I DO NOT recommend this company. The technician that came was very nice but it was his first day alone. He did not know how to remove the shower handle and in the process broke the handle and the valve (and also broke the drain when he removed it as well). Water shot out of the broken valve and he then flooded my second story bathroom and the kitchen below. He did not know where the water shut off valve was located. It caused over $5000.00 worth of damage to my house. I understand that accidents happen, but the owner was not at all responsive and actually never came to my house to talk with me or assess the damage but sent his manager instead. He never contacted me I had to contact him, multiple times. He drug his feet on getting insurance involved and over a month later I still have a completely gutted bathroom and a giant hole in my kitchen ceiling. And with all of this trouble and headache and time this accident on their behalf caused me, he wouldn't even offer to do the bathtub resurface for me. He recommended another company. At this point, I do too. Horrible customer service. We had it redone by another company who was quick and fantastic.

Mike was very responsive during the estimate and scheduling phase. I appreciated that he answered all my questions in a timely manner. Quinton arrived to the job exactly when they said they would, and the job took exactly as long as they told me it would (3-4 hours). All of the surrounding surfaces were taped off very well and I appreciated that he explained everything I would need to know for after care. The tub looks great and I'm excited to put some new hardware on it to finish the transformation. Very affordable upgrade if you arent looking to tear up your bathroom.

I found Bathroom Surface Solutions on Angie's list. They were one of the three contractors I interviewed for the job. I have a small bathroom (maybe 60 square feet), and it is the only bathroom in my house. I let Mike Lubliner, the general contractor, know that the most important things to me were that I was out of my house the shortest amount of time possible because it is my only bathroom and that I needed communication and help along the way since it was the first remodel project since being a homeowner. The original estimate was just under $12,000 and he said it would take 2 weeks. I sent the 50% deposit via check and he said the job would start on July 6 or 7. I have a friend who does interior design, and she helped me draw up plans for the new bathroom - everything new except the tub, which they would refinish, and nothing would be moved/rearranged. I emailed the plans to Mike on May 18 and asked about getting materials ordered. On June 30 I followed up and inquired about have a custom vanity built since I had not found one I liked, he said he would be in touch early the next week to make a game plan, which never happened. On July 1st I received an email that they would start on the 11th or 12th, which I said was fine since I'd rather have them in my house for the shortest amount of time possible. July 11th the installer, Marko, came and took samples for demo and said that demo would start on that 14th or 15th. On Monday the 18th I emailed Mike for an update since no one ever showed up for demo and I had not heard anything. He called and let me know Marko would be there to start that day. On the 21st I went by the house to talk to Marko and see how the process was going. He was shocked that no materials had been ordered and let me know it could take a couple weeks. I sent this email to Mike: "Hi Mike, I just met with Marko at the house and he said we need to get materials ordered as soon as possible since it could take a couple weeks. I'm feeling incredibly overwhelmed and stressed. The last time you were at my house you said you have a cabinet guy that you would get to design the vanity. I want to get that I process. At the beginning of the project I told you that time was kind of sensitive since it is my only bathroom. I'm really disappointed in the lack of communication and scheduling - my bathroom is demolished and we have no materials to start the project. I would appreciate a timeline and what I can expect over the next few weeks. Also, please let me know what you need from me to get materials ordered and cabinet designed/ordered and how long that will take. Please give me a call as soon as possible." Mike called later that day and we finally began to get materials ordered. The entire project went this way. I never had any proactive communication. I had to constantly call and email to get any kind of communication about the status. Since it was my only bathroom, I moved to my parents' house for what I thought would be two weeks. I believe that since I wasn't around to monitor, I was completely taken advantage of and I'm sure that they were working on multiple other jobs at the time. They ended up finishing the job on SEPTEMBER 6th, or 7 and a half weeks later. The final piece is that I still do not have a working drain in my bathtub. Because it is an old tub it has a non-standard size drain. Mike found a solution, but wanted to charge me $100 for installation in addition to the cost of the part. I opted to find another solution as I felt I was being nickled and dimed after paying quite a bit of money for something that took 4 times as long as they said it would. I also asked if they would hook a water line to my refrigerator, which I was told they would follow up to schedule and I have yet to hear from them 3 weeks later... The work Marko did is beautiful, so it's unfortunate that i have to highly recommend not using them. If you do, I would include some kind of discount rate for every day they go over the time estimate.

They had to come back several times and we are still unsatisfied. My first and biggest complaint is that they only removed some of the brand new bath tub hardware and then proceeded to to a crappy job taping off the hardware they did not remove and they got their product all over the hardware so I just spent $350 to buy a new set of hardware. They did give us a handout telling us this might happen after the work was completed and the hardware was ruined. There were other issues like the surface was so rough after the first attempt at refinishing they had to come back a second and third time to fix all the rough spots. When I talked to the owner Mike about all of this he came to visit me and he seemed to think they had done a fine job and that having his white surface product all over my bath tub hardware was no big deal and normal. I did not have the tub refinished because I was too cheap to buy a new tub..... this tub has nice grab handles for safety that I use when getting in and out of the tub and I was unable to locate a new tub with similar features at the time we hired Mike to do this work. These grab handles are clear acrylic and they now also have the refinishing product around them because of sloppy work. Because of Mike's indifference to my dissatisfaction I am continuing my search for a new tub and I have purchased the hardware again and will not be giving him any chance to make this right because I believe he would not do so. in my mind making it right would involve a full refund plus an additional $350 for the tub hardware and based on his indifference I don't think he would even think about it. I strongly recommend not using this business, but if you do beware. Have a plumber remove all the hardware. Be prepared to have his product dust covering every square inch of your bathroom. I had to wash the walls, the windows, the ceiling etc. Be prepared to have him out more than once to get the surface smooth. And if in the end you are not happy tough.

It was a great experience. Just took a few hours and they we let it sit overnight. Mike abd Brett showed up ready to work when they said they would and brought drop cloths, plastic sheeting and all the necessary items to do their work without messing up the work area. They cleaned up before they left and didnt leave a mess. They gave us their cell phone numbers if we had questions. It feels so good to take a perfectly functional item and restore it to its original beauty. I am so proud of this project and would definitely call Mike if I had another surface like this to refinish. And I am so grateful I didnt have to resort to buying an acrylic soaking tub - which is where we were headed to stay within budget before we found Mike.
Description of Work: Mike helped us find what we were looking for: a genuine cast iron claw foot tub for our bath remodel. We were so happy to find one just a mile from our home. He and his employee Brett arrived at our home on time and began to sand and prep it for refinishing. When they turned it over Mike explained what the markings on the bottom meant: it was the 7th tub built on the 9th month of 1917 by the American Company - which would become American Standard. Mike worked on the chrome legs which were so rusty I was sure we would have to paint them and got them almost 100% restored. He showed me and provided the products so I could do a little more polishing myself. The tub looks fantastic and the claw feet are amazing. We have exactly what we want, it looks fabulous and the whole project was within our budget. Mike was enthusiastic, knowkedgeable, obviously very experiened and provided professional service. He has followed through after the project to make sure we are happy. The tub holds lots of hot water and keeps it hot. I am so grateful for Mike's help. Everyone who sees our beautiful tub is envious!

I can say that they showed up when they said they would. It gets sketchy from there. I was quoted the job over the phone; the contractor did not come out to look at the project first. OK, you have seen one tub you've seen them all, I wasn?t too surprised by this. I asked Mike about organic vapors and dust collection during the initial call. I was told the vapors and the dust would not be an issue, wrong on both counts. I expected some nasty smell, that?s the nature of nasty chemicals, and that?s what is used to resurface a fiberglass tub. The house was not isolated from the project at all. The tech did not attempt to contain the dust he created from sanding through the gel coat and into the fiberglass. He did not use any duct collection system at all with the exception of a couple of fans he strategically placed to blow dust through the house. The sanding job was incomplete, the tech left sanding marks that appear through the finished surface yet neglected to sand other parts of the tub entirely, including over existing caulking, which also shows through the finished surface. When the final coat of paint was complete, the tech loaded the truck and left. He made no attempt at cleaning up the fiberglass and paint dust that had drifted to every part of the house. So, if you?re thinking of using them, prepare to spend hours and hours either isolating the project space, prepping the surface yourself in the difficult spots, and cleaning up after them.
