Very responsive and timely for appointment and got to work immediately. Asked appropriate questions but worked independently. Had a helper who was also efficient. There were 2 small projects that were not completed as I had intended - partly I was not specific enough and partly there was a mistake. However, he fixed it in a timely manner with an apology for the error. I was very happy with the work The cost was higher than I expected, but I have never before used such a service and had no idea really what to expect. Plus, the projects were literally "all over the map" and required securing some parts. I would definietly use this servie again.
Description of Work: Mulitple different things on a list from replacing a folding door part and handle on outside windopw, to repairing carpet, handging blinds, attaching baseboards and making new baseboards. Hung towel racxks, replaced outlets, etc - a long list of small but all things that needed to be fixed.

I rencely hired Raoul and his team to fix a door that was damaged during a burglary and they did a great job, so when I found some siding and window trim that was also damaged during the burglary, I asked him to come back again. Gus did the work and I felt the job was done well and it was done quickly. I wouldn't hesitate to ask them to help me again on future projects.
Description of Work: Replaced damanaged siding and fixed window trim.

He was very professional from the first email and call to the end with the final inspection. When he discovered a couple of items (one which we had known about but forgot to request him to do) he called, asked if we wanted him to do the work and gave us additional price. He was very good about looking at the list we had sent him and doing what was on the list. He also did it in a timely matter and worked with us going on vacation.
Description of Work: You did several items of fixing on the outside of our rental home and after repairs, he painted the entire house. There were facades that had dry rotted or were missing, also a sun porch that needed reroofing and some repair, a small portion of the siding was also dry rotted, which he discovered and than he called so we had him replace.

Overall the work was efficient and the person who came to help me out was professional and very nice and polite. I did not ever meet the person I talked to on the phone but the conversations on the phone were sufficient to get the job done. This was a small job and fairly last minute and the person I spoke with on the phone was able to fit me in on short notice so I am grateful that he was able to send someone to help! The only minor problem was that the worker ended up being an hour and a half later than was estimated but that is very minor considering this was a last minute project. The only other issue is that I had 2-3 more items that I had on my list of things-to-do that were not items that needed to be done right away and the worker told me that the owner would call me back to schedule those projects and I never got a call back from him. I will follow up later since these projects also need to get done (attic window repair and fence repair). I am sure this was an oversight. Overall happy with the service!
Description of Work: Break down many, many boxes and help clear off trash from porch, change 2 lightbulbs, assist with light assembly of items. Approximately 2 hours work.

I'm very happy with their repair. They replaced only what needed to be replaced and did a great job returning the door to its pre break-in condition. I suspect I'll be hiring them again for other projects that I don't have the time or expertise to do.

We were glad we could help with this project. In this case we did what needed to be done (replace one side of the door frame rather than patching like the previous customer that reported below) and all turned out solid and well. It's a pleasure to have worked with a couple that was reasonable enough to allow us to restore the door to a pre-break in condition. We look forward to working with them again!

The company basically did the work, but lacked the professionalism and skill we'd thought to benefit from based on other Angie's List reviews. They charge by the hour; the job took twice as long as estimated, which reflects poorly on their estimation skills. They lacked the experience and industry knowledge to match our moulding correctly and persuaded us to use moulding that did not match existing. We agreed, so it's partially our fault, but the issue would never have arisen with a more highly qualified vendor. The worker assigned to the job did zero cleanup, leaving cardboard, old moulding, etc. strewn in the living room, outside next to the front door and in the backyard. To be fair, after we notifed the owner of these issues, he offered to come out and clean up; he also knocked an hour's worth of labor charge off the bill. Both are to his credit. In conclusion, if you need simple tasks performed, these guys are probably fine. On the other hand, if you need work done that requires carpentry or other construction skills, my wife and I suggest you check elsewhere.
Description of Work: We hired Wonderman Handyman to repair the doorframes and moulding on 3 doors, plus replace one of the doors that had been damaged.

We apologized to our customer for some items that where left (door frame box corners and some plastic) in the empty living room. We've also addressed this with our technician since we do not take lack of cleanup lightly. He did vacuum, and store the demo material in one location but this customer was obviously upset about being charged a bit more than expected. We did however explain that the two entry doors needed new frames since both had been broken into. However, being that they just wanted to touchup the damaged frames (which does not provide for a secure door) it took multiple layers of puddy and drying to sand and make the finish product look seamless. This custeromer was obvisously on an extremely LOW budget and just wanted to make things look better which should have been a red flag for us since we typically refuse to do "patch" work and prefer to do things the right way (in this case replacing the split frames). We did offer to go back and pickup the plastic and small piece of cardboard and even discounted an hour of labor but apparently it did not satiate this persons expectations. Note: he did not mention anything about the professional quality of the actual work that we performed because there was nothing negative to say. Hopefully this tells a balanced story of what type of service we provided (not a C quality).

As you you can see from above, this was a job that exceeded expectations on all counts.
Description of Work: We had had the water pipes in our house replaced as well as the electrical and were left with holes in the drywall/sheetrock in every room in the house. Wonderman did a phenomenal job in replacing sheetrock, patching and matching the prior spackle pattern in both the walls and the ceiling. In addition, when I realized that the wallpaper which was from the 1960s needed to be removed on all the walls in two of the bathrooms, they were very accommodating and did a beautiful job in both cases. They put all the bathroom hardware back; and cleaned up and made every attempt to not have the plaster dust everywhere. For a very stressful experience, I was amazed at how well it went.

My experience was excellent. The work he did was great. He was really particular about it. He was very professional and very easy to talk to. He was always prompt and courteous. I was in the hospital between the time he started and finished the project. He was very patient with me through that. I thought his prices were reasonable.
Description of Work: He remodeled my bathroom. I had a popcorn ceiling; he took that out and put on an orange texture instead. He also replaced the light fixtures. He then painted the bathroom and caulked. He put in new faucets in both my shower and sink. He also put in a new ceiling vent.

Due to the fact that neither my husband nor I are "handy", a varied list of maintenance needs had arisen over time. Raoul and his helper fixed everything to our satisfaction. Their communication was excellent as some parts needed to be located and Raoul kept me informed regarding the progress finding an unusual/old part. He was always on time. Workmanship was excellent. Raoul found a unconnected gas exhaust tube in a crawl space and alerted us to potential serious problems. When asked, he gave a recommendation for a plumbing consultant. We were very pleased and I would note that we will certainly call him again whenever the need arises.
Description of Work: The first time we used Wonderman was in connection with an Angie's List special. We had a list of "to do's" some of which included installing a new instant hot water faucet at the kitchen sink, checking on an intermittent under sink leak, sanding stained butcher block countertops, ordering & installing a hand held tub/shower sprayer, checking non-functioning doorbell, new electrical outlets, etc.

They did a great job, the brocading is excellent, matches beautifully with the rest of the kitchen ceiling. Rauol gave me some good advice and options on the job being done. He and Gus were great guys. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I think the price was very fair for the amount of times they had to come back (waiting for it to dry). They also figured out the mystery of a water spot on my ceiling initially and fixed my pipe to the stove gratis with a special tape that would keep the stove pipe from leaking. (Guys, aren't you impressed with my knowledgeable terminology :)
Description of Work: I had in my kitchen some ugly paneling. Rauol and Gus, his assistant pulled it down along with the canned lighting, put in framing at a lower level, sheet rocked, taped and mudded. Then the came back to paint and brocade. They also took down in another corner of the kitchen from the ceiling a stove pipe that was sitting there without a stove and a cable attachment that had poking out on the wall whch they fixed so no one could tell it was there.

They got to work right away and figured out the problem quite quickly. Both men were very nice and courteous. They were within their rough financial estimate and finished the job on time. They took off some roof shingles and put some flashing on the roof to re-direct water that was seeping through a hole and down into the wall. They replaced a piece of wood that had rotted and patched up the dry wall. They replaced roof shingles. I also had Raoul fix some drywall in my office that had been damaged during the course of lighting installation.
Description of Work: Raoul and his assistant Guss came on time. I had them come out twice. Once to diagnose and fix a leak that was coming through the dry wall in the garage, and the second time to texture the drywall they had repaired.

Over all I felt the work was good. Did what I needed to have done. The one thing I would have him reconsider would be to not speak in spanish to his workers in my presents. Raoul did say his conversation with the help had nothing to do with me. However, in my house, working for me when I'm paying for it, I have the right to understand all that's being said. And since I don't speak spanish, I felt it was not appropriate.
Description of Work: Had Raoul install a porch light and kitchen light. He and his helper removed the old structure, and installed the new fixtures and made sure they worked. He expressed concern regarding possible wiring issues in the kitchen because of a blackened area around the old fixture and suggested I have an electrician evaulate. The electrician found no electrical issues except a loose connection to the new fixture which likely caused a bulb burn out in 1 day.

We appreciate the opportunity to have served you! They answered the phone without identifying themselves or the company. I called and immediately identified myself as a potential customer who had found them on Angie's List. I asked to schedule an estimate and inquired if they offer an hourly rate or just base their estimate by the job. The man on the phone was very hesitant to give any answers and rude in response. I told him that I didn't appreciate his tone. I understand that they may have assumed I'm a cheap because I inquired as to whether they offer an hourly rate. I'm assuming he had decided right then that I was a waste of time and already written me off. He told me maybe I should call someone else. I responded that I wanted him to know that I found his company responses to his reviews online to be smarmy and unprofessional and that I was bringing it to his attention in case he wasn't the aware of the responses and how they reflected on his company. I know that sometimes the owner of the company is not directly involved in the administrative responsibilities and sometimes these things slip through unnoticed. He had no interest in hearing anything i had to say. He did NOT ask for any details about the job. He yelled over me without listening to a word I said, used obscenities and hung up on me without answering any of my questions or listening to my honest opinion as a potential new customer. I am absolutely appalled at the way this situation was handled and truly wonder how people like this stay in business. When a customer calls you, you need to listen to what they say. You do not talk over them. It is your job as customer service to shut your mouth and hear what they say, THEN respond accordingly. You don't call them a b!%$# and hang up on them.

This company is comprised of courteous professionals that care about our customers and the many other reports on this website and others will reflect. We treat our customers and their respective properties with respect and dignity and they in return treat us the same. Unfortunately, this individual called in attack mode and when I tried to help her she was relentlessly rude and discourteous. Without getting into to much detail she asked (with an aggressive tone) how we charge...by the hour or the job. I politely answered that it depended on the project so I asked for more details on what services she was inquiring about so I could determine if this would be classified as an hourly or bid job. She did not answer but rather went off on a negative string of comments speaking over me (not the other way around as she commented above) saying we had already started on the wrong foot when all I did was ask what type of services she was interested in. She did not answer and kept on with a negative spirit and tone so I suggested she was free to call another company if that was her impression. As a company we strive to search not only for a quick project to fill our schedule but to establish long term relationships with our clients. When we rarely encounter negative personalities we choose to refuse service because experience has taught us that relationships must reciprocate respect and appreciation from both sides. When a company does everything it can to satisfy an insatiable personality that always finds the "glass half empty" the company is the one that ends up suffering not the customer. In this specific situation we did not hesitate in recognizing that this relationship was not a prudent one to pursue so I suggested that she was free to look for another company.

I consider Wonderman as a partner in my small rental business. I called him to fix or replace a garbage disposal that was also backing up the pipes when the dishwasher ran. He always takes it out of my hands and schedules appts with my tenants to do the repairs - I really appreciate that. He communicated the results back to me via email - very helpful when dealing with a rental unit you don?t live in. I want to keep up with the nature of how things run, both past and present. He described the old cheap disposal and the new better disposal that he installed. Plus I felt very relieved that time was taken to check out the drainage pipes (which were fine). This is the kind of stuff I want from my handyman services. Also, my tenants from both units have always been very happy with his work.

I would ask for a time and dollar estimate to begin with. The garbage disposal hook-up was different for the newer model; same for the Inst-Hot. I wish the handyman had told me about this earlier. Only after I asked about 2+ hours in to the job, did he tell me that when I asked how it was going. It could be that the extra time was unavoidable - I guess so.
Description of Work: I bought a 2-hour $94.00 coupon from Angie's List and spent $320.26 in addition. The handyman arrived on time and did a nice job. I expected the time spent (6 hours) to be 1-2 hours less. I went to Home Depot twice to get needed parts. He went to Home Depot once late in the day. Replacing a garbage disposal and Insta-Hot took almost 3 hours. The first two invoices I received were $100 too high. They explained their odd-ball accounting method. I explained my direct method to $314.26 (should have been $320.26). They charged for any parts they supplied, about $5. I do not have a good feeling about them, despite the work being done was great. I will use another company in the future. I have copies of the two invoices I mentioned.

We apologize for any misunderstandings on this transaction. We always bill accurately and in this case we provided discount upon discount and this customer kept arguing the mathematics trying to discount additional fee's. The invoicing we used is the same style of invoicing we have used for all our coupon customers and not one has complained nor have they been confused of the straight forward, line by line itemization of the invoice. With all politeness and courtesy we tried to explain the obvious breakdown of the invoice to no avail (we also have all email communication and invoices which are available upon request). We explicitly explained to her when the appointment was made that all parts needed to be there otherwise we would need to make a trip to the hardware store to pickup what we needed. She agreed. While she ran to Home Depot, our technician continued to work on other tasks so no time was lost. She could have (as any of our customers) set her limit based on hours rather than tasks and we would have happily concluded the work day at her request. In addition, we charge by the hour not by how long a customer thinks it will take to get the job done. Her claims of it taking 3 hours to replace the garbage disposal and inst-hot are not only inaccurate but are unfair at best. It's also confusing how someone can receive so many discounts (totaling more than an hours worth of labor) and still complain about $6 that she claims we are over charging her. Here is the basic breakdown so you can judge for yourself if our math is off: $94 (for the first two hours ) $300 (for the four hours after the initial two) $16.27 for material expenses $3.99 for supplied expenses -------------------------- $414.26 sub total -$94 previously paid -------------------------- $320.26 total due We are unclear on how she came up with $314.26. Please contact us if our math is off. Below is a list of the work that was done which does not include the time it took to prepare the work areas: 1. Replaced garbage disposal, 2. Replaced Instant hot water, 3. Replaced both two heads, 4. Removed old caulk and caulked bathtub, 5. Painted ceiling in master bath and closet, 6. Re-installed lights and cover in master closet, 7. Put in screens in upstairs windows, 8. Installed display case on wall, 9. Moved dryer and fixed dryer vent, 10. Replaced lights in garage. 11. Went to hardware store to buy plumbing supplies. 12. Cleaned all work areas Again, we apologize for any misunderstandings but fail to see where our company failed to provide anything less than accurate billing and superior service.

This Member is such a wonderful senior citizen! It's so pleasant to have customers like her. She was flexible and even baked us some delicious cookies which made it all even better! She had a washer water line tear that made a mess in the garage and adjacent restroom. We came in to do the replacement of all damaged materials (insulation, water heater, drywall, flooring etc.). For most part, I?m very happy with the work they performed. They called a few times to schedule someone to come out, but it didn?t match our availability. On the third try, we where able to finally meet them. The Install went quick and painless. The finished window install looks great. They where unable to replace the top piece of trim due to the new windows fit but the rest of the install looks great. We plan on redoing all the trim anyhow. With a nice new window in the kitchen, we now need to update the rest to make it match. One little gripe, They did leave a bit of a mess on the deck and a lot of dust on the countertop where they had to cut material to get the window to fit. They also left the old window laying on the lawn. But I?m actually Ok with that. I asked them to install a window, not clean my house. And when you have major work like that done, your going to have some debris. It?s just the nature of the beast.
Description of Work: Remove original 1970 aluminum window from our kitchen. Replace with a new vinyl window that we had purchased.

The window came out great! Although we had do make some adjustments to the window framing to allow for the improper sized window. The trim on the left and top sides no longer fit because a difference in dimensions which we mentioned we could purchase for them but the customer indicated she would have her husband take care of it as the are square cuts as opposed to mitered cuts. As far as the old broken window, there was no other place to put it without it being a major hazard. We charge extra for disposal and did mention where we would leave the window. Usually at this point the customer has the option of paying an additional fee for disposal but she preferred to take care of the disposal. As far as the price goes, it was a cheap as it gets when you have two technicians making adjustments to the framing to allow for a new window installation. In all we had to remove the trim, a storm window, broken interior window, remove the interior casing, cut the siding to allow for the new window flange, cut a portion of the drywall, install the window, install two parts of four on the exterior trim, cut and install the interior casing to fit the new dimensions. All this in addition to moving many items away from the window on the deck. All in all, the project had a happy ending!

Raoul and his crew showed up when they said they would. The first day they washed, scraped and primed and the second day they applied the white paint. The work was well done and they cleaned up very well. I am well satisfied with the quality of the work. I have used Wonderman Handeyman before and will use their services again.
Description of Work: Cleaned and painted the white trim on the lower level of the front of my house, including the front entry and door.

A leaky skylight had damaged the ceiling in a small bathroom that we were hoping to fix up a bit. Raoul and his crew did this, adapting to various details that came up, communicating with me the whole time about the job, and advising on related tasks as well. This experience went so well that I decided to hire him to install tile in the bath surround, and his tile guy did a great job with that. It took a little longer than estimated, primarily due to my last minute decision to include a built-in shelf. The end result is beautiful. We are pleased with the work done, the attention to detail, and the friendly demeanor of all the guys. Excellent!
Description of Work: Demo and replace water-damaged ceiling drywall, retextured 2 bathrooms, installed travertine tile in bathroom.

We really enjoy the pleasant personalities we encountered with the family. They were flexible and attentive to our schedule and availability. They worked with us in gathering material needed for the misc projects at hand. We hope to work with them again soon.

It went great. I especially like Raoul's attention to detail and craftsmanship, and willingness to take direction even when he disagreed with me. Usually, though, I took his professional advice, and I'm glad I did. The price was reasonable and the quality is excellent. I'll certainly use him again. Job Well Done.
Description of Work: Raoul and Gustavo, aided at times by others, performed a host of services. Chief among them was a total bathroom remodel, including tear-down and removal of flooring dry rot, then rebuilding, from the layers of sub-flooring, waterproofing, plumbing etc. all the way to the finished product. Also other, smaller projects inc. re-doing front door, patching a section of ceiling, installing ceramic tile at the base of stairs, hanging light fixtures & blinds, building a laundry chute and replacing a basement ceiling.

Raoul did not come out to see the room to give us a quote. That should have been a warning sign to look for someone else. He quoted ( $300 + $20 to 40 for materials) us via email and the final work came in at a much high higher price than expected for the small room. Upon airing our concerns Raoul was not will to negotiate at all - in fact he added cost to our invoice say he left some fees out! He then said he could give us the 10% Angie's list discount which we should have received anyways from the beginning. All in all we were disappointed, he was not punctual and had bad communication skills which he often blamed on his iPad. The only thing that showed up punctually was our invoice.

The following information explains the truth of what happened so you can be the judge of whether our company merits this low grade. This person asked for an estimate over the phone and so we provided a ball park figure of $350 based on her description of the work entailed. Upon arrival, she added another section of the house that she wanted serviced as well, placing masking material to protect her already textured walls (which I mentioned was unnecessary since orange peel texture is the same type of texture that was going on the ceiling, her walls are white, and she would need to paint the ceiling she could touchup the walls that would be affected by overspray). She also failed to mention the need to remove two light fixtures, a vent grill, and disposal of waste materials (apx. 60 lbs of texture). She questioned our ethics accusing us of ripping her off for not sticking to our estimate and questioning the hours we spent on the project when she was only there to sign the contract and then disappeared. We did not even see her on the final date of service so who knows how she came to the conclusion that we did not work the few hours we billed her for. I explained to her that if she was so concerned about an exact time limit she could have sat in and stopped us at her expected time of completion or mentioned the hour limit she was willing to pay at the contract signing and we would have stopped when we reached that time limit even if it meant not completing the work. I also explained that an estimate is not written in stone. This goes back to grade school when you estimate the amount of marbles in a jar. You don't know exactly how many marbles are in the jar until you count them! We charged her by the hour and we had her read and sign a contract with a special section of disclosures that informed her of the hourly rate that was being charged. She THOROUGHLY read these disclosures before providing her INITIALS. She then read the rest of the contract and provided her signature on the last page of the contract. We do this to avoid false expectations, misunderstandings, and false accusations. Unfortunately, all these efforts were pointless with her. In fact, I OUTLINED the hourly rate (in addition to saying the hourly rate verbally over the phone and in person) and deposit amount required. After she through a fit in an email about me not mentioning a difference in the estimate and final invoice fee (which by the way a difference of about. an one hour), I calmly illustrated that if someone goes in for a haircut and later decides to get their hair dyed, common knowledge is that the person is NOT just going to pay for the haircut but for the hair dying as well. In addressing false accusations of lack of punctuality, we adjusted our schedule to return the following business day because she had made an appointment with a carpet installer and wanted to have the work done before then. We showed up on time and even called her 1/ 2 hour before we expected to arrive. So you can be the judge of whether we merit the grade she placed on this report. We have no need or desire to negotiate outside of the written contract, especially with unreasonable and aggressive customers like this one.

It would not have been possible for me, or my kids to figure out. He also did some other little things that he did because he has an hour minimum charge. I will be calling back with a list in the near future.
