Color Scheme Painting

We had used Kathy and Conrad last year to have the inside of our home painted and they did an awesome job. We had the exterior of our property painted with it being finished by them several months ago. Again, just a fabulous job, meticulously completed and very professional. We wanted to use a custom color and Kathy was extremely helpful in working with us to match and work with the paint supplier. We also had a porch enclosed at the same time and Kathy was great in co-ordinating work and painting for us as this is a vacation home and we are not there all of the time. Highly recommend and these are the best painters that we have ever worked with.

Went very smoothly. Kathy is extremely meticulous in her assessment and planning. She took great pains to make sure the products she was going to use would be compatible with the existing stains on the building. Also made sure the surfaces were properly prepared and cracks caulked so the new stain would have a long service life. Very neat job done by the entire team. Took a little longer than planned due to weather, but they made sure everything had a chance to dry to ensure the new product adhered properly, and got the job finished as quickly as possible.

Outstanding quality. We learned many years ago with upkeep of an old house in Philadelphia that, "Good painting ain't cheap, and cheap painting ain't good." For the house in the Poconos I would hope to have Color Schemes continue for many years as their quality exterior work preserves the house from the elements and the quality interior work makes for a pleasant environment.

Everything went great. They are by far the best painters in all of the Poconos. They are maticulous and attentive to every detail. Kathy was very particular about finding the appropriate stain to match our newly installed siding. Her advice was taken and the seletion was perfect. No mess whatsoever! Color Schemes came to our home as scheduled and spent a lot of time discussing the job requirements and took measurements. Estimate has since been received. Will compare with others and depending on outcome of these estimates, am hopeful we will be able to come to an agreement Color Schemes.

I do not write a lot of reviews for contractors. And when I do, it seems they are negative. Finding good help in our region of the Poconos can be quite a frustrating. Sometimes just getting a contractor to return your call can be incredibly challenging. Working with Color Schemes was a whole new experience for us. I take a great deal of pride in our property as it has been in my family for over 30 years. So when it came to painting the whole exterior, I wanted it to be done correctly. Color Schemes has a good reputation in our development. I had seen their work on other houses and was always impressed with the selected color combinations. I also knew that Kathy Sauer had a good eye for color combinations. So we moved forward with them. The experience could not have gone better. We ended up with a beautiful color combination. And the job was fantastic. Why? It was the way they approached their work. They take a great deal pride and ownership in what they do. They treat your home like it was their own. They were meticulous beyond expectation. They worked with us through many subtle color combinations to find just the right one. They worked very closely with Sherwin Williams with whom they have a strong contractor-vendor relationship, even having them visit the property on several occasions to ensure they were using the right product for each challenge they faced on a house with many surfaces that had not been painted in 20 years. They were meticulous ensuring that the foundation was free of all flaws prior to painting. I would not say they were cheap, nor would I say they were expensive. I got what I paid for and that was a beautiful paint job that I suspect will last many, many years and in which I can take pride. Don’t hesitate. I have never worked with a contractor who was that concerned about how much we liked their work.

If you have wood panelling in your home and want to paint over it rather than replace it with sheetrock, give Color Schemes a call! Kathy and Conrad did an excellent job of getting us started on our Poconos vacation house renovations. They had extensive knowledge of the homes in the area and gave us an honest estimate of the amount of work and materials it would take to cover the existing wood paneling of various colors (blue, maroon, and off-white) in 3 of our highest traffic rooms. They were very upfront about possible issues that could come up (extra coats of primer that might be needed for full coverage, etc). They performed repairs to sagging ceilings, took extra care with trim, and worked well together as a team to make sure the outcome was what we wanted. There were careful with our furniture and fixtures, and everything was returned to its starting state before they considered the job done. We had opportunities to meet and talk with them regularly (Kathy is great about updating you throughout the project via phone or in person) and in the end there were no surprises - just 3 great looking rooms with a much needed face lift!

SUPERB. They were in regular contact with us updating us on their progress. They spotted things that we hadn't seen that needed attention. They put hours of care into their prep work. Nail pops, stains, etc. They dealt with them all. They carefully taped all the woodwork. There are no spills or drips. They are true professionals. I would hire them again in a minute.

I couldn't be happier with them. They gave me a written estimate and everything was in writing which I like. They were working on our vacation property but they treated it like our home. They are a husband and wife team and I was thrilled with their attention to detail and how great of a job they did.

We met Cathy and Conrad Sauer of Color Schemes early last fall (2012) and felt comfortable with them, almost immediately. Our situation was an unusual one and they were willing to explore many options with us to solve the issues we were facing. Unfortunately, I had to have surgery in October 2012 and was bed ridden until April of this year (2013). During this time, Cathy called us frequently to see how I was doing and to offer her and Conrad's support. In late Spring of this year (2013), we reconnected with Color Schemes and decided to move ahead with our plans to have our house interior painted. Cathy and Conrad spent many hours working on color choices with us and custom matching a color that was on our great room's vaulted ceiling. Although they usually don't do interior work in the summer (our house is not air conditioned), they agreed to paint our house on days when they could not work outside. Their work was impeccable; they sanded the walls before they painted and masked off beams, trim, hinges, door knobs and carpeting. The paint on the walls is smooth and even and the trim and doors (both white semigloss) have no smudges or streaks. I now have a beautifully painted house that brings a big smile to my face. THANK YOU Cathy and Conrad Sauer of Color Schemes! They are really nice people who do great work. They are a great company, work very hard and are committed to what they do. Their price is fair and i think they were well within the range of others companies but their quality of work far exceeds the work of many comparable companies.

Kathy and Conrad of Color Schemes painted the exterior of my house and decks in Pa. They did all the prep work, Power washing house and decks, stripping the decks of old paint and replacing damaged trim. The house and decks were brush painted with two coats of red and matching trim colors. The decks were painted with oil paint and new lattice was installed. The house and decks look beautiful. Color Schemes did a great job.

Kathy and Conrad painted the interior of my house. They did all the prep work on he ceilings and walls. When they finished painting, the colors on the trim and wall matched beautifully. They did an excellent job and I will have them back in April 2013 to paint the exterior of the house.

Our master bathroom had an issue where nicotine seeped through the walls. We were looking just to have it sealed and painted. We received two painters with vast knowledge, experience and expertise who not only did a great job but gave us additional options in how to go about getting the results we wanted. They are pleasant, hardworking and go above and beyond what the job required. Instead of just painting, they removed fixtures and blinds, as well as caulked areas which needed to be. They won't just paint a room they will improve it. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They have the knowledge, experience, and workmanship to get the job done above your expectations.

Once again Color Scheme took care to do the job right. Their skill and attention to detail shows through in the finished job. We could not be more pleased. If you want the job done right with no surprises this is the contractor to call.

I used them previously to paint the interior of my home. It is a husband and wife team that did the job, and they were very good. It was a tough job because it is two stories. I was very pleased with the way they worked. The price was reasonable for what they did for me. They were very clean and precise.

Overall, this project went excellently. Near perfect, I'd have to say. We purchased this property in March 2005, and could not wait to replace the hideous blue color that was on everything--exterior and interior. We called Color Schemes right after the snow melted, and asked them to get to work ASAP. They did. They were helpful on every aspect of the project--from initial color choices and matching, to paint selection, to the actual steam cleaning and painting. All their work was meticulous. One of the many reasons we prefer them over other contractors is they do all their work themselves, and take full responsibility for everything they do. They do not sub out anything. They also do most of their painting work with brushes, and hand-lay all the stain. No spray painting or rollers with them. They also insist on using only the highest quality paints and stains. Their post-painting clean up was meticulous. There were no telltale signs that they had ever been there--that is except for the stunning house color we continue to enjoy. The end result of all their professional work is that, six years later, our home still looks great! There's been no peeling or cracking, and only minor discoloration from exposure to ultraviolet radiation that is in plentiful supply here on the mountaintop--no fault of theirs. Since that initial exterior project, we've made them our #1 call for anything having to do with painting--including all of our interiors, two new wood fences, two new decks, and a spa/hot tub installation. It's hard for us to imagine calling anyone else. They are not and quot;bargainand quot; contractors, and they simply do not know how to, and won't, do sloppy work. They also work well with other contractors. We created a new sunroom from the old garage, installing new doors and windows. Color Schemes coordinated perfectly with them. All in all, when you hear the old saying, and quot;You get what you pay for,and quot; nothing could apply more appropriately than to this very professional painting contractor.

I felt confident from our first meeting that Conrad and Kathy would treat our home like their own. To say our home had issues is an understatement. Being 2 hours away (this is a weekend home) and with 2 children still in school it was hard for me to be there when the work was being done, this is where Kathy's communication skills and experience were so valuable to us. Kathy never failed to keep us up-to-date on progress and to help us find contractors to take care of problems that occurred during the projects (the problems were not Color Scheme fault ). They went above and beyond the scope of the work in helping us through a very trying experience (we could not have done it without them). The attention to detail and their superior workmanship turned our house into a home. The exterior paint and deck stain is gorgous it is exactly what we wanted and more. The interior looks brand new we were especially impressed with the staining of the woodwork which complements our wood floor and stairs perfectly. Even the old front door which we were going to replace was transformed with paint into a brand new looking door. The fact that they took the extra time and effort to "do it right the first time" made all the difference. I think if we had went with another contractor they would have just slapped on the paint and we would have been disappointed. As you can tell we have nothing but praise for Color Schemes and would recommend them to family and friends without hesitation. I would not trust anyone else. As an aside during the recent storms they took time out of their busy schedule to check on our home (without us even asking) to assure us everything was ok.

Excellent job. Meticulous preparation and cleaning with the pressure wash, and careful hand-laid application of the stain. Finish very even, smooth and consistent coloration. Cleaned up carefully after the job was finished. There were a few delays along the way, but this was no fault of the contractor, but rather weather-related challenges they had to face over which they have no control. I called this company to perform these services because I have had consistently excellent service from them in the past. They have performed for me first-rate exterior paining, interior painting, trim painting and deck cleaning and staining. They created a smooth and even surface on all of these jobs. I hope I don't ever have to bother with any other paint contractor. I would surely be disappointed by their service, as I have been quite spoiled by the very professional approach Color Schemes takes with all of its work, with all of its customers. On a side note: as I was searching here for this company, I ran across a previous post, calling this company and quot;just another Pocono contractorand quot;, which baffles me why anyone would say this about Color Schemes, as my experience with them (and apparently everyone else here who has used them) has been totally the opposite. It saddens me to see a person on here trying to use Angie's List to post false facts in an attempt to damage the reputation of a legitimate first-rate contractor--who, just to set the record straight, is definitely NOT and quot;just another Pocono contractor.and quot; We all know it's true that there are a lot of and quot;just another Pocono contractorsand quot; out there, and this can cause a lot of frustration to us homeowners in this area. But why take out one's personal frustrations about the general lack of professionalism of contractors in this area, by criticizing one of the handful of them who are really good? Good contractors like Color Schemes need to be encouraged, not slammed unfairly because someone is frustrated in general. This kind of slamming does not do anyone any good here at Angie's List, and in fact it only detracts unnecessarily (and untruthfully) other persons who are just like this poster, always in search of good and reliable contractors, and who have a great deal of trouble finding one.

After I had called initally and left a message they called me back right away. I was quite pleased at the prompt call back. The female owner was pretty nice at first but then when I told her I lived about 30 minutes from her, she seemed turned off, and told me she probably wouldn't be interested. Then, for some reason wanted to know if I lived in a community (I don't) and what my house looks like on the outside (i.e. siding, brick, stucco, plywood etc) I thought this was unusual because I was inquiring about inside work.. She then told me she would come for estimate in a few days, but she never called back. I called her again, and she assured me again they would call back to arrange an appointment for the estimate, but that was the last I had heard from them. That was months ago.... Not very professional. Seems like just another typical Pocono area contractor. Very frustrating.

This is a husband and wife team; they do not hire others; both come to the job. They spend about 5 to 6 hrs on the job each day. Cathy (the wife in the team) will spend whatever time is necessary to assist in choosing colors and/or providing info you may not be aware of on colors you have chosen. Cathy also has an eagle-eye at examining the work that was done the day before to make sure that everything is even and nothing has been missed. Conrad (the husband in the team) does the repair and painting; he is very meticulous in his work and he does a superb job. There were no accidents such as spills or furniture scratches. They clean up after themselves. We could not be happier with the final result. This team does quality work and takes pride in their work. We have already referred others to them and we will have no hesitations about using them again. I give them 5 out of stars *****.

Came when they were suppose to, did all clean up after they were done. Job looked terriffic and still does. Have recommended to any body who asks about their painting.

They arrived on the day they scheduled. The only drawback was the weather for the outside and the contractor has no control over that. As soon as the weather permitted, they came and painted. The inside was done without us even being there and was beautifully painted when we arrived home. We will always have Color Scheme do our painting for us.
