When I saw this I let the subcontractor know this was a very poor job and he would need to fix it. He yelled at me and said this was what in the contract. They ended up stealing a few small items. I paid in full because of a threat to put a lien on my property if I didn't. When Lane and Lindsay came to see this mess they apologized and said they would fix it. They also promised to pay me back a few hundred for the broken cabinets. They didn't. I filed a complaint with the CCB, they investigated and said the work was so bad that I should not allow these people back onto my property. It has taken me a year to get reimbursement from CCB and the bonding company. The reimbursement is for 13600 which is more than I initially paid due to how much extra work will need to be done to fix what they did and start all over. I have additionally lost a years worth of rent. This has been a landlord's nightmare.
Description of Work: They hired a subcontractor who then hired an electrician and a plumber. We contracted that a wall in my kitchen be taken down and the closet in another room to be altered to accomodate a stacked washer and dryer. My cabinets in the kitchen were less than a year old so I wanted to reuse them, they suggested they could sell me the leftover cabinets from their previous job, I said "no". They had wired in a 110 volt outlet when the washer/dryer required a 240 volt. They rebuilt the closet to a smaller size that would not even accomodate the stacked washer dryer. The closet was supposed to be flush to the floor, to allow for easier removal and maintenace but it was built four inches above the ground. The plumbing work was left outside of the wall and they left a HUGE gaping hole in the wall that was partially covered by my cabinets. The cut huge holes into the backs of all my lower cabinets to accomodate the inappropriate plumbing. The door to the closet was super crooked. They didn't fur out the wal that was clearly written in the contract. There were a lot more mistakes, I'm just highlighting the major and obvious ones.

Contractor failed to do final walk-through, and demanded payment even though work was clearly far from finished, based on detailed fixed-price contract in place. Most of the areas to be painted were merely primed. Trim that was painted (vs. primed) was painted with flat instead of contracted satin paint. Hallway and one door were simply not painted at all. The other door was painted with the wrong color. Nothing was caulked at all. Homeowner's tools and home theater components went missing. We purchased all the materials directly for the contractor, and he failed to leave any paint or materials on site (ever done a project that didn't even have one partial can of one of the 4 paint colors left at all?). Drywall finishing was ridiculously sloppy. Workers failed to put down paper to protect the floor, and left it covered with paint and ground-in drywall mud. Contractor brought in surly, anonymous workers who refused to introduce themselves and made a mess of our house. Nothing was vacuumed, and the driveway was left full of a massive stack of garbage and debris. Attempted several times to resolve issues amicably with the contractor, but he will not return calls or emails.
Description of Work: Framing soffits around basement ductwork, drywalling part of basement, hanging 2 new doors, priming and painting basement, hallway, bathroom, doors and trim.
