On Electric

Ken has been here before so we knew the quality of work would be excellent. He arrived and disconnected the garbage disposal wire and put in new, kitchen ceiling light. Then tried to put in new ceiling lights in family room, but they hung too low and wouldn't be appropriate. Then he checked the attic and discovered dead mouse had shorted switch. Since we had to get different ceiling lights and switch for attic, we sceduled another time for him to return. The next visit, Ken replaced damaged attic switch and put up the two new ceiling lights in the family room. We appreciate Ken's skill and knowledge with electrical needs or problems. Also, appreciate that he cleans up after himself. He is is a good guy and will get the job done for you.

The electrician was prompt, courteous. and cheerful. Worked quickly. Explained problem and work clearly.

Well the electrician called to say he'd be late. He needed to get parts.The job was to start at 8AM. I had to take my child to school. I returned home at 9:20. He started work then. He looked at my light fixtures and saw there were no canopies and said " well, I can't do anything.". This seemed a bit extreme given that all I had to do was go get canopies from Lowe's which I did. Trying to find a place to put boxes in my ceiling was tricky given the joists. He put 15 holes in the ceiling that were larger than door knobs. Then he had to go get the correct boxes from a supply place in Tualatin. After 3 hours he had the ceiling ready to install the lights and the other fixture removed. Then he cleaned up. It seemed like a lot of time for this amount of work. When it came time to charge me he stated that he started work at 9:15 - a small amount but not accurate. I was charged $155 for the first hr and I had a $50 coupon. Then I was charged $125 for each additional hr. I stated that they had told me $105 for following hrs over the phone. The electrician left and I called the office. The gentleman who answered the phone stated that it was $105 for additional hrs and I explained that I'd been over charged. I got a call back from the office who explained that they never told me $105 and that the gentleman answering the phone was part of their answering services and that he had quoted the wrong fee. Odd that it was the same fee I heard last week. Update: Manager of company contacted me and offered to correct the price back to what I was originally quoted which I greatly appreciated. I would do business with them again.

The service itself went quite well. The pricing seemed reasonable, though not great (i.e. comparable to other bids we had solicited). The one big stain on the experience was that between accepting their proposal and actually receiving service we waited over two months without receiving any contact back whatsoever after multiple requests for information. Apparently, our job "fell through the cracks" somewhere. Once we finally did get in touch with someone they were very apologetic, however, and things moved quickly from there onward.

(The work was actually done on my Son's house and here is his words.) It went Fantastic. From the first call Shara was clear articulate and helpful. I communicated with her on 5 occasions throughout the process and each time she was friendly and easy to work with. She schedule on of her electricians, Steve, to come out and preform the work. Steve was Awesome. This was true from when he came out gave an estimate and discuss things as well as when he later returned and preformed the work. We (the home owner and a talented friend) had torn apart our basement wall because of a water intrusion back on October 31st.The original idea was that now that the water leak was fixed and everything all torn apart anyway that we would install a 100 amp sub-panel in the garage (for future expansion someday) that taped off of the main in the aforementioned basement wall. At this point Steve came out and gave the estimate. Then after we had contracted with Steve to put in the subpanel we (the home owner) decide that we (the home owner) could add 4 plugs to the wall where the main box was. When Steve returned to do the work two days later he was exceedingly polite in telling us that our addition constituted new wiring and needed to be certified by the city. He even explained how we can go about doing it ourselves. After understanding how to do it I then realized that it was more than I desired to do. So I asked Steve if he could do it and take care of the permit. Steve was happy to help. Keep in mind that this was a real curveball that I had inadvertently threw them without warning. Both Steve and Shara really stepped up to the plate and fixed the mess I was starting. Steve even went threw and made sure everything was inspection ready. They were even were nice enough to add it on to my existing work and permit so my "oops" only adjusted the price by 100 dollars, which is incredible considering they provided a CB that was $45 on it own. (Feedback from knowledgeable friends said that I was super lucky and they were super nice with this curveball). They were even able to schedule the electrical inspection for the next day. The inspection went off without a hitch. So now We (the home owner) are putting up drywall and all the remaining touch as I type.

They were able to come out immediately. I bought a new dryer and learned that the outlet was the wrong kind, so had to replace it. Electician was a nice gury and really helpful. I've used this company before and I would again.

It went great! The electrician was efficient and nice to work with.

I thought the cost was high and they seemed salesy.

We have a rental house and the electricity went out in half of it during the heat wave. I was out of town at the time and someone else found DeKorte Electric to send an electrician to investigate. It was difficult to find the cause of the outage and the electrician had to go around in the attic for a long time. Again this was during the heat wave so I know that wasn't easy. It was boiling up there. The electrician found a problem in the junction box and restored electricity, but in the process left the house without a functioning doorbell. When I called to find out what happened, I basically got no response. I called the main number and asked for the electrician to call my cell phone so that I can learn about what went wrong and what needed to be done next. He called my home phone instead and left a message for me to call his cell phone. OK no problem, except I called that number repeatedly and could not get through. I'd only get a voice mail that said it was full so I could not leave a message... I called the main number again, explaining the situation, and asking for the electrician to call my cell phone. Nothing. No one ever called me back. Did I need a new junction box? What is a junction box and is this critical? Was the doorbell fix something that they would do or should I call someone else? I had no idea. There was no report and no one ever followed up. You'd think that, at the very least, if you leave a house without a functioning doorbell, you'd either want to follow up with another appointment to fix the bell or let the people know what to do to follow up. I finally had to call another electrician to figure out what happened in the attic and also restore the doorbell. The whole thing was finally resolved in September--more than one month later...

Very well, look forward to using their services in the future! I was fortunate to have my mom ask as project manager, as I had to be at work; but I was there to do a quick walk through before I left and learned a lot about my current panel, and electrical outlets. Thank you!

Prompt, courteous, and friendly, my electrician quickly performed the needed work for a very reasonable amount. I highly recommend DeKorte and will use them again.

Would only come out to do a bid on an extensive remodel for $150...I have contacted 10 other electricians and none are asking for money to make a bid... Bad business ethics!!!

They did a great job - very quick to respond and get out the same day. It was a minor issue but the tech they sent was thorough and while he was out looked over my panel. He also gave me a couple DIY tips to avoid issues in the future. Great service and very easy to work with. I will definitely use them for any job - large or small - in the future!

The electrician, Steve from DeKorte Electric, showed up on time. We called DeKorte because we thought that our smoke alarms were not working properly. Fortunately for us, Steve had many years of experience and was able to carefully and methodically analyze our system. As it turned out, we were mistaken in our analysis of the problem. When we first heard an an alarm go off 3 days earlier, we thought it was the carbon monoxide (CO) detector. At that time, we called our alarm company about it. Because nothing was showing on our alarm system keypad, the alarm company said that there was nothing wrong with the CO unit. Since the CO detector was located very close to one of our smoke detectors, and the alarm company gave us the all clear on the CO unit, we turned our attention to the smoke alarm. It was beeping loudly, 2 times every 6 minutes, all day and all night long. After going through the entire interconnected system of six smoke detectors on three different levels of our home, Steve figured out that in fact the problem was the CO unit and not the smoke detectors. DeKorte's service fee of $110 was worth every penny. The alarm company is sending its technician out tomorrow to resolve the problem with the malfunctioning CO unit. And the noisy unit is now in "hush" mode, so we will finally get some sleep. Thank you, Steve!

Clifton came by, reviewed the situation and advised me on what was practical versus what would be an expensive and major upgrade. This was important to me as I live on a limited retirement budget. In particular, we were looking for USB enabled outlets for the recreation room. Clifton checked them out but determined that installing them would require a significant upgrade to the wall and the wiring in the wall. We went with a simple replacement as we could always use plug in USB chargers. We were thinking of replacing the kitchen ceiling lights with LED tubes. Again Clifton suggested a less expensive overhaul. They work great now. The ceiling lamp for the study was missing a piece but Clifton was able to use a part he had and it is now installed and looks great as well as works great. Overall, we were very pleased to have a professional who was concerned about us and making sure that the work being done was what we needed at a very reasonable cost.

iSteve made the repair to the outside porch light. Apparently, the insulation on the light had been burned because of the high heat that the light bulbs had generated. In the past, the insulation had been repaired using electrical tape which might have caused a short. Steve was able to make the repairs to the light and did a great job. Thank you.

We used them twice last year and both were good experiences. The staff was prompt. The staff was very friendly.

I called first thing in the morning to make a non-emergency appointment to troubleshoot and repair an outage of my kitchen circuit. They had a technician available same day, and he showed up promptly as promised, within a few hours of my request. Steve D. quickly and located the problem in the attic, and fixed the problem in the junction box. Very professional. They do issue the permits, even for the small jobs. I would use them again in the future.

My son blew a fuse vacuuming and the whole front of the house went dark at 6:30pm the day before Christmas Eve last year and everyone was closed. I searched Angie's List for an after hours electrician and found DeKorte. I left a message and Ken called me back in less than 30 minutes. He was very kind about what turned out to be something I should have seen and missed it. He had me go down to the breaker box and REALLY look at all the fuses. Sure enough, one of them was not quite 100% flipped to the off position and I'd missed it in my panic over a dark house and the time of day and the looming holiday. Ken easily could have sent someone out and charged me an arm and a leg and I would have deserved it. But he didn't and for that I'll remember DeKorte when I do need an electrician....which is actually going to be pretty soon!

Ken arrived promptly and we immediately liked hiim! We showed him the new fan for the bathroom. He laid down tarps over the hallway rug and bathroom rug. Took out the old ceiling fan and installed the new one. Also capped off electrical wiring we no longer needed for heat lamp in the bathroom. He then cleaned all the debris and picked up the tarps. Fan is wonderful, and the bathroom was spotless!! That was the job we scheduled, but my husband asked him if he would replace our non functioning flood light outside. The east winds were whipping and it was cold out! Ken said let's do it! We have had three electricians work on that flood light to no avail. Ken got in the attic and got the wiring correct and installed new motion sensor flood light. Works great! We are exceedingly pleased with the knowledge, professionalism, and quality of work performed. It was such a cold and windy day, and Ken was in the attic or outside a good portion of the time. Appreciate his stamina and great attitude! Also appreciate how clean he left the areas he was working in!! We have found our electrician! Besides the quality of work, Ken was personable and genuine. We have other projects for him, and will be relying on him for those and any problems that may arise!!

Steven Davis did a wonderful job: he worked fast, cleaned up completely, and came in UNDER bid. We'd definitely ask DeKorte to bid on any future electrical projects at our house.

The service went fine. I did not have to pay additional fees for what I needed. One electrician came out and did a nice job. My wife primarily dealt with the technician and said he was up front and honest. I had no problem scheduling the deal.

Steve was the electrician that I worked with and he is wonderful. He really knows his stuff and is willing to go the extra mile. He uncovered some prior shoddy electrical work that was dangerous and explained the problem to me and the solution. Steve is the ultimate professional electrician and represents Dekorte Electric in the best of all possible ways.

Had appointment scheduled for today that they did not show up for. We just moved into a new house and needed several things taken care of. My husband had taken the day off work and had arranged for my mom to drive into ne Portland from Beaverton early to provide transportation for kids. They didnt call until they were 20 minutes late to say they weren't coming. Totally disappointed in their response to being unable to honor our appointment and their lack of understanding of all the unnecessary work on our end and how we could have avoided it with a simple, timely phone call. Could never recommend and will never call again. Will actively tell people not to use this company.
