They appear to be governed by lawyers and fear. They would not accommodate my need to stay on budget. Instead of following my instruction to let me do the grunt work to keep costs down, they had some kid picking up dog crap at $80/hour, to go shopping at $80/hour, etc. They spent almost an hour going over liability issues and--yes, that's right--charged me $80/hour for that conversation. The quality of work was good. That's not my issue. They know what they are doing. But quality gets downgraded because it was way over the top of what was needed to take care of a leak under a door. Why? Lawyers and fear, I suspect. I am sure they thought they were doing the job right, but it was not what I asked for. Instead of a door leak that should have taken a few hours, it turned into a 3-day project and nearly $4,000 because they just had to do the job right or not at all. Who's in charge? The customer or the corporate liability lawyers? When fear of liability trumps customer instructions, limited budget, and willingness to live with less, I have a problem with that.

The SFW team was professional and conscientious. They didn't try to oversell or scam, took care of the job from start to finish, and left the work areas clean. I have an old house, so they made sure to create containment areas to minimize lead-paint dust. They might cost a bit more than Joe Handyman, but they'll do everything the right way.

From start to finish SFW has been a very professional operation. We had dry rot to repair prior to repainting and were on a tight timeline. SFW worked with us to meet our deadline. On the job site the crew was great; from the office staff communication with customers is a model of clarity and efficiency. Hat's off all around to a well-run operation that treats the customer very well indeed. SFW may not be the low bid, bid in this case, the quality from top to bottom is worth every penny. SFW is highly recommended.

The overall job was done as expected, but the fine details were overlooked (nails poking out at places, different quality of T1-11 siding used, caulking applied with little care and smudged on existing siding. Recommend anyone hiring to do a close inspection for any "less than expected" quality issues.
