James was given the job after researching many painters on the phone and in person. He had painted the interior of our house a couple of years earlier and done a fine job, but he wouldn't take on a house with lead-paint issues, so we ended up talking with many other painting companies, during which time I reserved the actual new painting part for him, based on his careful and reasonably priced work on the interior. The exterior, however, was a far more demanding job, both in terms of labor and complexity, given that there were four colors involved. James and his long-time assistant did a swift and superb job, always keeping client satisfaction uppermost with great attention to detail. The price was lifted from the estimate for various reasons and was still such a bargain for the quality of the work that we chose to pay more than one-sixth extra beyond the invoice, and we knew we still could have ended up paying a lot more to others for work that good.
