NELSON'S PAINTING

In 2004 we paid over $3400 to have our house painted. The prep work was so bad that by summer of 2006 the paint had cracked, peeled and looked awful. Mr Nelson said he couldn't afford to repaint for free and charged us $1500 additional for the labor. The paint company provided the paint. By April 2007 Mr Nelson said he would paint the house "soon" but needed the full $1500 right then, something about truck payment or repairs. He seemed so nice, I gave it to him. A representative from the paint company inspected the house, again Mr Nelson put us off during the summer. He had to finish the "Pepsi Building". Then he couldn't paint due to the rains, then it was too cold during the winter. By spring 2008 he had someone put some vent holes in the house and repair posts on the front porch. I paid $100 to his assistant to fix the glazing on basement windows that was not done during the first painting. In June 2008 I filed an "intent to file" with the CCB and found out that the address on the receipt he gave me for the $1500 had an old, incorrect address on SW Stella Way. (The residents of the address said he hadn't been there for about 5 years.) Following this, Mr. Nelson called and wanted to "wash the house" - I guess he got the message from the paint representative. On Sunday, around July 9th, 2008, Mr. Nelson and his wife, Barbara(?), power washed the house for 20 minutes and left. A phone message promised he would be back by the middle of July to paint the house. I went to the paint store and picked up all the primer and several gallons of house paint. Mr. Nelson has not returned any of my telephone calls since mid July. The really sad part is we referred Nelson Painting to 3 other families. When it became obvious that Mr Nelson wasn't going to paint our house or return our money, I found out our friends had not told us of their problems with the company. One day he was to paint he was in a golf tournament, according to the gal at his office.

Got a quote but decided to not use this company. Checked with CCB and found their license is suspended with a $2,800 judgment outstanding since 12/2006. Did not want to take a chance that the job would not be completed to my satisfaction.

TERRIBLE STILL WAITING AFTER 3 YEARS FOR HIM TO FINISH JOB. FIRST AND ONLY COAT OF PAINT HE PUT ON HOUSE RAN AFTER FIRST RAIN AND LOOKED BAD. ALSO HAVE HALF PAINTED PORCH. NO RESPONSE AFTER SEVERAL PHONE CALLS AND PROMISES TO FINISH JOB.

The painters were professional, pleasant to work with and good at their job.

Mr. Nelson and his female partner came to give us an estimate. They said they would begin the work immediately as soon as I could agree on a color. They power sprayed the house as if the work would commence quickly. They stated they were "a week out" and I should hurry and pick up my colors so they could be ordered and they could get started. I gave them $1800.00 up front (half). They stuck a sign in my yard without my permission prior to leaving advertising a 30%off special. I called in my final color choice 3 days later. It has been over a month, no job started, no phone calls returned. They have my $1800.00 which I asked for back today or I will see my attorney on Thursday to try to recover it. Beware.

Rich was very prompt in returning my call and giving a written estimate including guarantee of work. Payment above did not include purchase of paint which was extra. His crew was at our home at the time specified, finished on time, and prior to leaving, they had us do a walk around of the house before they left. They were polite and courteous.

Reasonably priced, but asked for cash at the end of the day. Did not come back and complete the molding which was part of the quote.
