I scheduled a time to have them come and provide an estimate. I explained that I didn't live at the house yet and I had a long drive there to meet him. He confirmed that he would meet me, and he seemed sincere when we talked. He never showed up to provide an estimate. I took hours away from my family to make the special trip. I will never call them again.

I went with Winner b/c the price was good and the office staff I'd dealt with were very helpful. The electricians were late, made messes in my home, damaged my floor, door and wall (and didn't bother to tell me either). The work was not done on time and we were left with no lights in 2 rooms upstairs for 2 days before they could make it back. When they finally made it back and were and quot;done, and quot; none of the electrical outlets worked in one bedroom. They forgot to and quot;hook something up.and quot; The hassle and amount of time I had to spend on the phone about this job totally made the cheap price not worth it. I'd suggest looking elsewhere. And, just today, my husband took down a light switch to replace it b/c we are adding a ceiling fan to my daughters room and there was still old wiring in the light switch.
Description of Work: They were to remove old knob and tube wiring and replace with up to date wiring.

I used Winner Electric before I had an Angie's List account. It was a long time ago, and the only reason I'm submitting a report now is because two different contractors who have been in my attic crawlspace since then have commented on the questionable wiring job that's up there. On top of that, one of the workers dropped something on my piano, leaving a gouge in its finish. I didn't bring it up, but neither did they -- you'd think at least a "my bad" and an apology would have been in order. Not to be entirely negative, I will say that the guys doing the job were generally pretty friendly and accommodating. They even added a bonus outlet for me at no charge, because they were already wiring up that wall for a new switch, and it was a why not scenario. On the other hand... they were supposed to replace two other exterior lighting fixtures, but didn't because they were "out of time." That wasn't really the installers' fault -- though the fixture replacements had been noted at the time of the quote, they mysteriously didn't make it onto the work order itself. Not a big deal, as I was able to replace them easily myself. In all honesty, the experience was what made me finally join Angie's List after having just been considering it for a long time.

I scheduled an appointment with them then I showed up and waited and waited. I called them and got the run around. Finally they called me and I had to literally beg them to come over and complete the job because of other work I was having the next day. I would not recommend them because of their excuses, they didn't return calls, rescheduling appointments, etc. I had a plumbing inspection the next day otherwise I would have said good bye. I would tell others to find someone dependable and not use them. The guy that came over spent a lot of time on his cell phone and I was suspicious that he was getting instructions on what to do. He would talk real low like he didn't want me to hear. They did charge me the price the originally said, but they also gave me a quote over the phone site unseen. Their business practices are not good. I thought the price was a little expensive but they did say they had to use copper wire, however I don't think they used the #4 copper wire like they said they were going to. I asked the last electrician that came over and he said he didn't see it either. Their customer service was lousy. They upset me so much, they didn't show up for almost 4 hours after they were supposed to be there. They kept telling me they would have him call me back and he finally did with some story that conflicted with what the secretary told me.

I contacted Winner because they had done work for me before that was acceptable. The wiring work was performed promptly with no fuss and I am satisfied with the work. My wife isn't entirely satisfied because she can hear the fan when it is running, but that is not due to any fault of the electricians.

They were friendly and efficient and very patient with us. We knew we wanted to raise the height of the ceiling fixture which is installed next to our stairway. They "temporarily" hung the new fixture, shortened the chain, and waited while we walked up and down the stairs. The chain was adjusted several times. Once we were satisfied with the height, they permanently installed the fixture.
Description of Work: They replaced a hanging light fixture in our entryway. They pieced together the new fixture and the glass diffuser, removed the old fixture, and installed the new fixture, chain, and ceiling ornament (and our ceiling is 17 feet high!)

It went well. They came per their schedule and did the installations which included feeding the cable through the garage attic. They were able to do the extra work at the same time. They tested it out and cleaned up.
Description of Work: They furnished and installed two duplex receptacles on the garage wall across from the existing panel. Furnished and installed a switch and a two tube fluorescent light above the work area. Got the necessary electrical permit. Also installed 3-way switches between the entry hall and the garage and 4-way switches for the laundry room light (added to original quote).

I called after the bid to say that I thought two of the items had been over-estimated for time. I was told that they were accurately bid. I agreed to the work. There were six items on the bid list and one item added to cost time and materials. Of the six bid items, they determined that they could not repair two of the items, but charged me because they were bid. Two of the six items were grossly overbid for time: estimated time was 3.5 hours and the actual time 1 hour and 5 minutes (210 minutes estimated and only 65 minutes needed), but I was charged the full bid.
Description of Work: Repair non-functioning lights and outlets. Replaced a kitchen dimmer, repaired outside light, re-wired outlet because hot & neutral were reversed, repaired GFI duplex and installed new dryer cord and plug.

WE OFFER FREE SITE ESTIMATES AND FOLLOW THAT WITH A WRITTEN BID. THIS CUSTOMER ACCEPTED THE BID AND WE DID THE WORK. THE BID WAS FOR 6 HOURS, BUT IT TOOK 8. WE NEVER CHARGE MORE THAN THE BID, HOWEVER, TWO OF THE ITEMS WERE A "QUICK" FIX OR INVOLVED BROKEN WIRING ONCE WE GOT IN THE WALL, AND WOULD REQUIRE THE TIME BID. I OFFERED THIS CUSTOMER A REFUND OF $160.00 PRIOR TO HER POSTING THIS EMAIL, SO I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS COMPLAINT. IT DEALS WITH THE TIME FOR AN ACCEPTED BID NOT THE QUALITY OF THE WORK.

The crew of two men showed up on time. The work took a couple hours longer than they anticipated. They performed the work they were asked to do. The only issue I had was with the work having to do w/the relocation of the power outlet and a punctured hole in the ceiling. Originally, I asked to have the outlet removed but was told had to be moved (not removed). They moved it over the minimum distance from my new door. In the end, I did not like how close it was to the new door molding, so I found out from a different electrician that the outlet could be tied off and the cover plate could be moved to the outside of the house--which is what I ended up having done. The crew also punctured a hole in my kitchen ceiling when running the wire for the recessed lights. I assume this was an accident and that they didn't mention it to me because they thought I'd have to do patchwork on the ceiling but I feel they should have pointed it out to me. I did not report this issue to the company.
Description of Work: Removed existing kitchen light (1 fixture) and installed recessed lighting in kitchen (6 lights); moved dining room light over 8 inches; moved patio light up and installed new fixture; installed new dimmer switch for dining room light; moved power outlet over a few inches to make way for installation of new door.

They were supposed to come out Friday and they called and said there was an emergency and they couldn't come. She said they could make an appointment for today at 8 am. They did not get here until 9. Instead of them changing everything out they just brought me a cord that looks old on my new washer and dryer when I already had a plug. All they were supposed to do is change my box and socket to 30. I did get a 5% discount for being on Angie's List. The work they did was around $50. I would not recommend them.

Jack performed the estimate: was on-time, professional, seemed to understand exactly what I wanted, sent bid promptly. Sent out two electricians: one for the panel and the other for the ground wire and damaged romex. Panel turned out fine, romex repair not what I expected. Panel installer beat on the wall so hard that he knocked everything off the shelves on the other side. Panel installer didn't use a drop cloth, threw debris on the linoleum floor, walked on it, creating some minor damage and scuff marks that had to be scrubbed out. Only replaced one damaged romex wire. When I did final inspection at the end of the day, I asked them why I still had another wire with damaged insulation and they sheepishly taped it up (I was expecting them to replace it, not tape it). They clearly just wanted to pack up and leave. Turns out there's still one romex wire that needs replacing (missed in the estimate and in the onsite work). Didn't realize until they'd already left.
Description of Work: Replaced 200 amp electrical panel with another 200 amp panel that can handle more circuits (included all new breakers as well). Installed new ground wire and ground rod. Repaired two damaged romex runs. Took out electrical permit with county.

I called Winner Electric and Jack came out within two days to look at the work that needed to be done. I had told him that another contractor had said that installing a bathroom ceiling fan might be a problem in our bathroom. Jack came out and said it would be no problem and the work was scheduled w/in three days. However, when they went to do the work-there was a problem and a ceiling fan couldn't be installed. I was a little upset by this. They told me to get a wall mounted fan and then quickly rescheduled the work (which I was very appreciative of because we were in a hurry). Besides the initial problem/misinformation, our experience with them was great. Extremely easy to reach and very helpful on the phone. The fan works great! I am only giving them a "B" in professionalism because I feel they should send someone out who can actually tell you if the work can be done to avoid having to reschedule.

After agreeing to have Winner replace the two ceiling fans, which involves going into the attic to access them, I called Winner to schedule the time. Marci told me the only time they had available was 1:00pm. This was in July and I told her that it would be hot in the attic, but she said that was the only time available. They sent two ''techs'' whose appearance frightened my teenagers. I wasn't home but I think they determined the attic was too hot, so they dismantled one of the fans from inside the bathroom. Then they called me to say they'd need to rip out additional ceiling drywall to access the fans. I asked them to leave. They left a giant mess in my bathroom. I called the owner, Jack (Marci's husband?) and he said he'd investigate and call back. He didn't. I called again and he sent out an actual electrician. It took two trips but the work was finally done. Each time, Jack said he'd call me back but he never did. Winner completed the work satisfactorily but it was a trying time.
Description of Work: Both the bathroom ceiling fans in my home were burnt out. I had tried replacing them myself but the replacement motors had also burned out. I bought two ceiling fans/overhead light fixtures from Home Depot and determined that I couldn't replace them myself. Home Depot wanted $50 just to do an estimate, so I went on Angies List and found Winner Electric, who gave me a quote of $360 over the phone.

THIS LEAD CAME INTO OUR OFFICE OVER A WEEKEND. MONDAY MORNING WE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THIS CUSTOMER BY PHONE, BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. WE LEFT A MESSAGE, INDICATING WE WANTED TO SCHEDULE A FREE ESTIMATE ALONG WITH OUR PHONE NUMBER. WE NORMALLY FOLLOW UP WITHIN 2-3 WEEKS. THERE IS A FINE LINE BETWEEN SECURING THE APPOINTMENT SO THE CUSTOMER DOES NOT FEEL WE ARE NEGLECTING THEM AND AGGRESSIVELY PURSUING THE LEAD, SO THE CUSTOMER IS IRRITATED. AFTER READING THIS REVIEW WE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE CUSTOMER BUT ONCE AGAIN THERE WAS NO RESPONSE, HOWEVER WE DID LEAVE A MESSAGE WITH A HOUSEHOLD MEMBER ALONG WITH OUR PHONE NUMBER INDICATING THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS THIS SITUATION. WE ARE VERY SORRY THE CUSTOMER FOUND US LESS THAN PERSISTENT, BUT WE HAVE CHOSEN TO BE LESS AGGRESSIVE IN OBTAINING OUR WORK AND FIND THE MAJORITY OF OUR CUSTOMERS REALLY APPRECIATE THAT.

As promised, two electricians (Lloyd and Criss) arrived at my house promptly at 8:30am. They were courteous and made it very clear that they wanted me to be satisfied with their work. They installed the attic fan and five ceiling fans in about 6 1/2 hours without taking any breaks. I asked them to do two things that were not included in the original quote: 1. Verify that a sixth light fixture was capable of supporting a fan, 2. Run a doorbell wire. This extra work fell within the quoted 7 hours, so they did not charge more than was quoted for the original work. The reason for the ''B'' in ''Professionalism'' is that they could have done a better job cleaning up. They picked up all of the big stuff and moved the furniture back, but left vacuuming up the insulation to me. Other than that, I was satisfied with their work. It turned out that the attic fan vibrated the house when it ran, so two electricians came back out and corrected the problem within four working days.
Description of Work: Installed one attic fan (fan provided by them) and five ceiling fans (fans provided by me). Attic fan needed to be installed and have power wired to it. Two of the ceiling fans already had fixtures and power, three needed fixtures and power installed.
