We realized in the morning that our heating system was not functioning, so we called Able Heating & Cooling after reading other Angie's List reviews. Leland showed up, ready to roll, and went straight to business. The entire transaction went very smoothly, the service call cost was very reasonable, and the work was excellent. What impressed me the most, however, was the fact that Leland was very patient with my myriad of ridiculous questions about furnaces. He even gave me a basic rundown of how they function. We will use this company for all future heating and cooling needs.

Kelly offered to replace the thermostat, but as I had replaced many thermostats before, I elected to do it myself. Nonetheless, Kelly honored both the senior discount and the Angie's list coupon for the visit. Today (1/30/2011) I called Kelly because the water heater would not come on. Despite the fact that he cannot service the type we have, he walked me through some basic diagnostics over the phone. The very next time I have a job within his sphere, I shall call him without a second's hesitation - he is a real gentleman and professional.

I went on Angies list and got the information for Able Heating and Cooling. I called Kelly and he said he would meet me at my house at 4:30pm. He came to look at my furnace because it would not stay lit. He said I had an old furnace that had a very unique system, and he called his associate on the phone to ask him his track record with this type of furnace. His associate said he ran about 60% on this type of furnace. He told me "as much as this pains me to say", that I needed to call someone else who may have experience with this type of furnace. He gave me the name of a couple different companies. He was very knowledgable about my furnace he said that getting parts and repairs on it was going to be difficult. I really appriciated his honesty, and he must have spent about 45 min. checking the furnace out and he was very helpful. When the time comes for me to replace my furnace I will definately call Kelly and his company to do the work. I feel I can trust his judgement.

Our gas furnace would not stay lit. I called Kelly at Able, and he called me back almost immediately, and this was at night instead of normal business hours. After I explained the symptoms to him, he asked if I was mechanically inclined. I said I was, and he guided me through a step by step simple repair that resulted in fixing my problem. I was impressed that he (Kelly) was willing to take the time and patience to offer his expertise for free to a completed stranger. This type of service is dying in America, and that is too bad, as that is what made America great. Able heating and cooling will get my business in the future, especially when it comes time to replace my fifteen year old furnace. I feel I have already more than received the value of my Angies List membership with this one call.

Kelly arrived at my home on time ,checked out my old furnace and gave me the option of repairing the old furnace or replacing it.Kelly talked at length about different brands and his installation and repair experiences with them. He then quoted me three different price ranges and explained the state and federal tax rebates available.We then selected a installation date.John and Armondo did a professional installation. They arrived on time, discussed the installation with me and laid out a plan .They worked non stop until the job was complete. They finished ahead of schedule and left the area free of debris. Kelly came back to the house 7 days later to inspect the installation and to be sure I was happy with the operation of the furance.

The heater in a rental house we own suddenly stopped working. I called Abel and they set up an appointment to come by that afternoon. Since it was an old heater the service tech had to make a second call with another tech familiar with this type of heater. It turned put to be a flame sensor which they replaced. The unit works fine now. The total cost of only $88.00 was a real bargain for 2 trips and the part. I would definitely use Abel again for any future heating or A/C work.

I called Abel Heating and Cooling because my furnace had been acting up for a while and was taking several attempts to ignite. When I called, Kelly told me about the "cash for clunkers" program which allows for Federal and State tax credits. He came to my house, checked out my very old furnace and found that it was using only 3 of the 5 places where the flame comes out. And, two of the three that were working were not working as they should. Additionally, the fan was taking about 2 or 3 minutes to click on. Knowing that my furnace was very old (and apparently kind of dangerous), I decided to take advantage of the "cash for clunkers" program. Kelly was able to schedule installation my new furnace in two days. The crew came around 8:30 am and were done by 2:30-ish. This is exactly the length of time Kelly said it would take. When they were done, they cleaned up their mess completely -- very nice. They also showed me how to use the computerized thermostat. The only thing I might change in the future is that they vented the new furnace out of the side of my house, rather than going through the roof. I gave my permission for this because the room's walls and ceilings are lath and plaster, and going up through the roof might have caused the older plaster to come loose. When Kelly returned for payment, I mentioned that I wasn't entirely sure that I like the side venting; he said that if I decided I wanted to have the furnace vented through the roof in the future, he would be happy to make that change for me. While he was here, Kelly showed me some more features of the thermostat. He also re-set it so that it functions more to my liking. I have the impression that it is important to this company that their customers are very satisfied.

Made the appointment with Able Heating and Cooling. Jack Freedman came out, and listened to my current problems. Actually listened! Then after a walk through came up with several options. He had a laptop and printer and printed out the best options for us right there. He had complete knowledge of the products he introduced. He presented the material and options in a straight forward and technical manner. He also presented the company. The owner, Kelly would check the installation, and check with the installers. This was a close knit team that kept in contact! Jack asked me to call him after we reviewed the information and made a decision. I contacted Jack and signed the contract. We put half down. He would collect the other half a couple of weeks after installation to make sure everything was working to our expectations. This is the WOW factor, because everything came true. A company that lives up to the words that sold the product. The installers were professional, timely and worked hard - all day. There were four installers, two who were here all day. It was like looking at a choreographed removal and installation. They were completely busy, inside the garage, outside the garage, and under the house. And the owner, Kelly did come and check the installation several times. I am supplying pictures so that you can see the outstanding job that was done. Did I mention that they also fixed my dryer vent, which meant a trip under the house. AND Jack didn't come back for the final payment for three weeks. AND he wanted to make sure that my original issues had been addressed. The upstairs was now heating. (No more portable heaters upstairs) and the garage which was warm in winter and cold in summer, was now cold in winter.

I called Kelly at Able Heating the day before Thanksgiving. At that point, our attic furnace had stopped working the day before and the temperature in our house was 49 degrees. Despite the fact that he had never spoken to me before, and that this was one of the busiest days of his work year, he met me at our house within a couple of hours. He diagnosed the problem that two other vendors had not been able to correct, but needed to pick up a part to complete the repair. He said he would call me. He called back at 9:15 pm and was at our house in 15 minutes. He installed the new part, but then spent the next 3.5 hours troubleshooting a very-difficult-to-detect short in the wiring that led to the problem in the first place. Long story short, he did not leave until after 1 am in the morning because he would not quit until he had fixed the problem. As you can probably tell, I was blown away by Kelly's commitment, professionalism and sheer dedication. The charge for his service was incredibly reasonable, given all the work he did and given that he did it in a freezing attic--it was the coldest day of the year so far--on his knees in the dark. I highly, highly recommend Able Heating and will absolutely use them again if the need should arise.

It went great. They were polite, were on time and did a great job. They caught some things that had been missed by a previous service company. It will end up saving us money in the future. We would definitely use them again.

When the outside temperature dropped to 18 degrees F, the water in the tubing froze making the pump overwork. The pump was making a lot of scary noise. I checked Angies List and called Able Heating. He came out the same day to fix the problem. He was very professional. I was grateful to have the furnace pump working with the extreme cold weather. Thank you

Professional and timely installation. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Everything was left tidy and clean.

Jack Freedman, Able's representative, gave us a thorough presentation on the various furnaces available to us after analyzing the heating requirements of our home. We selected a Coleman modulating gas furnace rated at 97.5 AFUE. Able's installation crew arrived as scheduled and did a professional job. They were neat and effficient, making sure to review with us the operation of the furnace and the programmable Honeywell thermostat. The furnace works perfectly and has made a big difference in our home. We get more even heating throughout the house which was an issue for us due to the many levels (zones) we have. The furnace runs very quietly. The furnace is well designed and changing filters is very easy. Mr. Freedman obviously knows his business and is friendly and personable. He arranged an attractive financing program for us and explained the state and federal tax credit programs.

I had called Able heating & Cooling to check our duck work in our crawl space for possible damage. They offered to look at my ducking for about $89.00. My only issue with Able was that they cancelled two appointments, stating the project they were working on was running late. I had set the time for the appointment at 3:30 PM in the afternoon. Finally on the third day they showed up. Kelly Wihite, the owner, showed up and apologized for missing the earlier appointments. He put shoe covers on so he would not dirty up my carpet. When he went into my crawl space he found several areas of damage ducking. He offered to fix it on the spot. I have never been in my crawl space and had no idea what kind of damage I had. When Kelly had finished the work, he showed me digital photos he took of the damage and the repair he completed. I was quite impressed with the photos. I could see the damage, the fix and see the quality of his repair. I asked for a quote for a new heating system and had a computer and printer and gave me a quote on the spot. I would surely use Able again.

From the initial service call to the final installation, the project went very well. The first call was answered by Kelly who personally responded within an hour. Very impressive in a time when most service providers give you a window of anywhere from four hours to a full day to respond. On our second visit, Kelly presented options for us to select from and fully explained each one to our satisfaction. He explained the tax credits available and how he would help with all the paperwork. On the day of the installation the crew arrived at the designated time, removed the old units, installed the new ones, tested everything, cleaned up and departed by mid-afternoon. We couldn't be more pleased with the way things were done.

Competent work by installer who had done a previous service call to replace a fuse. Only problem was how long it took to get the part.

It went GREAT! Helpful on the initial phone call. Gave me approx. price and acknowledged AARP discount. On-time arriva, preceded by courtesy call. Very thorough and gave me good advice. Cleaned up niely after finishing. A professional, well-organized company.

Jack initially provided an estimate in March when I was having trouble with my existing furnace. He was prompt with his appointment and extremely courteous and informative. Able's estimate was about 25% less expensive than a competitor's bid - for a more efficient furnace. As it turns out, I repaired my furnace at that time with a $25 part, which lessened my pressure to decide, but at the same time felt that it was time to plan a replacement before winter, and in time to take advantage of federal and state tax incentives and rebates. I called Jack, and once again he arrived promptly. We reviewed my original bid which they honored and scheduled the job for the following week. The owner, Kelly, arrived with his crew the morning of the install and personally advised the crew on the job details and requirements. His crew was very efficient at removing the old unit and preparing for the new furnace. The installation was a real quality job and very clean when they concluded. Dave went over the filter media instructions and details about operation. The furnace works flawlessly. The only minor issue since install was a slight whistling coming from the media filter cover. Kelly committed to making it right and worked around my schedule to return for the repair. He came over after 7pm on his way home from another job and fixed the problem by making a speed adjustment to the furnace. It was actually blowing too hard. This made me feel good because my old furnace did not blow hard enough. During his follow-up Kelly also provided me with the paperwork to complete the tax incentive forms. I can't say enough about the service and value I received from Kelly, Jack, Dave and the rest of the folks at Able Heating and Cooling. They are good people and real professionals. I have since recommended them to neighbors and friends and will continue to do so.

Our experience was outstanding from beganning to end. Jack the sales person was highly knowledgable and helped us avoid purchasing an expensive air filter that would have not worked in our home. In addition he accurately diagnosed some of the heating problems we had had and reccomended a furnace that corrected them. The installation of the new furnace went smoothly and the installers were highly professional. They had to remove the old furnace and install the new one through our finished basement. They left the area spotless. The new furnace passed inspection ( which was not the case with the firm that installed our old furnace) and Jack came back to inspect the work himself. In addition Kelly, the owner, came the day of the installation to see the work began promptly. We will need a new air conditioner in the future and we will have Able do the job.

From the beginning, I worked with the owner, Kelly Wilhite. Kelly is extremely knowledgeable, full of integrity and dedicated to customer service. Kelly gave me several options to consider with different features and price ranges. Prior to making any decisions, Kelly was always available and happy to answer my questions. Kelly also showed me different types of equipment at his office including the air filtration systems. This really helped me make a decision. I had also had another representative from one of the larger HVAC contractors give me a bid. The second sales rep had a very different approach. He basically suggested one system for my home, a high efficiency furnace with an AC unit. He believed that based upon my duct work, the upstairs bedrooms would difficult to cool without adding another return and more supply ducts. Kelly had a very different take on the matter and made me some assurances. I decided to go with Able Heating and Cooling. The installation date took place about a week later and went without a hitch. The Installation Technicians, Dan & Robert were superb! Very knowledgeable, neat and great problem solvers. Kelly himself made some minor alterations so that a larger return vent can be installed adding to the airflow and reducing the noise level at the return-it worked! The condensation pipes from the furnace utilized a gravity flow (no pump required) and emptied directly into one of the downspout drains outside. Dan had made modifications to the plenum so that it fit and looked perfect. I could go on and on about the wonderful install job. At one point, there were 4 technicians and an electrician working at the same time. Everything went without a hitch. The system looks and works so well. I am 100% satisfied with the heat pump. I was skeptical at first, but am now a believer. Kelly and Leiland tested everything to make sure they were functionly properly. The unit is attractive and very quiet. Even on those recent hot days, I was able to keep the upstairs and downstairs cool with only about a degree in difference. I am also very pleased with the air filtration system. I keep the fan running all the time due to our allergies. There is so much less dust around the house and we can breathe so much better. Kelly arranged for good financing terms with GE. I put no money down. Kelly filled out most of the paperwork so that I can get the various rebates and tax credits which amounts to several thousand dollars. Within ten days, I received a $1200.00 rebate from Coleman..In short, I could not more highly recommend Able Heating and Cooling . They are great. Thanks Kelly!

My experience was the day before our first big summer heat wave, so these guys were busy. The owner, Kelly, came out to diagnosis my problem. He was running just a few minutes late and thoughtfully called to let me know. The fan on my older AC system wasn't turning and had ruined the motor. It was a hard to find part, but he found one and his crew of two guys got it installed that afternoon. They were professional from start to finish...put on little booties so they wouldn't track inside the house...took the time to show me how to clean my air filter even though it had been a long hot day. The owner, Kelly, checked in several times. They forgot to leave the instruction booklet for the thermostat, so I called that evening and left a message that they could just put it in the mail because I knew they'd be very busy with the heat wave. Early the NEXT morning they dropped it by! A good operation...

The day of installation was very easy on us, we were able to go to work and return when the job was being completed!

We were so pleased with the company's immediate response to our air conditioning breakdown before the hot weather. The technical skills were apparent as well as their very reasonable resolution of the problem. We will use them again without hesitation!
