We had a couple of problems in getting the right components here on time but the price and quality made tge wait worth it. Our general contractor was impressed by the value.
Description of Work: We worked with James Chang and his designer Barbara. The cabinets we put in are american cherry and they are excellent. The quality and construction for these stock cabinets are wonderful and can not be beaten for price. James did everything he said he would do and is a good person to deal with. I would recommend that the cabinets be purchased from JC and installed by a contractor.

We visited the JC Cabinets storefront. James was very helpful and the cabinet price was far below other estimates that we received. We chose the cherry "stock" cabinets that are on display at the store and James helped us design our kitchen so that we could utilize stock cabinet sizes, which saves a lot of money. James installed the cabinets himself due to a scheduling problem with their normal installer. He did a great job, on time and on budget The cabinets look beautiful in our new kitchen. We also bought our granite counter tops through JC Cabinets and are very happy with them too.

I found JC Kitchen Cabinets in Wilsonville because they seemed to offer well constructed cabinets at a reasonable price. The quality seemed excellent and Barbara there knew a lot about cabinets. She designed our kitchen and I would have to say did a wonderful job. My girlfriend was hesitant to meet with Barbara but was blown away by how detailed and efficient Barbara was. Again, her design has really worked out (although we had planned ahead with a lot of it already in mind.) In any event, I met with her twice, my girlfriend then met with her twice and suggested a few changes, and then we came by to place our order. Until that day the price was about $2,900. Then when I asked for the total bill after what seemed like a couple minor changes, she told me it was $4,000. I asked her why it had increased so much and she waved a hand and said "Changes." My girlfriend was going to ask for an itemized bill, but I decided not to bother, since we had already made up our mind, and handed over my credit card before she had a chance. We never got such a bill. After that the situation entered bizarro land! Barbara stopped responding to my phone calls or emails. The arrival date for the cabinents was postponed once or twice, to the point where I wondered if we would ever see them. Barbara kept hinting that we needed to use her installer for the cabinets. I kept responding with a request for an estimate, and she kept either ignoring that or saying her installer hadn't gotten back to her yet. I had a contractor I trusted and would have preferred to use him, but she kept saying that she had developed a shorthand with her installer that made it easy for them to work together. At one point she "accidentally" sent me an email (I have the same first name as her installer) praising him and how she's trying to talk us into using him. It was the oddest thing. Until I asked for a total bill, I had a great experience, I would have given the company an A. After that, it was filled with disrespect. I can't think of another way to describe it. In any event, she finally quoted a price that seemed okay, if the installer did a good job. I reminded her in my next email that I asked if the price included installing the appliances, and she never did respond. So we went with our contractor (Paul Buskovich). Barbara was frustrated by our decision and said she didn't want any hysterical calls from him demanding help. We were on our own if we ran into real trouble. Then the cabinets finally came! And many parts were missing! I think a delivery driver had to come by two or three more times to bring missing parts. And even then my girlfriend had to go to Wilsonville twice to pick up parts. Once she showed up and had to wait for Barbara to come to the office. And then Barbara realized she had forgotten to get the part from the warehouse, so she drove over and came back with it. She never once apologized for all of the problems or even seem to be aware of the awful service provided. Our contractor Paul said that a couple of the cabinents were headscratchers, but he did manage to assemble it all in a few days and as far as I can tell did a fine job. He mentioned a few times that he thought the cabinents were very good quality and that we got a good deal. And then it was time for the countertops to go in. Before Barbara started acting strange she quoted a price of $2300, then afterwards it was $2800. And that was to use a different color than we had settled on in the beginning. If we kept to our original color it was really $3300. What would you have done in that situation? We never took her seriously and went with Stone & Cabinet Outlet on Hayden Meadows. They did a fine job and were very inexpensive on top of it. In any event, that's what happened. I think the cabinets will last a long time. I would give them a B or an A for quality construction but everything else has to be an F super minus.
