+ -1 moreJeff was the inspector for my home inspection, I think he's the owner. Very professional and knowledgeable. I called and spoke with Carrie in the office who set up an appointment for my home inspection for 1 week out. Jeff arrived on-time (a few minutes early, in fact) and provided a report by the end of the day. I don't remember how many pages it was, but the inspection report was the most thorough I've ever had and as a result, I was able to talk the seller down by $20,000.00 (twenty-thousand). So, the $375 I spent on the home inspection was a great Return on Investment. As mentioned, every aspect of the 75 year old house was inspected inside and out, top to bottom. Jeff was like a detective on a crime scene-no detail left out. I've been working on the house now for nearly 2 months and all the repairs we were told needed doing were right on, and everything that didn't need doing are still clear to star board. Thank you Angies List and Amber Home Inspections. I will use Amber Home Inspections again and recommend this company without the slightest hesitation.
Description of Work: The phone number on Angie's list is no longer working, I contacted Amber Home Inspections at 541-519-2625. They will not only do inspections in Portland, but Eastern Oregon. They performed a Home inspection of a 75 year old home I put in an offer to buy as an investment. Inspected all aspects (things I never thought of and we are DIY'ers ) of the house from the ground up. Crawled under the house looked for pests, rot, water leaks, ventilation, foundation, structure and more. Then, inspected every square inch of the interior of the house, including the closets, heating system, electrical, lights, plumbing, sockets, appliances and hook-up sockets, gas and gas leaks, fireplace and flute, chimney (as far as he could see), and the roof. Also looked at garage, the doors, floor. You name it, it was commented on in the report and the walk through. The last home inspection I had (prior to finding Amber Home) was 1 hour from the time they arrived through the walk through and a brief report. Jeff spent over 2 & 1/2 hours, plus a few phone calls and lengthy report on top of the time at the home site. VERY thorough. I've never had such a thorough inspection and this is the 15th house I have purchased.

+ -1 moreBecause we used Jeff before for our own home inspection, we knew he wouldn't leave any detail out. Gave us a lot to think about before purchasing one of the homes (for investment purposes), as it needed a lot of work that was not disclosed or noticeable to the non-inspectors eye. Jeff was prompt in returning phone calls and very professional. His report was very detailed and we used it to bargain on home purchasing and because if it, we saved several thousand dollars. We would us him again, he is the best I've ever seen and this is my 12th home in 8 years. He changed his phone number, so we had a hard time tracking him down. But he assured us that he still does inspections in Portland, Eastern Oregon and soon to be Boise, ID. 541-519-2625 is the number he gave us.
Description of Work: Inspected 2 houses prior to purchase. This was a top to bottom, interior to exterior inspection. He even crawled under the houses and did a pest assessment. Tested for moisture, dry rot and structural stability. His recommendations for work were up to date with current coding. He keeps up with the industry and has a lot of fancy tools of the trade.

+ -1 moreThis was my first home purchase, and this company was recommended by my realtor. What an excellent recommendation! The inspector showed me on the spot what needed to be repaired and what I could expect to need repair in the future on this old house. He found some concerns with the foundation, and I was able to get the sellers to fix it before I bought the house, which saved me thousands of dollars. The inspector was always on-time, responsive to my calls and questions, and very professional. He provided a very thorough written report to back up the walk-through inspection, which I used when closing on the house with the sellers. He spent 3 hours on the actual inspection and was available for phone calls anytime to discuss my questions after the inspection. Thank you Amber Home Inspections. I will be recommending to all my family and friends!

+ -1 moreMr. Schick was very professional and courteous; returning my calls and flexible when we needed to re-schedule. We have had other inspections in the past and this is the first time we felt everything was actually covered from top to bottom, inside and out. He provided a very thorough written report which was easy to follow and gave us an idea of which items we needed to tackle first. We looked around and the price for the inspection was very reasonable. They are very honest and reliable.
