On Electric

This is the fourth time I have used DeKorte electic during the past five years. Steve has done all of the work and i asked specifically for him. Very prompt. Polite and professional. Work is stellar and complete. makes sure all of the proper permits are filled out. Cleaned up the area he worked in. Everything looked great and worked well. I really appreciate that he found the other potential serious problem. Very dependable. You can tell he takes pride in this work.. Would highly recommend this electrician and company.

I found DeKorte Electric on Angie's List, and called the office on a Monday, hoping to schedule a service call on Tuesday. The person who answered the phone said the first available appointment wasn't until Thursday, but that she'd check with the owner to see if there might be something available earlier, and she'd call back with information. I got a call an hour or two later on Monday, saying that the owner could come to my house Tuesday between 10 a.m.and noon to do the job. He arrived at about 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, quickly determined that a fuse was bad inside the control box. He replaced that and replaced the breaker. He also noticed one of the kitchen outlets, the one with the GFI, had been installed poorly. (It had been done prior to my buying the house.) I asked him to replace the outlet, and he did what turned out to be a complicated job efficiently and in a timely manner. He needed to make a trip to the hardware store to get a part, but didn't charge me for the travel time. He also gave me valuable information on some other issues, but left it up to me to decide how/when to address those. Overall, I was pleased with his professionalism, and impressed by the work. I'd recommend DeKorte Electric to anyone.

Sam, DeKorte's Project Estimator, answered all our questions in plain language and quoted a price lower than his competitor. He explained his reasoning for the lower bid while speaking respectfully of the competition. He kept us informed about a delay by the supplier of the crucial connectors. Two persons worked 3 days to do the job. Duston and Steve were punctual, and always considerate about being in someone's home. Their professionalism, extending even to triple-checking in a few instances where it was prudent, gave us full confidence in their work. Safety and quality were their constant guidelines, especially when they were solving problems on this complex job. We were consulted at every decision point, such as risky wiring installed previously, and they left things tidy every day. The ultimate impression was that DeKorte had assigned us its best crew. Beyond that, we enjoyed their company so much that we missed them showing up on the morning after they finished! Although the labor exceeded the estimated time, Sam honored his original quote!

Ken DeKorte was efficient and informative and considerate of my husband's health issues so suggested the smoke detectors, which we did not know wasn't working. He pointed out safety concerns to address as soon as I could get back to work and afford the additional work, which was very reasonable. We heartly recommend DeKorte Electric.

I had a broken plug outlet that needed to be fixed. One part was broken off. Wiring is old and did not feel comfortable replacing it myself. My initial call to them was wonderful. Very nice gal said they could get someone out there later that day (around 4:30). My only minus was that the fellow was late. I do understand having days where things take longer than you think they will, but didn't call until an hour past when I was told they would be here. Once Steve did get here, he got right to work, fixed the outlet and installed a sticker on the circuit breaker to show permitted. If I had needed more done the price probably would have seemed better.

We had several issues (bath outlets not working, hall lights not working, GFI outlet self-destructed, etc.) that finally needed attention. We thought that we had potentially serious issues with our wiring. We searched Angie's list and found DeKorte having all A's. We believe they deserve their perfect rating. Speaking as a small businessman, the price was fair. The quality of work was great. The electrician was efficient and explained what was wrong on our level without judgement (even when the reason for our hall lights not working was a switch in the middle position). We did not know what to expect but were dreading the outcome. After the electrician left all our concerns were relieved. We will be having them back for additional work.

The office person who made the appointment was complete and quick and professional. The electrician Kevin was prompt, courteous and competent. It was a very satisfactory experience and we'll use them again I felt the price was fair as well. I recommend them without any reservations.

Steve did an excellent job! Power was out in the entire house. Called on a Saturday, and Steve was there within an hour. He diagnosed the problem as a siding contractor who somehow managed to put a nail into the electrical panel from the outside. Fixed the problem quickly and thoroughly. Kept me informed the entire time. Final bill was very reasonable, given the weekend service and quality of the work.

They did a wonderful job. I was referred to the company by an organization i am affiliated with. The pricing was really fair.

Dekorte Electric was the electrical subcontractor and rewired a duplex on Lombard as well as my residence in NorthWest Portland. All work was completed correctly and the employees were polite and worked quickly. All work was permitted and passed the city electrical inspection. You can hire DeKorte Electric with confidence.

Randy was excellent. Scheduling was easy and he came out to our house for multiple visits as we purchased fixtures and were ready. It was a lovely experience, start to finish. He gave us great advice on how to approach some of the lighting situations we were trying to fix and knew everything about what was conforming to code or not. He didn't even skip a beat when we asked him to hang a huge chandelier in a very high location. His knowledge of how houses work and the electrical side of things was totally impressive - while simultaneously totally laid back. He had a total "can-do" attitude about everything we threw at him and helped us figure out cost effective yet attractive ways to accomplish our hopes. We'll call Dekorte and request him every time we need electrical work!

For more than two weeks, the electricity in certain parts of my house would go out. I would go to the breaker box and turn the circuit breakers off and on, and the electricity would return. I decided that I had better have the problem checked out and called my regular electrician. He could not come for more than ten days. I made the appointment. A few days later, on a Saturday, the electricity went out but would not turn on again -- the freezer and dishwasher were in parts where the electricity went out. I called my regular electrician -- he could not come until the date previously set. But I needed someone immediately. I scrolled through Angie's list of A-level electricians looking for one who was available on an emergency basis. There were not many. I called Dekorte Electric, Inc. My call was quickly answered by a friendly and efficient woman from their answering service. She assured me that she would call an electrician immediately, and he would call me back. Soon, Steve called me, asked me a few questions, and assured me that he would be to my house in less than an hour. It turns out that the three Dekorte electricians available for emergencies live in different parts of town, so they reach customers quickly. Steve came to my house, I explained the problem as I saw it, and showed him the circuit breaker box. He wanted to look outside where the electric wires connect to my house. He thought that a connection was deteriorated. He called PGE, explained the situation, and 10-20 minutes later, a PGE electrician arrived, inspected the old line connection, and said he could fix it within 10 minutes. He did -- he, too, was friendly and knowledgeable. Steve suggested that we inspect the circuit breaker box and confirm that all the lights (and freezer and dishwasher) were working. They were. I've had problems with repair people who made their repairs but did not check them out only for me to discover after they left that the repair didn't work. So, I am very happy with Dekorte Electric. Steve stated as he was going out my door, "I love my job."

Their bid was everything we wanted. Their bid was a little less in price. They showed up on time and they did everything that we asked.

They are prompt, knowledgable, effective, and they clean up after themselves when the work is complete. They are very friendly and I would recommend them to other members.

They replaced the meter head and box. They also made the main circuit up to date. They have done the work for me a couple of times. They are good and they are reasonable. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again. They are good people and they do good work.

The electrician, Steve, was here when he said that he would be here. He was very respectful and courteous. He completed the job in the timeline he said he would have it done. The price wasn?t the cheapest but it was in the ballpark. The quality was excellent. I would use them again.

Steve from DeKorte arrived on time, worked quickly and efficiently, and got everything working properly. He and Ken, the owner, are great problem solvers and go the extra mile to provide excellent service. Steve even helped me replace a balancer that had come loose on a piece of furniture that had to be moved to do the electrical work. This is my third or fourth experience with DeKorte and they have been fabulous every time. In one instance, Steve found and corrected a potentially dangerous electrical problem at a rental property I own that the city building inspector had missed!

The originally agreed upon time to meet the electrician was missed. There was a communication error, perhaps on both sides, though cost my friend an afternoon off work to wait for the electrician to show up. The electrician did arrive as promised the next day and performed the work professionally. I did not get an invoice until I called for a copy because it was paid by credit card. Office admin. told me that the customer (me) is charged for drive time at the full rate of $90.00/hour, and the original estimated drive time was 15-20 minutes. Fortunately, I was not charged for this. It seems like a bad policy to me. I would have been reluctant to re-hire this company if I had been charged for $90/hour drive time.

Very professional and did a good job on the wiring and requested items and in addition completed the jobs in a manner that enhanced the look or minimized the impact of the plugs and wiring.
