we deserved better.

Called him and he said he would swing by in a few days and then give me an estimate. Never heard from him again. P.S. to the owner, this job would have led to several thousand dollars of other work.

Dominic was on time and did a great job moving my furniture. Some items were difficult to get around corners and up/down stairs. Dominic ensured that everything was moved without damage. I would use him again for other services.

Based on the contractor's response during our phone conversation, I did not and will never consider using this contractor.
Description of Work: I was calling for estimates to have some home repairs completed which included siding repair, electrical, bathroom tub replacement. When I called someone answered right away. I asked if they could do an estimate and the person told me they charge $45 for an estimate, which, anyone will tell you is a red flag if any contractor charges a fee for an estimate. I asked if that would be applied to the balance due if I chose them to do the work and they said no. Not only was the person I delt with shady, but they also hung up on me when it was clear I would not pay for an estimate. They could potentially charge you for an estimate that was so high one would not pay it and just make money off of estimates. This is fraud and why you should never use a contractor that charges for an estimate. Do not use this contractor under any circumstances!!!

The workers seemed to be fine except that they were incompetent. I would not recommend them to others. I would not use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used the services of Hire A Husband Inc. eighteen months ago. I got my original roof for my garage done by them. They did a horrible job; it blew off in a month. I had to get ridiculed out there because they put it on and it blew away. They blamed wheather conditions and the insurance company blamed them, so I got another provider to come out and do it. The cost was around $1500 to $2000.

I was referred to this handyman by a friend. I contacted the owner once or twice via phone and email and initially didnt get a response. After the third or fourth try, he finally returned my correspondence and left me a message. I called him back and left his voice mail said that he would get back to me within 24 hours but that did not happen. After a couple more voice mails and emails, he finally got back to me saying that he cannot handle any more work this year and referred me to someone else who I never heard of or could not find any information online about. So in the span of a month or so, this guy blew me off and didnt seem interested in my business. Very poor responsiveness.

Mr. Giles was generally very pleasant to interact with. He was cheerful and friendly. However, the work in several domains was sloppy and he was very slow and reluctant to correct things. Also when I would give him a list of things to be fixed, several times he addressed some of the items and told me he was done, but when I checked, he had not done the rest. He also did some things like taking the house numbers down and detaching shutters for painting and then disappeared for the winter without putting them back in place. When I asked him to deal with this, he said he would come right away but it took several more requests over a period of weeks before he actually did. All in all, I was disappointed.

Very well. He was very nice and we felt he was easy to work with. We especially appreciated the fact that he was able to get this repair done before it rained again and that he took the time to examine a faucet problem (we've decided to replace the entire sink and faucet) and tried to do some simple repairs (for no charge).
Description of Work: Dominic gave us a free estimate on repairing our garage siding - some pieces had blown off and been damaged. He took the pieces of aluminum back to his shop, overnight, to have new pieces of siding bent so they fit where the garage roof meets the siding. The next afternoon her returned to install them.

I was working with another company who broke a bi-fold door. Hire A Husband was outsourced by this company to install replacement bi-fold doors. Therefore, I was not responsible for payment. The owner, Dominic, called me to set up an appointment for Monday morning. He was very pleasant. I expected someone early Monday morning, so I was a bit surprised when one of the H-A-H agents called mid-day Monday to confirm. The replacement doors were purchased by the faulting company, and did not initially fit so Hire A Husband took the doors apart and cut them down to make them fit. At first glance, I was really happy with the outcome, but with a closer look I could see that the doors were not cut evenly and were not put back together evenly. When asked, he replied that the doors were "warped" although I could clearly see that this was not the case. He did not ask if I was satisfied and left. I then walked outside to find a huge pile of sawdust that was left for me to clean up.
Description of Work: Hire A Husband was outsourced by another company to install replacement bi-fold doors in my kitchen.
