He diagnosed the problem quickly, patiently explaining and showing me the failing parts and the visibly symptomatic indicators of the conditions on my mother board. He clearly laid out my options for repair and replacement, which included proceeding on my own without further use of his services (for which he would impose no charge thus far). I decided, based on the confidence instilled by Marvin and the appeal of avoiding further time-consuming convesion effort on my part, to purchase a new computer from Softserve PC, fully configured and converted, with minimal work on my part. I believe I have a new desktop configuration, much more robust and reliable in performance, security, and longevity for both H/W and S/W. Marvin had been in business for several years and places the foremost value in preserving and building upon customer satisfaction and service to anchor his business to its well-earned reputation for responsiveness and satisfying his customers' needs.

Marvin is a real gentleman and a pro. I contacted him about a software problem, and he emailed extensively with me about the problem - giving me troubleshooting advice to try on my own. When nothing worked he came out to the house for 2 hours. Yesterday he returned to install a trial graphics card. Because it didn't solve the problem, he didn't charge me for the total of 4 hours that he spent at my house. This was beyond fair in that he worked on my computer by cleaning it up, setting up a locked system, making it work faster, etc. My problem is probably related to photo software glitches so I am asking Nik Software for a refund.

Marvin came out and spent over an hour fixing my computer issue. He is extremely knowledgable about all the issues that can pop up in a system. He fixed our issue within abot 7 minutes. He then proceeded to complete a tune up. Although it took longer than an hour to complete, Marvin only charged me an hour. He even followed up with a phone call later in the day to make sure our system was running properly. GREAT SERVICE! Thank you for your kindness and dedication! We will definately be using you again!

I have been with Marvin for about 15 years. He has serviced and built all of my computers since I moved to Portland. I have him come in once a year and clean up my system. He is a wonderful and knowledgable man and is very patient with the technically challenged such as myself. My last purchase was a laptop. I could have purchased one more inexpensively, but when I shopped and compared price with quality, I feel that I got a very good deal. When there was a minor manufacturer issue with the machine later, he took care of it immediately. It is also very convenient that he comes to your home. You always have everything you need. I will continue to work with Marvin and highly recommend him to anyone else that needs these services.

Marvin arrived promptly, listened to my problem issues with my computer and removed redundant tool bars and spyware that was slowing down my computer and causing crashes. He gave me some tools to keep the computer clean in the future and also gave me some tips on how to avoid future problems. His charge for this service was very reasonable and I would definitely call on him again.

Response was prompt. Service was really good. Computer operates fine. Marvin was very knowledgeable, personable and friendly.

Marvin came to my house and tried to get the computer to start, trying several different ways. None of them worked, so he took it back to his shop. As it turned out, the hard drive had failed. It was a month or so past the warranty, but Marvin honored it anyway. He tried to get the computer back to me early but was so busy with other clients that it took almost a week. I've been a customer of Marvin's for at least 10 years. He is extremely knowledgeable, very dependable and a pleasure to work with. He always goes the extra mile. If I have a simple problem, I can always call and get a call back as soon as he's available, almost always the same day or within 24 hours. If he can just tell me how to solve it over the phone quickly, he does it without charge. He even puts up with my dog Scrappy, which is not always easy. I would highly recommend Marvin for both sales of computers and service.

Marvin tried calling me back within 30 mins of my original call (I had missed it) and then returned my call after hours. I could not gain internet access due to not having my router password and it was urgent and important for me to have access today. Marvin very patiently walked me through the steps (sometimes numerous times) I needed to gain access. I was referred to him by a mutual client and I was reluctant to call and experience the sometimes snarky attitude high-tech experts can have with us mere mortals (who know very little). I was so pleasantly surprised to have the complete opposite experience. He was not only an expert but he also had customer service skills and seemed genuinely happy to just help me get what I needed. I have needed help with my computer issues many times over the years and now that I know there is someone independent and local who will actually help me, I will gladly hire him in the future and refer others to him. Thank you Marvin, you sincerely made my life and job so much better tonight and saved me a lot of time and frustration.

I am extremely happy. I had called another computer repair company that wanted me to drive across town and bring my computer to leave with them. I know that the next time I have an issue with computers I will call Marvin first.

I have never had such an honest, dedicated and caring man help me with a service call. He was very knowledgeable and efficient and made it very clear money wasn't his driving force, helping me was. I am so, very happy to see data that has been lost on my non working computer for 4 years. Marvin was just here last night (his second service call) and I am going through my computer looking at the documents, pictures and music he retrieved from the other computer for me. The old hard drive was crashing as he was working but he kept holding it together to rescue my data. He will be coming back to do other work on my new computer. He put in alot of extra time and effort to fix my computer problems and didn't charge me extra for his time. His work ethic and reputation exceed anyone I have ever met in this field (and most other fields too). He even noticed my speakers weren't working well and gave me a pair he had in his truck that someone gave him. Now I have new speakers too. I chose Marvin for all the good reviews I read on Angie's list and will attest to they are well deserved. I would whole heartily recommend Marvin and Softserve PC to anyone who wants to work with someone that knows what they are doing and not in it to just overcharge you.

I was very impressed with him. I don’t remember exactly what the price is but it seemed reasonable because he spend quite bit on time and he actually took a part and returned with it. It was better than normal price.

It started when I couldn't install the latest version of QuickBooks. The technical service company recommended by the maker of my computer took over. The problem went from bad to worse every time this tech company did something to my computer (by remote control of my computer). After about 3 weeks of off and on effort, which included multiple backups and multiple reformatting of my hard drive, my computer had maxed out it large capacity, and the tech said, "We need for you to get a new external hard drive, back everything up, again, and then reformate the hard drive, again! That's when I put my foot down and said "No way -- not again!" I had already spent over 20 hours of sitting in front of my computer while these people remotely worked on it. By the end, I couldn't use my computer at all! That's when I turned to Angie's List. After spending a fair amount of time looking at all of the listings within 50 miles of my office, I finally settled on Marvin, the owner of Softserve PCs In Tualatin, Oregon. That was an important decision, as I am not in Marvin's service area -- so it involved me making nearly a 70 mile roundtrip drive to deliver my computer to Marvin, and another 70 mile trip to pick it up -- and it was worth ever mile I drove, and every penny I spent! Marvin got my computer on a Friday, and he worked on it a little that night, and then on Saturday and Sunday -- because he knew this computer was central to my business. After examining my computer, he explained exactly what he thought should be done, and made sure I understood why it needed be done. His explanations and patience were a great relief, especially after what I had been through with the former technicians. When he was through, my computer worked better than when I first took it out of the box. I recommend Marvin and his company highly -- He's my only tech from here on out!

It went very well. We called on Monday after the junk software made our machine unusable. Marvin came on Wednesday afternoon. We have used Marvin's services on a number of occasions. He also built our desktop computer. We have learned that not only is he knowledgeable, but that he stands behind all of the work that he does. Our computer is now faster and glitch-free. What we especially like is how he explains the "why" of what he is doing. It is like having a computer instructor and technician in one. As long as Marvin is in business, he will be our go-to computer person.

I have been using them regularly. Mr. Marvin the owner is just so knowledgeable about PCs. He is very fast and thorough. I just cannot say enough about him. He is terrific. A family member recommended his company to me. I have been using him for the last 6 months. I have used him multiple times. He actually comes to your home. He will come and bring everything right to you. It's wonderful and he is terrific. He comes, troubleshoots, then we will fix it, or buy anything we need. You can buy equipment from him or he will build you a computer.

When they come in they work very quickly. I have never had a problem he could not resolve. He is very good at what he does.

Marvin arrived as promised and checked my computer. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about his work. He has worked on computers for 20 years. Marvin found a hidden virus and removed it. He also reinstalled my printer system and took unnecesary files out so my computer would run better. He works fast and knows his job. I will call him again later to maybe build a new computer when I have the money. I am very happy with my computer now and recommend his service very highly.
