A terrific good experience! First note that Al's Pump was recently taken over by D&A Pump and Supply, out of Beavercreek. The number I called transferred to a message service, and Jason called back within 15 min. They are in the process of changing the contact info, and he was pleasantly surprised to learn I'd found them through Angie's List. I promoted Angie's to him as a very valuable resource for his future customers, and here I am possibly the 1st to leave a excellent rating for D&A Pump and Supply. Jason was already scheduled for another job nearby us the next morning, and was it okay if he came over Saturday morning? We were delighted. He & Eric went straight to work, giving us a homeowner tutorial as they worked. They turned off the power at circuit breaker - turned on faucets to drain the tank - then tested the air pressure of inside. Our tank is the bladder type & here is an online explanation: A bladder pressure tank contains pressurized air and water separated by a flexible membrane (bladder). These tanks are typically precharged with air at the factory. As water pressure changes, the volume of air in a bladder tank contracts and expands. Periodically, the amount of air in the tank should be measured and the tank recharged if the air is too low. Eric explained it's important to be aware of the tank as it functions. If you hear the sound of the pump coming on each time you flush a toilet or use a faucet, it could be "rapid cycling" due to improper pressurization. The long term effect is wear & tear on the internal membrane, which can break & ruin the tank - requiring replacement. Worse still - the rapid cycling can damage your Well Pump - which is even more costly to repair. This is why an annual maintenance is important to preserve your Pressure Tank in good condition. Our tank air was about 8lbs psi too low, so they used a compressed air tank to recharge it. Showed us how to make an adjustment near the guage. Filled the tank with water again & checked other system parts before completing their work just under an hour. Very efficient. Overall the basic maintenance of checking air pressure is simple enough for a homeowner to do & a small air compressor tank is easily obtained at a hardware store (you can always use it to fill car & bicycle tires). Having observed the process, I MIGHT be inclined to try this job myself. However, there ARE these other important components to a well & pressure tank system, so at minimum I would ask this company to examine our systems function every other year. Jason & Eric couldn't have been NICER. Very mellow and pleasant gentlemen. They were able to schedule the job promptly. They were very patient with our curious homeowner questions. The fee was quite fair (compared to another co I learned charges $250 for the same basic maintenance - which is just not reasonable). We would be delighted to ask Jason & Eric back for any future work we may need on our Well & Pressure Tank system.

There's not much more to tell. I know when I have hired a professional and Dean Weigel is just that. I would recommend him for hire on your well and pump to anyone.
Description of Work: I am adding a service technician who has worked for me several times before. I was looking for the well drillers we employed in 1966, and found this man, Dean Weigel, who runs Al's Pump. He found a solution to a problem I had with my original submersible pump, and then installed a new pump for me, in 1997. Since then, he has maintained the pressure tank for the well, returning when necessary at my request. He was here on 2/14/2012 and serviced the pressure tank, then took a water sample that I requested. He will have that data sent to me.
