Bobby & The Floor Sanders

Bobby and his guys did an excellent job in sanding and refinishing our floors. They finished in the agreed amount of time and were very helpful with my wife and I in selecting the right finish. We were also able to stay home for the process which helped a lot due to trying to find a place to stay with our dogs. I am very please with the outcome of the project and will definitely recommend them - Jose L Rodriguez

Unfortunately, I had a poor experience. One of the main issues was scheduling. We had planned service dates in advance. We had to move all our furniture around to clear the area. When it came down to getting work started, they were not able to meet the promised schedule. Their attendance was spotty at best once the work started. What was supposed to take two or three days ended up taking a week. We discovered that one of the rooms had some unexpected gapping between some of the boards. There was some question as to whether or not we should fill the gaps or if we did would they crack in future. The owner is supposed to have over 30 years experience in this field but was not able to advise us on the best way to handle this issue. I tried to turn them as the experts to get an answer and they just wouldn't commit to giving us some advice. In addition, the team was a bit messy while using the polyurethane and wood filler and got it on our freshly painted walls.

The service was great. They came out and did an estimate one day and was back the next to complete the work. They were done in three days. The floors turned out beautiful.

Bobby and the Floor Sanders started out strong. They called me back promptly and came over to our house to give us an estimate. They told us they had a $550 minimum charge but if we did 2 rooms (instead of the one we planned on) they would give us a great deal. We agreed and they told us they would be over to start the job on Friday. As of Thursday afternoon, they had never called to tell me what time to expect them the following day. I called, and at 6pm one of the workers (not Bobby) called me back and asked if they could reschedule to the following Wednesday because some and quot;things had come up.and quot; I explained that this was really putting us out because we had a hard time finding someone to do the job and I am 8 months pregnant, so it needed to be done ASAP. He said he understood and told me he would talk to Bobby and call me back by 8:30AM the following morning (the day they were supposed to start). I never heard from them again. I called the worker who had called me the night before around 10AM on Friday and got no call back. I also called the number that I found online for the company and it told me the voicemail box was full. That was the end of all communication. I ended up using JD Hardwood Floors. He is not on Angie's List but he was SO nice, very affordable, and got the job done. I highly recommend him.

Bobby and his team were recommended by our realtor... we bought a house, and wanted all of the carpeting removed and hardwood floors installed over about 1800 square feet of space. Bobby's price was reasonable (by doing price comparisons I estimated it to be in the lower- to mid-range of standard prices). He did an excellent job installing and staining the floors, but I noticed that around the kitchen center island and cabinets there was no moulding or edging put in... there was just an open gap between the floor and the island/cabinets. I had already paid, but I called him back and asked him to finish, since in my mind the floor isn't finished until all of the edging is done. I called at least 5 times over a month, and finally had to have someone else finish it up. Really annoying, especially considering that otherwise the floor looks very good. In general Bobby only responded to phone calls about half the time, but I wouldn't have any complaints if the last bit of edging in the kitchen had been done.

very professional and excellant workmanship. I had an engineered floor that buckled so I didnt want another one. I wanted a solid oak floor on top of my cement first floor ( no basement) and out of 4 contractors, they were the only ones that would take the time to figure out how to do what i requested. From helping me pick out a stain to the final coat, this company went beyond to make sure I was a happy customer. Just to let you know how good these people are, there was some bubbles that formed with the last coat of varnish and Bobby was not happy with it so they redid the top coat at no extra charge. I thought it looked fine but Bobby and the workers being perfectionists as they are, insisted. The results were perfection!. I love my solid oak floor and am glad that I hired Bobby and the Floor Sanders. YES ! I would hire them again.

I heard that there maybe a change in ownership. I spent $3500 on that job. The third floor refinishing was an-add-on job at the last minute which they had no problem doing and gave me a really good price for it and the work was good. The only thing I did not care for was the amount of sand and dirt, but I guess that it is inevitable when you are getting your floors done. The clean up wasn’t done, but they did a good job on the floors. They were professional and I did not have any problems.

Up front, we were advised that Bobby (the owner and person we had hired approximately two years ago to re-finish a floor for which we were very satisfied) was ill and would not be available to do this particular job. No problem, hope you feel better soon, Bobby! We were given a start date and the re-finishers arrived on time. They did a very good job over a 3-day period. We are very satisfied with the results. What we were unsatisfied with was the lack of professionalism with the fellows who did the work. They lugged their heavy machinery into the house and on our wool area rug without laying down any kind of protection. They left sawdust all over our carpet and made no attempt to apologize or clean it up. They 'bounced' their machinery up the stairs; again, no protection on the carpet. During the job, they were constantly slamming doors (both my husband and I work at home) and at one point, I overheard a crude comment. I'm sure they didn't know I could hear them, but still, that type of conversation should not be taking place, especially if the homeowners are present. The first, day they left garbage bags with their refuse on our front lawn. When we brought it to their attention, they said that it was ours. In other words, we had to dispose of it. They also sealed up some shelves in the two closets with plastic, which we really appreciate so no dust could settle on office supplies, but they left it there. Now I have to go carefully peel the plastic packing tape off of the walls and dispose of more of their (excuse me our, ahem) garbage. Overall, we were unimpressed with the lack of customer courtesy, although the work they completed was very good. I would suggest that they take some classes in professional customer courtesy, clean up after themselves and be aware that the characteristics they displayed reflect badly on their company.

I got a verbal estimate over the phone based on the size of the room to have the hardwood floor sanded and polyurethaned. The woman who answers their phones told me they would be there on a certain day first thing in the AM. They never showed up. We called and they said they would come the next day - they never did. This went on for 2+ weeks with promises to come at least 4 times. Only once did they actually call me and say they weren't coming. Finally after almost 3 weeks, we called and left a message asking them to please call us back within 24 hours to at least tell us if they were going to do the job or not. They didn't call at all! We finally reached them and the woman who answers the phone said "Well, Bobby had a bunch of guys quit on him and things are crazy" - when we pushed for an answer as to whether he was coming or not, she said "No, I guess not" - No apology at all!! We had not given them any money or signed any type of contract so I had nothing to fall back on. The level of professionalism was horrible - I have always heard, if you are happy with a craftsman, tell 10 people, if you are unhappy, tell 100! Well, I am certainly doing that with Bobby and the Floor Sanders of Allentown, PA.
