RAY GARVIN

Overall I was very satisfied with the work he did and service he provided. I would use him again.

Ray is a straightforward, pleasant man who is easy to work with and direct in his business dealings with us as customers. He got to work right away and replaced some outlets. He then troubleshooted a non-functioning outdoor light and outlet, and got them fixed up right away. I would certainly have Ray over for other work of a similar nature.

Ray responded prompty to our call - met with us to go over our needs, gave a reasonable estimate and started soon after we said "yes." Everything is now completed to our satisfaction. We joined Angie's list to find a handyman and feel we got our money's worth on our first experience. Would highly recommend Ray Garvin to anyone who needs handyman services, in fact, we are starting a "Ray List" list for the New Year.

I was looking into a water-powered back-up sump pump. Contractor contacted me in a timely manner but stated that he had never heard of this system. He stated that he would investigate and get back to me. I never heard from him.

Extremely happy with Ray....arrived early and was finished his work within 2 hours. Very friendly and professional. Will definitely use him again in the future!

My garage filled up with water everytime it rained heavily causing water to back up into my basement causing many items to be ruined. I had Mr. Garvin install a sump pump in my garage and haven't had any leakage into the basement since. Mr. Garvin did an excellent job, having to dig through several inches thick concrete to properly install the unit. He did this at a very reasonable cost and time frame.

He put in a regular switch due to the possibility of a fire with the turning light switch. He did a good job and was very cordial.

We were very pleased with his punctuality and attention to detail. Also, we liked that he clearly explained what had to be done so that we knew what to expect. We would use him again.

Instead of an estimate, we decided to pay Ray by the hour and gave him a list of things to do. We bought the faucets ourselves but he provided the other supplies and garbage disposal. We were very happy with his work. He did everything professionally, neatly and was very accommodating. He showed up on time for each job and returned our calls promptly. We were also impressed with his honesty. He gave us reasonable recommendations on the repairs and even talked us out of doing some unnecessary work. Overall we were very happy with Ray and will use him again. We have recommended him to our friends and neighbors as well.

I had multiple small plumbing repairs that needed to be done in my mother's 100+ year old home. Ray returned my call promptly & showed up when promised. He came prepared to work & completed the work the same day in a professional & efficient manner. I felt the charges for the work were very reasonable. Ray is extremely pleasant to work with & I will definitely call him again.

It went extremely well and I will call Mr. Garvin again without question.

I CHOSE HIM BECAUSE HE'S LOCAL, I TRY AND DEAL LOCAL AND HAD MOST ALL A RATINGS ON HERE, NEVER RETURNED MY PHONE CALL OR E-MAIL, I DON'T THINK I NEED TO MAKE REPEATED CALLS TO GET A RETURN CALL BACK EVEN IF ITS TO SAY I'M REALLY BACKED UP. I'VE USED OTHER SERVICES ON HERE AND GET AN ANSWER AND PROMPT SERVICE I DON'T UNDERSTAND SOME BUSINESS PEOPLE.

We hired a different contractor that was able to dispose of the materials and install a nail-down floor.

Ray arrived on time and started work immediately. He started on moving the outside wire so that it went under our siding and was basically hidden from sight. He installed a new ground wire. He did an incredible job. What a great improvement it was for our back patio. Next, Ray worked on replacing the old vinyl dryer vent. Once he disconnected the old one, he cleaned up behind the dryer then installed the new vent.. His work is neat and it couldn't have been done any better. After that, Ray worked on repairing the difficult faucets in our powder room. I had tried to do this myself, but gave up and decided to call Ray. Finally, Ray replaced the leaky dual shutoff valve to our washing machine. Hereto, Ray did a neat efficient job. This was the first time we used Ray and were very pleased with his work. He is a true gentleman and a hard worker with incredible knowledge of fixing household problems. We wouldn't hesitate to use him in the future.

Ray was pleasant and responsive, he came on time, set to work and completed everything I asked for and worked carefully and efficiently, and his price seemed fair.

DON GARVIN installed a sink, toilet, and newly refinished claw foot tub and shower. The toilet works fine but he left it unfinished. The sink leaks. both the hot and cold water feeds that he installed... brand new... were dripping when he left my house. The tub overflow leakes all over the place. He greased a cone washer for the shower that the manufacturer later told me should NEVER be greased. They actually asked me if this guy was really a plumber since they said any plumber should know how to install a cone washer. The result? The cone washed, under teh pressure of the nut screwed down on top of it, is suppoed to help hold the shower pipe in place. Since the grease made it slippery, however, my shower launched off of the faucet as soon as any water pressure was applied to it... like a rocket... soaking my cieling, walls, everything BUT the person trying to shower. He also chipped the finish on my NEWLY refinished antique claw foot tub and, last but not least, today the shower curtain rod fell from its brand new ceiling mounted flange. Why? The brand new single screw holding the brand new rod in place was stripped and the rod had been rigged to just hang there. Its a miracle it lasted this long. There is not a single piece of work that DON did on this trip that was done well, with no damage. The kicker is... the bill was 50% higher than his original estimate. Make sure you get RAY... not DON.

He did an excellent job. I chose him for he has several good reviews and he is reasonable and he is personable and a hard worker.

He's prompt, he's professional, he's very knowledgeable and he's fair with his pricing. I wouldn't use anybody else.

Ray showed up on time, did the work as promised, was very professional and neat, and charged the estimated amount. We were very pleased with his performance.

They were absolutely wonderful! He is a really nice guy. He has been here several times. He is very reasonable in his price. He does the work. He is very neat in his appearance and he is extremely neat in the way he works. I was more than pleased with his services overall.

After giving us an estimate over email, Mr. Garvin scheduled to do the work within the same week. He arrived promptly (early in the AM, so we weren't even late for work!), did a great job with the sink, and was done in less than the two hours we expected. He left everything very clean and neat - even cleaned the sinktop where the old faucet was before replacing with a new one! As an added bonus, Mr. Garvin noticed that we had forgotten to winterize our outdoor hose faucet, so he thawed and drained it and turned it off in the basement, likely saving us a costly pipe-bursting accident this winter. He also installed a new soap dispenser for us. Mr. Garvin is a true professional and a gentleman. I am so glad we found him! We would definitely use him again in the future, and recommend him highly.

All the work that Mr. Garvin did was of the highest quality. He would not do anything that was not of the highest quality. He has very high, exacting standards. I am exceedly pleased with his work. Do seek Mr. Garvin's services. There are not "Don'ts."

There was a write up on him in a magazine. He is a handyman. He has continually been the best. He is really great. I like everything about him. He is really good. We have used a number of handymen over the years and he is by far the best. He is responsive and prompt. He is extremely professional in his work. He will tell you if there is something that he can?t do. I would give him the highest grades. I think he charged me about $50 an hour for the last job and that doesn?t include the cost of the materials. I would use his services in the future too.

He's awesome. The sad part is, he's getting older so he could retire in the next five years. He's not in a rush. He doesn't give you the sense that he's there to stop the leak and get out. He looked at the big picture by going down in the basement and seeing that the pipe system was inefficient. He suggested I change out two pipes and the whole system would improve. He said if the water had been flowing fast enough, there would not have been a leak. He came back to make the flow faster by implementing the changes thanks to his experience.
