Lowe's Home Improvement - Tigard

I had never bought anything from Lowe’s before but I was satisfied with how they treated me. I haven’t been to their store because it is too far away from me - I did it on the computer. I selected a basic stove based on its picture on their site and the color as well. I gave them all the information and a credit card number. They had to get it from someplace else. I thought that when they delivered it to the Portland office, they would call me so that I could take a look at it; instead, it came into the city, and the delivery person said that it was ready to be delivered. Since I had checked on this model at several different stores, I just let them deliver it. They took away my old one and put in the new one at no extra charge. Everything went smoothly and there was no problem at all except that it wasn’t the color that I had wanted. I think another store was selling an identical stove but with the color that I had wanted, and it was about $100 less; I didn’t find any difference between them except for the color. Their price included a cord, and I felt that the price was right. They added the shipping cost though. I checked some other companies; some of them charged $70 to deliver, and the price was more even though the item was the same. I am very satisfied with the stove. Their store is very far from me, and so if I wanted to use them, I would probably have to go through the internet again.

The installer arrived on time. He then removed the old molding (3 pieces) and installed new molding. Next he installed the storm door and its associated trim pieces. The two door closers were installed and adjusted. The door handle hardware was installed and adjusted. I had three bids on this job. The other two were 2 to 4 hundred dollars more. I chose the lowest bidder. I feel that I got what I paid for. Half the cost was for the door itself and the other half for the labor to install. To truly finish the job I had to remove the door and its trim to fill some screw holes, and paint the molding and then put it back together. Also the area where the door latch bracket attaches to the door jam was poorly installed in large part because of problems already present. I spent time reworking the door jam and got a nice install on the door latch bracket. All that area needed filling and painting as well. I guess I didn't really expect the installer to do what really needed to be done and that I would have to do the finish work. Maybe the higher bidders would have done this finish work but I never really knew if they would go that far. The "two" of us got the job done right.

Their quality is fairly good. They have a lot of varieties there. There was one guy who helped me out in selecting the carpets. They were on time with everything. They do the installation and also contract out the installation. They cleaned up after themselves and they even vacuumed everything once they finished the work. I would grade them high on all categories.

Bought low cost dishwasher, got home realized mistake, went back, took act of congress to change color (one digit on SKU difference), screwed up and ended up charging me an extra $25 due to incompetence of the supervisor who was called to transact it, installer that came was extremely professional, extremely quick, knowledgeable. One of the best I have ever seen actually (of course it was a simple project).

As expected, I think it was not as cheap as I thought it was going to be compared to some others, but they stand behind their work and have good subcontractors, plus it is kind of nice to get everything you need all under one roof.

They came out and installed all of them in one day. They are quite friendly and professional and are careful of woodwork. They also clean up after themselves.

It was time for a new washer and dryer, with the front loading our top choice, both to save money and to have the top space at a counter. One store had the models I liked, but the price was better at Lowe's, so we went with them. The salesman was fine, but we'd already decided (by looking at one store, plus a whole lot of online research) to get the models they had at a good price. These are the Whirlpool Duet Sport, slightly smaller than the Whirlpool Duet, and also somewhat less expensive. Delivery was scheduled in good time, and the machines installed nicely. It was about 4 months later when friends from out of country were visiting, that it was noticed the two machines didn't exactly match in color. After much calling, nice conversations both on the phone and during a visit from a supervisor, plus a double-check at two of the chain's stores, we had to go with keeping what we had. It seems to be a reality that the washers and the dryers are not painted at the same places. I'm a stickler for things matching, but this time I had to let it go. It helped that at each step, the people of Lowe's were very easy to deal with.

Installer didn't call within Lowe's promised 3 day period for initial measurements. Called Lowe's and found out that they had made mistake on paperwork. This was the first of literally 5 paperwork mistakes that caused the process to take from May, 2008 until the work was finalized in 9/08. Installer came back numerous times to remeasure because the "paperwork was lost." After the door was finally installed, the installer informed us that they do not install the screens. 3 weeks later with numerous unreturned phone calls, we were informed that Lowe's did not have an installer for that type of screen and that they could install a far inferior brand screen. After a letter to corporate, better business bureau and the store manager, a comparable screen was ordered and installed.

We had a great experience throughout the process working with Lowe's. Their kitchen countertop person was excellent - both friendly and knowledgeable. Lowe's installation office checked in with us several times, both before and after the job was complete and was on site during the installation to oversee the subcontractor. We initially ordered more countertop than we actually installed due to changes in the kitchen design. Lowe's was happy to refund us the difference since the changes occurred before the template was done.

They didn't have enough help at the store. I waited a half hour before I could talk to clerk. They told me it would be delivered on Thursday the 17th and they didn't tell me a time. They called them and they said it would be late afternoon or evening. At 5:30 they still didn't give the window of time. I called them and they said it would be between four and seven. They called at 6:30 and they said they couldn't make it that day. I rescheduled for three clock on Friday and they showed up at 2:30. It took them two hours to get them in the house. They damaged them in some places but they gave me a fifteen percent discount. They spent time to make sure they were working right and balanced correctly. I was very pleased with the people who delivered the washer and dryer.

They were very informative on what we could do with our windows - had a bunch of choices. We told them what we were wanting and they quickly pointed us in the right direction. Prices were right so we went ahead and purchased through them. Easy process.

Great! Was really impressed to get rebate for the $59 delivery charge really fast, less than two weeks. Lowe's has a really good extended warranty plan I highly recommend. We also had coupon for 10% off, which was on the warranty plan, too. So it made our deal pretty good. Lowe's is my favorite home improvement store.

The install aspect is proceeding nicely. The steps leading up to it has been nothing but trouble. I had Lowes come out and measure the areas mentioned on Sept 1. They were very efficient in getting the measurements done. After the measurements were taken, I was told it would take a few days for Lowes to receive the info and and give me an estimate based on the materials I've chosen. Unfortunately there were limited or no displays (depending on material) so I couldn't choose anything. I was told to drive out to Hillsboro and view their displays. They also had limited or none. After finally visiting several Lowes, I was able to pick my materials and e mailed my selections to the salesperson. I made call after call inquiring about an estimate-with an occasional return call-never timely. I resorted to dropping by the store and waiting. After 3 store visits I was able to track down the salesperson and stood by while he computed my bid. This process took 1 long frustrating month.

The staff at Lowe's were completely useless. They couldn't provide me with any samples, as they said a remodel was in progress.

Jason at Lowe's in Tigard was very helpful especially when there were several delays at the manufacturer for the custom-size set of doors. They measured, and then installed the doors and windows very professionally.

For the best in appliance sales, hands down, Lowe's has my vote. I have researched every single store in Oregon for the price of my new washer. Lowe's prices were anywhere from $100 to $500 less than anyone in town. Plus, the delivery service is soooo helpful. Poof your new washer installed and washing in no time at all.

I have never experienced worse customer service. After purchasing the cabinets, the sales person did not return calls regarding scheduling the installation or ordering the counter tops. The other people in the cabinet department are of no help either. They tell me that I am not their customer and therefore cannot help. I thought I was a Lowe's customer but apparently, the commission they earn prohibits them from helping. I am frustrated and angry with all of them. I would strongly recommend going somewhere else.

The installer was polite but left screws and other debris on the floors. The sales department was very apologetic, several times, and did return my phone calls in a timely manner. But that department seemed rather inept at getting the order corrected.

On 2/21/06 I paid Lowe's to install a water heater. Lowe's promised I would be contacted that day about installation. On 2/22/06 Lowe's called to advise they needed another $20.00! Finally on 2/27/06 I was contacted about setting up an installation date. Needless to say I could NOT wait 6 days before an installation would even be scheduled!

Everyone was very professional and friendly, from the estimator at the Lowe's store to the gentleman who came out and made the templet to the installers. The installers called before coming out to give an eta and were on time and sometimes even early. Completed on the day they said they would and to our satisfaction.

THE STORE WAS EXCELLENT ON FOLLOWUP ON EVERY STEP OF THE PROCESS AND THE SUBCONTRACTOR COMPANY WAS EXTREMELY THOROUGH, PROMPT AND EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL. FOLLOWING INSTALLATION LOWE'S FOLLOWED-UP TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING WAS PROPERLY HANDLED. GREAT EXPERIENCE AND VERY PLEASED.

THE SALESPEOPLE WERE KNOWLEDGEABLE, AND HELPFUL. THE RANGE I WANTED WAS A CLEARANCE ITEM, AND THEY HAD TO HAVE IT TRANSFERRED FROM ANOTHER STORE, WHICH THEY HAPPILY HANDLED FOR ME. SHE ANSWERED QUESTIONS ABOUT OTHER APPLIANCES AS WELL. THIS RANGE WAS AT GEORGE SMITH FOR $1100 ON SALE, AND I ONLY PAID $750, AND GOT FREE DELIVERY, AND HAUL AWAY OF OLD STOVE.

CARPET TOOK LONGER TO RECEIVE THAN EXPECTED INSTALLERS WERE ON TIME AND VERY PLEASANT.

LOWES HAS THE WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE. EVERYONE INVOLVED FROM ORDERING THE WINDOW COVERINGS TO INSTALLING THE COVERINGS MADE SEVERAL MISTAKES. THE INSTALLER HAD TO COME OUT THREE TIMES DUE TO HIS MISTAKES. THE PEOPLE WHO ORDERED THE COVERINGS MADE SEVERAL MISTAKES. WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WOULD TAKE 3 WEEKS TO DO THE JOB AND INSTEAD IT TOOK OVER 2 MONTHS.

WE PREFERRED THE SELECTION AT LOWE'S OVER SEVERAL OTHER STORES WE LOOKED AT. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES WERE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HELPFUL.
