Nice workmanship, but they burned through a lot of hours with 2-3 people on site.

The damage was way worse than I thought, but this company saved me tens of thousands of dollars by doing it now before the wood rotted completely / damaged the main structure of the house. The crew was professional and friendly. When one guy fell (!) and broke one of my bird feeders, THEY apologized to ME and bought me new ones. Seriously. They are really stand-up people and a pleasure to work with. I would definitely works with them again. Best of all, now the covered patio is covered with something that isn't a death trap waiting to ruin my house . :)

Excellent! They were pleasant, fast, and friendly. When they accidentally broke a birdhouse they got me a nice gift to replace it. The roof is really nice now, making the yard a much nicer place to be.

SFW did an amazing job. My fence looks beautiful. The guys were professional and hardworking.

Awful. We have bid and purchased over $40,000 worth of work through Angie's List referrals and have been very pleased with every other business we've used. This company not only kept us in the dark regarding the time the work would be completed, the price of the work after the coupon was fulfilled, only one knowledgeable worker constantly being disrupted, left their work truck for 2 days after the job was complete blocking other work being done, overcharged us compared to other bids by $1,000, sent a 'right to a lien' on the house prior to the formal bill, refused to accept credit card payment as well as threatened a 1.5% increase of total price everyday if amount was not paid in full. This was the worst hired experience we have ever gone through. We are not planning to use Angie's List in the future because of this, and my son and his finance to lose all of their savings because they wouldn't let them use a credit card. I am very displeased. My son's finance had to call the company several times and was brushed off. This a preditory business.

I haven't been able to get it done. I requested a refund. They didn't answer my emails for a long time and when I finally called them and everything, they said it would take a real long time and that they would place an extra charge for the material. They wouldn't provide what they said they were going to. It just seemed too hard to get them to come out and do anything. They said they couldn't tell me the cost until they came out here and then it would cost $80 an hour and they did have to go get material, so I would also be charged. They weren't willing to come out, take a look and tell me how much it would cost.

They know how to do a quality job. The good: Quality workmanship and materials. They replaced materials with a better grade, treated cut ends with rot preservative, and put in some good vapor barriers where needed. Tracy refined the design in order to make it more waterproof. Tracy was very nice and easy to work with. He was a good communicator. The room for improvement/or what to expect that won't change that I didn't know: Scheduling: six week out changed to 12 weeks out. They schedule by phone call only and if you miss their phone call, you'll wait longer. The emails I sent giving details about parking issues would not be useful because they don't schedule in advance so I couldn't reserve parking spots for them the city of PDX in advance. The work crew: Tracy was the head man on a two man team and was the craftsman. He had an apprentice to instruct and they both bill the same hourly rate. Since the company does not pre-bid it means they size up the job as they go after they arrive and it could mean numerous calls to the person who purchases and delivers the building materials and that can mean some delays and work stoppage time. They get the bulk of their materials from Lakeside Lumber in the Tualatin area, so the closer to that you are , the better. I think they carry siding materials with them, though, so this is more of an issue on a more specialized building project.

The crew arrived early in the morning, right as scheduled, at 7:45 am. They utilized their time well, setting up their work areas in the semi-darkness of a late December morning, and worked almost the entire day. Several areas of wood siding were repaired on the north and east sides of the house, while several others need replacing, which the crew did with pre-primed wood. The lead crew member spent most of his day dismantling the badly damaged porch pillar, then reconstructing the core with water-resistant material, and constructing a new pillar to match the others. This new construction was primed, and he placed a water-resistant base on the post as well. He inspected the other pillars, and reassured us that they were both in good condition. When they were finished, the area was cleaned up completely; in fact, I have to say that the breezeway was cleaner than when they arrived, and the yard spotless. No materials were left behind. Great job, all around!

They do not give estimates and bill by the hour per man. I had a previous company try and repair the leaks on several occasions, but the leaks kept coming back. SFW did a very thorough job and the windows are no longer leaking. Because they were thorough, the job did take longer than I thought it would so the bill was more than I expected; however, as fall/winter approach, it is a huge relief to have the leaks taken care of.

They were nice to deal with but their schedule was too busy to do the job quickly. As a result, I had to cancel the work after payment through Angie's List. The refund process went smoothly and because of the professional way it was handled I will be using SFW in the future when then need for construction arises.

I got a refund on my Angie's List Big Deal. When I was first contacted I was told it would take three weeks to get on the schedule, after following up at the 6 week mark, I ask for a refund on my deal because I wasn't getting a response from the provider.

They showed up on time, explained to me what needed to be done and did a very thorough job of removing all of the old rotted wood and replacing it and adding trim to prevent future rot. They cleaned up everything when they left. Really did a nice job!

These repairs were to be done for the buyer of our home. They gave us a pretty tight timeline for getting the work done. I was able to speak with SFW to access their availability for this project, then I bought the Angie's list deal. Applying the deal to the work was painless, and I was able to get in contact with their scheduler and a supervisor who were able to fit us in on short notice. Scott kept in contact with me and was very clear in communicating what they were doing and what problems they faced along the way. From the inspectors assessment I had originally planned for these fixes to be about 1 day and roughly $1,000. But as the work was being done they kept facing problem after problem. Most were due to the DIY upgrades performed by the previous owners. As they guarantee their work for 10 years, they did not cut any corners and performed all the repairs to code. Though I do not fault SFW for the amount of time it took or the problems they faced once they got behind the siding, I was shocked when this turned into a 5 day project and $10,000. Although I was unhappy with the amount of time and cost in the end, I would recommend SFW for siding and dry-rot repair. Their communication over the phone and in person was excellent. Plus they went out of their way to fit us into a tight timeline we needed for the repairs.

It went well. My property manager supervised the job and said it went well. My only issue was that it took so many calls to get scheduled.

BEWAREOF USING SFW CONSTRUCTION LLC!!! DO NOT accept a time and materials contract, job times will be inflated by slow moving crews. DO NOT believe estimates of times to do projects. Two hour estimates become three day messes. DO NOT expect to communicate with supervisors. Multiple phone calls, e-mails and even letters will not be responded to. DO expect to manage the job yourself, in our case ending in firing the crew and asking them to leave. DO NOT expect cleanliness. The crew worked in a messy environment, never cleaned up at the end of the day and the company had to be threatened with financial cost to take garbage away. WORST OF ALL, DO NOT expect to negotiate any problems. We eventually went to arbitration ( as outlined in SFW own contract language) and even the arbitrator said," SFW refuses to negotiate in good faith."

First I want to say that I payed a little more than I anticipated. I bought 4 hours of labor for half price ($125) using one of Angie's Lists deals. My total bill was just over $600 when all was said and done. This is mainly due to the amount of work necessary to do the repair right. They had a two person team working for just over 5 hours total. The 2 person team sent by SFW did a great job, using cedar for the work to ensure the pedestals last much longer this time. Not only that, they did it in the pouring rain. After I painted the pedestals, they look absolutely great and their work was worth every penny spent.

VERY WELL.. THE INITIAL E-MAIL WITH STEVE WADE. HE WAS VERY RESPONSIVE AND ANSWERD QUICKLY. JAY SET UP THE SCHEDULING...JOSH WAS THE ON SITE SUPERVISOR AND SECOND PERSON WAS KYLE. JOSH WAS RIGHT ON TIME, WENT OVER EVERYTHING WITH US AND THE TWO OF THEM GOT TO WORK RIGHT AWAY. THEY WORKED QUICKLY AND WITHOUT WASTING TIME. VERY PLEASED. I DEFINITLY WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN.

It was pretty good. it was more expensive than I expected but I don't do a lot of home repairs so that's probably my problem.

It went well. They did the work that was necessary promptly and professionally and got the job done in spite of the pouring down rain.

Instead of coming out to talk to us, we needed to email all the information over, so it was really hard to understand what we were getting or not. I believe that Angie's List already credited back our account for this purchase and we went elsewhere to get the work done. I'm sure the company does fine work based on their other reviews, it just wasn't fit for us.

I purchased the deal of 4 hours of siding fixes with SFW. It took few to get an appointment for them to come out and get the work done. On the day of appointment, two of their contractors showed up and worked for 5 hours. I was not aware of the $65 per hour for each contractor. So, in the end when the invoice showed up, it was a sticker shock as I did not read the fine print of the contract work. But the contractors did a fine job and fixed the damaged siding.

Purchased the deal for wood rot restoration and/or siding repair. They took a look at my backyard shed where the wood siding was starting to disintegrate at the ground. Discovered the shed was not on any kind of foundation, so not worth putting much time and effort into it. But they shored it up, strengthened it as best they could and it should last me another year or two until I can afford to replace it. I appreciated the honesty and willingness to do what they could.

When they showed up they were on time and professional! They fixed what they promised and I was happy with the finish job!

I cancelled the project and was refunded my money. Thank you!
