HOMEMASTERS West PDX

We interviewed several companies and chose homemasters. They did meet our lowest bid. We were very explicit about what we wanted including some fairly unusual work that we needed done to match other areas of the house. (I gave them an "A" for price.) They did it their own way (which did not match the way we wanted). They did some additional work (replacing part of an overhang) and did not charge us in consideration for the other issue. We also noticed that they made some really weird trimming decisions. We are not sure why they did it that way and they did not ask us. (For these two issues, I gave them a "B" although the roof looks pretty good from what we can see.) But, all in all, we were OK with their service and decided to ask them for a bid for some additional work. They came by and looked at the work and said they would get back to us. After a few weeks, we called. And called. And called. Today I finally called the office, not the "specialist" we had been working with. I received a cursory email that stated the following (grammar errors and all): "I talked with the general manager and We feel we are not the right company.. Pull out the air conditioning units and patch the inside and outside wall." Had this come right after they came out or a week later, I would not have given them a lowered responsiveness score ("D"), but it has been months.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They had to come out twice to do the job but they finally got it right. The guy came out and cleaned off the roof with a blower and then he put some powder on the ridge lines of the roof. But he put very little of it on it that there was no way it was going to work. I called the company and I talked to somebody at the office. They were less than enthusiastic about it but they said they would send him back out. Then I told them that when they send him back out ask him to take a look at the house across the street which their competitor did to see how much of it was on there. After he left the second time he had about the same amount as the competitor put on the house across the street. But it took them twice. There wasn’t anything that I particularly recommend about them. I won’t use them again because of the aggravation of it all. The worker that came out was great. He was very friendly and I have no complaints about him. He was fine.

The service went okay. I asked him to try to fix a tree that was falling off with supports. He was not able to do that, however. I also had him change a few light fixtures, drill some hooks in to the wall and take care of a chair that was coming off its frame. I was not impressed with his work so I do not think I would this company again.

There were a few spots in the kitchen that weren’t perfect. You could still see some unsmooth areas.

They did a really good job! They were able to schedule the work quickly which was good for us since were trying to get our house on market. It went well and we sold our house shortly after that. There were no additional fees and the price was comparative.

I've used Homemasters before with good results, and this time was no different. The two-man crew showed on time, did a good job, and acted friendly and professionally. Furthermore, they didn't leave behind any messes.

The service turned out fine. They did exactly what the deal stated. They actually did the service while I was not home. I was pleased with the outcome of the service. Scheduling was very easy and all taken care of through email.

Great. They did what we asked them to do

I thought they cleaned up the roof but they just cleaned up the gutters. They did an okay job of cleaning the gutters. For the price I was not unhappy. It just didn't quite what I thought it was, it was totally different than what I anticipated. I was surprised it took them as long as they should have considering the rotten weather that we've had. Everybody probably called up the first couple of three weeks but I was surprised that it took that long. They said they get back to me in a couple of days but they didn't and they just said sorry. The responsiveness to the call was quick but the responsiveness to the work done was quite slow. They came when they said they'd come and they were probably 10 to 15 minutes early. They were nice.

I think they did a really good job. There were no additional fees. The job took 3-4 days. They were very good and professional. I thought they would have started the job earlier in the day, but they usually started around 10 and worked til at least 5-6.

they provided a time-limited service. they spent about an hour and said they could not spend more time. did a standard cleaning (no detail work) then caulked worn areas. when they ran out of time, they said "is there anything else we can do" but said they had no more time to do it. caulking was adequate but rather cursory. for the price they did sa much as they could. wish we could have added $25-50 for more thorough job; more time would have cost too much.

It was fine. They came out and they tried to up-sell the coupon. They scheduled the service pretty quickly.

My biggest trouble was that they had some mistakes in scheduling and they sent two guys to do the same assessment and it took a little longer top actually get the gutters up than I hoped. But of the concerns, I would say it was minor. I would go back to them again. They were friendly, helpful, and did a very good job. When they actually came, they got the job done in a timely fashion.

They did a fairly decent job for the money. One of the gutters promptly plugged again a few weeks after their service and all the leaves were down so I question how thoroughly they cleaned.

They did a good job. I’ve used them many times. They also replaced our roof a couple of years ago. We’ve used them since. The technicians are very responsive and follow-through with the work.

This was for our townhouse rental unit. ?It had been a few years since the roof was last treated, and another company wanted to charge us an extra $100 to attach roof brackets, which actually weren't needed because the slope isn't that great. ?We needed to coordinate with our tenants so communication could have gone better. ?Technicians arrived when they weren't supposed to and then didn't arrive when they were, but in the end it all got worked out and the job was satisfactory and debris cleaned up well. ?Even though there were mix up in the communications, I felt they were responsive in getting back to us. ?I would be willing to use them again.

After the first salesman came out and gave me the very expensive quote I was disappointed and called the manager to discuss that further with him. The manager did not call me back at that time. After several weeks I called the manager again and left another message for him to return my call. He did call me back around 10 days later; and at that time we scheduled his technician to come out to do the ?deal? work. The technician came out and put silicon on the nail heads ? and did take pictures at that time of problems on the roof that needed work. He said they would get back to me with a quote. That was over three weeks ago ? and I have not received any follow up quote on those roof repairs as yet. I am still hoping to receive a quote in the very near future for the repairs to extend the life of my roof. I was disappointed on what the $89 deal covered as it seemed fairly inconsequential for the price. I have purchased other deals which I felt were worth the price; this one ? I felt was more a ploy to come out and sell something.

Unfortunately, after an initial estimate was given, once the work was started, we were notified that the original estimate and scope was too low, and there would be an additional charge for our roofing. Needless to say, we weren't really happy that it wasn't scoped properly to begin with. The initial contact and estimate was made without anyone actually going on the roof, so I'd definitely recommend a more thorough estimate process so there are no surprises later. Once the work was done, the roof and gutters look great. We have had to call them back twice, however, for gutters that were leaking during heavy rain. They've done the work effectively and with no questions, so we appreciated that. And even though replacing a roof is a messy job, I wasn't super-impressed with their clean-up. 8 months later, we're still finding nails and pieces of scrap wood throughout our yard that weren't entirely cleaned up.

We were very happy with their handyman work. They do roofs, gutters and handyman work. We had them come out a year ago and did handyman work. They did give a bid on the roof but, we did not have enough to it. We were pleased with all of their employees. The people in the office, estimator and the worker was fabulous. We bought a big deal from Angie's List. The work was impeccable and we would hire them for handyman work. They are high on roofing.

He was on time, did the job with no fuss, and the moss hasn't grown back yet.

Everything was fine. There were additional fees because our roof was bigger than the Big Deal covered.
