They are great, we used them now for the last four years, we love them. If you tell them your kind of not real happy about some action or whatever they'll tell you what you can do to improve your system but not be pushy and I like that they'll just inform you but not try and push anything on you. I would definitely recommend them.

I've called 72 Degrees over 10 times now in the past 24 hours, (503-655-0556), and not one single time has anyone answered the phone. It just rings and rings and rings - not even an answering machine! This level of service is so poor that I can't believe they even have any customers. Pathetic!!!

One of our central AC units was short cycling. Plus it was during this recent heat wave and no one could get out to our place for almost 2 weeks. 72 Degrees could get out in 3 days and the even called two days before saying there was a cancellation and they could come a day early. Great news! Michael, the tech, even called the day of the appt saying his prior job completed early and he could be to our place 45 minutes early. Even better news! He quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad capacitor and quickly replaced it and we had cool air upstairs once again. He informed me that the compressors was starting to show signs of failure in the future. I had done some research on replacement units so I asked his opinion and they lined up with my research almost spot on. He even gave me a total job estimate on a great replacement unit that seemed very fair to me. I know I'll definitely call 72 Degrees when the time comes for a new unit. Highly recommend 72 Degrees.

72 Degrees were great! They showed up on time, the quality of work was perfect. The field tech that came out to do the work (there was 2) were very professional. My old air conditioner and furnace were about 20 years old when they finally failed, but my first NW Natural bill was about $40 less than the previous month. I highly recommend 72 Degrees.

I highly recommend this company. They had previously installed a new high efficiency furnace about 3 years ago. Then and now, the attention to detail and professionalism of the technicians and staff were outstanding. I appreciated the time spent discussing the placement of the unit in my townhouse which presented challenges. The team arrived on time and worked carefully in my garage and patio area to install the equipment. The AC unit needed to be carried around and through a neighbors adjoining yard and this was done with care taken to not damage my neighbor's newly refinished deck. My flooring, and stairs were protected with both heavy paper and tarps. I have photos, but do not see a place to upload them on this review site???

Called 72 Degrees for an estimate and they responded quickly. They were the only contractor to give me pricing on the spot. I called them to set up the install and they were able to get to me within a couple of days. They showed up on time and made sure all areas were protected from any dirt or debris. They are amazing in how quickly and effiecent they worked. The system I had was 35 years old and the new system is great.. They were by far the most professional and responsive contractor I have worked with on any project. I would use them again

After interviewing 6 contractors for a new system I was quite discouraged. 72 degrees changed my perspective of the furnace and air conditioning companies. They are very professional. It is obvious that the customer is first. I am impressed with every detail of the service we received. Steve Green knows how to run a business. The company is how all companies should be run.

PERFECT!!!! This 1st time customer is now a fan of 72 Degrees. I sent an appointment request through A.L. and received an email response the following morning. Erin (sp?) called later in the morning to followup with setting an appointment. She asked about the problem and said she could get a tech out later in the day. When I pressed about the technical nature of the problem (components run OK...they just dont stop unless I hit the breaker) and the fact that we have two programmable thermostats, a Honewell multi-zone controller and an exterior evap pump, Erin said if we can wait a few days the technician most experienced with complex controls would be the best person. We did and she was right on. Robert (tech) showed up a few minutes early, booties in hand, and began testing components. It was not an easy find but he isolated a short in the wiring between one of the thermosats and the furnace. And that wiring runs through an inaccessible sealed airspace behind a bathroom and below a staircase. Robert walked me through the system components, the short, and shared multiple well explaned solutions from which we could choose. We elected to bypass the wiring route and replace the hard wired thermostat (attached to the short) a wireless programmable thermostat. At completion of work, Robert asked my me and my wife for a few minutes to take us through the programming. I am not easy to impress but impressed I am. Service on time, as promised, detailed, clean and assigning a tech with skills and experience appropriate to the issue. BTW: I think I answered the cost question on the AL survey with N/A. Here is why. When others couldn't make my system run as designed, a very expensive system had a value of zero because it did not perform as designed. For about $480, Robert spent most of an afternoon seeing to it that problems were identified and corrected. The successful result was worth much more.
Description of Work: Successful technical troubleshooting of our multi zone, dual thermosat, heating and A/C system . Our system was installed about 10 months ago by a HVAC guy (not 72 D) recommended by our remodeler. Post installation, the A/C failed to shut off when the home cooled to the set point on the thermostat and a second problem was when we selecited "circulation fan" (no heat or cool demand) the A/C heat pump ran non stop. The installing company was unable to fix it when they came back 1 month after installation and they missed follow-up appointments and failed to return multiple phone calls.

They were supposed to clean and inspect my furnace. A few minutes into the process, I was shown a photo of the inside of a heat exchanger showing a large crack across one tube. They then tried to sell me a new furnace and, when I declined, left without additional work (cleaning). I got a second opinion from Able Heating. They found that there were no cracks at all in the heat exchanger and also informed me that my brand, model and age of furnace had a warranty in place from the manufacturer on the heat exchanger if it had actually been cracked. I ended up purchasing a 97.5% new furnace from Able, installed for a price thousands of dollars cheaper than the 72 Degree Heating offer. Although my old furnace worked OK and did not have a cracked heat exchanger, I decided that I wanted more efficiency and quieter operation and took advantage of some tax credits available at the time. As far as 72 Degree Heating, I feel that I got off cheap, only being ripped off $79 instead of thousands more.

Thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback, even if it is was from 3 years ago. Every technician that we employ who performs cleanings and safety checks on furnaces are factory trained and certified by a third party. Each one understands the importance of doing a thorough safety check and inspection on furnaces, because of the safety of homeowners are involved. If one of my technicians said there was a crack, then there was a crack. Most other technicians do not use infrared technology during their routine maintenance, but it is the best way to check. You are not the first one to get a second opinion on our diagnostics of a cracked heat exchanger. But in each case, we came back at the same time as another company and showed them where it was. Not once were we lying. We are so confident in our diagnostics, we tell homeowners that if there is not a crack, then I will install a brand new furnace for free. All they have to do is call us at the time and have us meet whatever HVAC company that they choose there. A homeowner never likes to hear that their furnace is condemned, but if it is cracked, then your two options are replace your heat exchanger or replace your furnace. Both options were noted on your paperwork that we left. While the message is not what you wanted to hear, do not condemn the messenger. It was for your own safety. We are happy to hear that you have a new furnace.

This review is the culmination of two different services. The first time I used 72 Degrees for my rental condo to troubleshoot and repair a furnace issue. They completed this repair fine and replaced a furnace fan which had gone out. We then wanted the furnace at our primary residence inspected and tuned up, so I called 72 Degrees again because I was satisfied with their first job. The technician showed up to begin the service and got his camera probe out and started checking the inside of the furnace around the heat exchanger. He called me down to show me some lines on the heat exchanger and he classified these as probable cracks. Our furnace is six years old. At that point he said his inspection was done and he needed to and quot;red tagand quot; the furnace because it was not safe. I then asked about repair options. He said we could replace the heat exchanger, but that would be quite a bit of labor even if it was under warranty and we would be better off going with a replacement furnace. He could not quote the replacement work so I needed to schedule another person to come out. The other technician/sales person came out and provided quotes for replacing the furnace ranging between $3000 and $5000, and no quotes for repairing our existing furnace. I called another company to come out to get another opinion and estimate. The technician came out and took a look at the furnace. He did not have a camera probe but took a look at how the burners were operating and said there may be an issue with one of the heat exchanger cores. He asked about our furnace and if it still had some warranty left for the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger was still covered under warranty and they estimated around $1100 to repair our current 6 year old furnace. The technician ordered the replacement parts, fixed our furnace, finding no cracks, just one mis-shapen heat exchanger core and charged us $1200. A little extra due to replacing the worn ignitor. So, we repaired our current 6 year old furnace for $1200 which 72 Degrees had said wouldn't be a cost effective option and should be replaced with a new furnace for $3000-$5000.
Description of Work: They provided one repair and one service.

I scheduled the furnace tune-up - I used a (sorry - either groupon or living social - don't remember) coupon that I had purchased. I figure I'm doing my homeowner diligent best by getting it tuned up but no - the guy snakes down his nifty little camera and shows me a crack in the heat exchanger of the gas furnace. Drats! It wasn't that old of a furnace! He tells me that the cost of repair won't be worth it and I need a new furnace. He closed everything up and offered to have the sales people come out and see what sort of deal they could do for me. Then he and quot;red tagsand quot; the furnace and shuts it off(something I think only the utility company is supposed to do but this guy had a pile of the tags in his work box). He does not have a CO monitor to test the air to see if I am at risk, it's December and he just turns off the furnace. I get a CO monitor and turn the furnace back on. No CO. The sales guy comes out the next day and doesn't appear to hear me when I tell him that I'm not looking for fancy or new or high-tech. He's sure I want a new digital thermostat and really high-efficiency furnace. He offers financing for these things I don't want. I look elsewhere. So I guess they more or less did what I paid for.....well - no I didn't get it tuned up but I got the crack diagnosed. And the camera did seem like a handy tool that others didn't have. But.....but... they took the opportunity to pitch me $1000 more furnace than I told them I needed and it turns out that the heat exchanger was under warranty - something another furnace company looked up for me. They were nice enough to send me a CD of the crack.

Thank you for your feedback. While we do not like to red tag (shut down) your furnace, it was your only option based on the fact that our professional technicians found a crack in the heat exchanger. According to the American Gas Association, which is the National Authority on safety of gas appliances, it does not have to be leaking CO in order to red tag your furnace. If any professional tech saw what the recording showed, they would have to do the same in order for you to be safe. That is one of our main concerns when we do a tune-up of your furnace. The first thing we check is the safety of your equipment. And for $60, that was a good investment on your part. You had a high efficient furnace already, so our technician offered three options that were available to your, ranging from good, better, and best. And with those three options, there were no pricing written down for a new thermostat. We might not be the cheapest company out there, but we are ok with that. Your furnaces heat exchanger failed prematurely, and it is because it was a cheap furnace with a bad design for a heat exchanger. So we believe that you get what you pay for. Thanks again for trying our company, and we are glad you are now safe in your home with whatever option you chose for a new furnace/new heat exchanger.

Our A/C decided to quit in early July. Thankfully, the summer heat subsided, but we were scrambling to get someone in to fix the unit before the temps returned to the upper 80s / low 90s. 72 Degrees weren't able to come out on the 3rd, but did a great job communicating with me during the day. Instead of waiting until after the holiday, their technician came out the morning of the 4th. Within 45 minutes, the entire unit was up and running again.

Steven and Michael are wonderful and very competent. They did everything we had discussed, and the results are much better than what we hoped for. Steven and his team impressed me with their integrity and dedication. Great individuals, the kind of contractors we are looking for when we need help with a home improvement project. This job could not have gone any better. We strongly recommend Steven and his team!!! P.S. They even drank the strong coffee we made. :))
Description of Work: Steven gave us excellent advice, and his proposal was very competitive. Then they replaced an old single-stage gas furnace with a new high-efficiency multi-stage Lennox gas furnace. They performed several improvements to the ducting that increased the level of comfort in this home by 200%. They did this in the most respectful, efficient, and cleanest way possible.
