Over a two week period I left 3 messages and emailed the contact email on Angies list. I never did receive a call or email back. Did go by the "storefront" and the building does not appear to ever be open. I also checked and there is not a business license in the City of Tualatin for this company that I could find.

David is amazing at what he does. He not only rewired our lamps at a fair price, but he also gave us a history lesson about them. My fiancée's grandmother gave us these lamps and it was a surprise to discover that they are not only sought-after by collectors but are worth $300 a piece. We use them daily and love them. David performed the rewiring while we waited which was so fantastic. When we have a lamp to service at any point in the future, David will be our first call.

The overall experience was great, and the repair only took 24 hours (even with my request to replace the mogul socket - not a standard part). I did have some initial difficulty making contact (playing phone tag); they seem to be operating mostly by appointment rather than daily storefront hours. But once that was figured-out, everything else happened at my convenience.

The repair was done quicker than David had forecasted. He cut the price down also due to the speediness of the repair. David seemed skilled at what he does and is honest and speedy with his work. His estimate was far lower than most places I'd inquired, and his actual cost ended up being even lower than originally estimated. I'm glad I decided to have the chandelier repaired rather than buying a new one. I would certainly recommend the Lamp Doctor, David, to anyone needing lighting repair.

I love old lamps and have 3 other pole lamps and am going to take them all in to have them redone. Way more cost effective than burning your house down. You have to call and make an appointment to meet him at the office bu he is extremely accommodating to your schedule. Highly recommend this business.
Description of Work: I have a 60's pole lamp I had bought at an estate sale a few years ago. It started flickering & when I went to take one of the light bulbs out it seemed stuck and when I got it loose a little piece of black plastic fell out too. Thought I should have it checked out. Took it to the lamp doctor (dave) and he completely rewired it and changed the housing for the light bulbs to porcelain. He showed me the old housing that were cracked & broken off, wires exposed. I am lucky I didn't burn down my house. What I really love is that he matches the cords to the color of metal. Where the light attaches to a gold chain he used gold wire and at the bottom where it's brown he used brown wire.

It did not go well since they don't seem to be in business or they don't keep the hours posted on the door. You might want to check on this as I see there has been a review from work done in February and I do see that you have updated the address.
Description of Work: I got their information on Angie's List and went to their location in Beaverton. They were no longer in business there. I then went to the yellow pages and found another address so I drove 10 miles to Tualatin to find the store closed and no sign of life.

Sorry for the Inconvenience [member name removed] we were unaware that our Angie's List profile did not state that we are by appointment. We had moved locations in Jan of 2012 and the landlord had not removed our signage from the window stating our old hours, when we moved we switched to by appointment. Thank You and Sorry again for the inconvenience

After this lamp sat in another shop for 8 months without apparently even being looked at, we took it to Lamp Doctor and it was repaired on the spot. I would urge everyone who has been ill-treated by "that other lamp repair shop" to take their business to Lamp Doctor. He is courteous and skilled.
Description of Work: He repaired an old "bridge lamp" which was malfunctioning, and he also turned the socket and shade parts around (they'd been changed years ago and we thought the lamp would look better in its original configuration).

I recently moved to Beaverton and the movers took apart a Tiffany-style lamp. When I arrived, a small but important metal piece that connected the lamp stand with the shade was missing. I brought the lamp in unannounced and Zane helped me immediately, finding replacement pieces, all the way to a matching finial for on top of the shade, for a very low cost. Now my lamp is usable, and I was thrilled!

Wonderful! I remembered the shop owner from when he worked at a now-defunct lighting store on Western Avenue, and was happy to see that he had opened his own business. As always, he was extremely courteous and helpful. He added an additional on-off control to the cord and performed both repairs on the spot. This is a hard-working, knowledgeable young man who has earned all the good feedback found on Angie's List.

Fast and easy. It was a little higher than the estimate because of extra repair. Still extremely reasonable.

Two Lighting repair businesses on Angies List quoted between $40-$75 to fix it, plus a two to four week turnaround. The Lamp Doctor suggested I bring it in as he was fairly sure how to remedy to problem. The lamp had an old style dimmer box that housed a fuse, so cost to fix: $3. The owner was even nice enough to help me carry the lamp back to my truck. This guy was A-1 awesome, and he should be the one lamp retailers recommend rather than "LL." I purchased an extra fuse for the future.

Well. Prompt, excellent price, service.
Description of Work: Repair of entry chandelier, purchased at an estate sale. Very large 10 arm entry chandelier was re-wired, chain extended, all matched to original lamp, ready for hanging. Very prompt service. He was very friendly and gave me additional information, quick fix, on how to repair a lamp that I have sitting at home. I would highly recommend this business.

This was the second time in two weeks that I used this company to repair table lamps. David opened up his lamp repair shop in March 2009. A couple of years ago I used Beaverton Light Shoppe, but they went out of business recently. I was delighted when I discovered The Lamp Doctor in Beaverton. He replaced the three-way switch on the first table lamp within 48 hours. The second lamp he repaired and returned to me in less than 24 hours! He told me what wattage bulbs to use to avoid problems in the future, and educated me about fluorescent and incandescent bulbs. Both times he carried the lamp to my car. I couldn't have asked for better service!
