Furnace had shut down a couple of times in the last month so we contacted Able, based on reviews on Angie's list and word of mouth from neighbors, to check it out. We were able to schedule an appointment very quickly, which was great as the weather had gotten quite cold. Armando was our Tune-up specialist and called ahead to let us know when he would arrive. He noted our large golden retriever in the house and upon checking the furnace found a significant amount of dog hair covering the motor. He proceeded to give the furnace a thorough cleaning and checked it for any other signs of problems. He also checked out our thermostat and pointed out things we hadn't noticed about it. We learned a lot about our furnace and maintanence tips regarding frequency of changing filters, and batteries in our thernostat. He was very informative and helpful for any questions we had and very diligent in performing his tune-up. We were very pleased with the result and will use them again when necessary.

I was remiss in not leaving a review when they installed the whole $19,000 system the year before. It's Thanksgiving as I'm writing this, so in the spirit of giving thanks, I'd like to thank this company and its employees. I'm not an expert but I do have some knowledge of physics and engineering, they appeared to know the science of what they were doing and the products they were installing. They did a first class job of putting in a three zone heat pump system, with completely removing and installing a new upgraded duct system in the ground floor zone. I was very happy with the convenience and comfort of the new system. Months after their install warranty should have expired they still came and repaired a small pin hole leak in a weld joint in a coolant line, (things happen) but did so without charge (would have been hundreds of dollars). THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK! They didn't have to legally or even under normal expectations in today's world, I was surprised. I'd definitely use them again and strongly recommend them to others. We returned home after trip to the results of the freezing ice storms that happened while we were away. It was Saturday, we were tired, and the house was COLD. We called Able, and unbelievably, Kelly was in our area and came in about 15 minutes!!! He figured out what the problem was,(stuck valve), fixed it, and then waited to make sure it would cycle back on before he left. We had been told by friends not to expect anybody to show up until the following week! Kelly was efficient, quick, and even took time to explain what might happen, and what to do . In fact, it has worked perfectly since then, and we are very grateful. We will certainly use them again!

We woke to the heat not working that morning so I sent out a few messages right away to Heating providers on AL to see if any were available that day to fix the heat pump. Able Heating and Cooling was the only company that would come out that day without charging us an emergency fee. Our appt was supposed to be at 1:30 but I was told when I was making the appt that depending on how the tech's day went he could be early or later than the appt time. I was fine with that, just grateful that the heat would be fixed that day. We have space heaters that we could use temporarily but was concerned that the overnight temps would be down to 27 degrees and they may not be enough. Leland showed up around 3:30 and got the heat going again. The problem was really minor so all we had to pay was the diagnostic and trip fee. They also honored their Angie's List coupon. We've just moved to this house a few months ago and didn't know anything about heat pumps since we've only had gas furnaces. Plus, the previous owners didn't leave any of the instruction manuals for any of the appliances, thermostat or etc. with the house. Leland was kind enough to write the model #s for the heat pump and thermostat so we could look them up on the internet. Leland was very nice and efficient! I would definitely use this company again and will recommend them to others.

We discovered we had water throughout our crawl space and had drainage work done. Through this process we found out that part of our duct and insulation was on the ground and completely saturated. Who knows how long we had breathed in poor air. Within a couple of days Armando came out and was under the house determining extent of problem. From first call, out for estimate, and completion of work, was all of one week. We appreciated how quick Able H&C worked with us. Armando also provided us with a furnance tune up and explained to both my husband and I how our furnance worked and what areas to keep an eye on in case we have future problems. Our furnance is 16 yo so we do expect some problems. The one other thing I'd like to note, the original estimate was $729 but Armando determined it wasn't necessary to use some of the duct he had planned for plus some of the misc parts that would have been used. As a result, our price for duct work dropped $100. I don't know too many businesses who would have modified their estimate to improve the bottom line for the home homer. Armando and Able H&C are clearly top notch in our book and we will use them again.

The heating and cooling systems in my 1957 house were due to die so I decided to update before they did. I called Able and Mike came right out. He inspected what I had and told me what my options were. We discussed my options and we decided which one was best for me. He walked me through what the system was and how it worked and all of the details of the installation. He also told me about the rebate, discount and tax credit that the system qualified for. He handled all of the paperwork and all i had to do was sign. I had never heard of the system and he answered all questions including some I had months later. Once the paperwork was in place they came to my house and were in and out quickly and left no mess. Afterwards Mike explained how to use the system and was available for future questions. They took care of(filled out and filed) all of the rebates, etc. The final cost will be less than the above $5,500, since there will be a tax credit that won't happen until next year.

Terrific! I am a new customer and found ABLE on Angie's List this morning. I noticed water spewing out of our air conditioner hose on the basement floor last night. The pump had broken. They had an appointment today and technician Armando came to my home on time to assess the problem. He educated me about the parts of my HVAC system and instructed me on how to care for pump once it was installed. I have scheduled another appointment to have him come back and clean my furnace and AC outdoor unit.

These guys are great. The office is very professional and helpful on the phone. I was able to get a service tech out the next day. The tech, Kelly, diagnosed and fixed the air conditioner right away. He is very efficient and knowledgeable. I will use him again when the need arises. Thanks, Kelly!

I have a dual system Heat Pump/Furnace. My house was going to market on Tuesday and my HVAC system stopped responding on Sunday night. After calling around to several providers on Monday, I contacted Able at 9:30 am and they were able to send someone out late monday evening. Nobody else could come out for another few days if not the next week. The serviceman, I think named Kiley or Kelly (my apologies to Able) contacted me at 10:20pm and wanted to see if it was too late to come out. Since I needed something done I had him meet me at my house. -He diagnosed the issue efficiently and explained the possible causes -For my issue there was an uncapped wire in my outdoor heat pump that caused a short, which took out a fuse in my Furnace. -He replaced the fuse and capped off the wire appropriately -He verified that the cooling unit came on -The temperature in my house was 87 degrees and the output from the vents were at 64 degrees after the work was performed. I was only charged for the diagnosis. I appreciated them being able to come out the same day as well as being willing to come out that late on a call. I would definitely recommend Able Heating & Cooling and will call on them for any future work my new house.

Kevin was terrific. I learned a lot about how the system works, which filters to use (we had the wrong size in their....my bad), all about newer thermostats and adjustment to a duct. Kevin was friendly, professional and very informative (important for me). He provided a detailed summary of what was checked and condition of major parts serviced and why. I will ask for him without reservation.

The person I spoke with at Able in my first call was polite and professional. She was able to set up an appointment for someone to come give me options and an estimate to install air conditioning in my house. Kelly Wilhite was the person who came out to our house. He was reasonably punctual and personable. He discussed options with me, then said he'd have an estimate within a week. That was over three weeks ago. Despite emails I've sent asking about status of estimate, I've received no response by email or phone (have checked spam folder repeatedly). I'm guessing maybe they have plenty of commercial work and residential customers are too insignificant to treat with respect or professionalism.

No problems. Responsive sales person, responsive workmen. Showed up on time, completed the work. We're extremely happy with the new system. Never have to adjust the temperatures or schedules.

Kelly and his team installed an air conditioning and heat pump unit. The installation was done professionally and we were told that we could contact Kelly with any questions. One year later we received a free annual inspection of the unit by Armando. He was very informative and performed a full inspection of the system. The system is working just as it should be. This company does things right the first time.

No problems at all. Arrived on time to work. Installers very friendly and knowledgable. Did the installation in one day and clean up was great. Able came by in a week to make sure all was well with the furnace and to receive payment.

Able was able to stop by the same day I called. They gave me an estimate to replace the motor and did not pressure me to replace the furnace. Their estimate for a new one seemed sound and reasonable. I got another bid (from a NW Natural list) to compare, but the 2nd bid was higher and included a hi-tech thermostat I didn't need. Once I confirmed my decision with Able, they scheduled the work for the next day! Kelly also came by afterward to check the installation and answer questions -- a service not all companies may do. I'm very happy with my decision and I highly recommend this company -- I think they serve the entire Portland metro area. I also appreciated the variety of options to finance part of the cost.

Everything went great! In and out in one day when I was at work and never went without any heat. I would recommend them to anyone who needs new furnace and/or air conditioner! Thank you!

The install occured in the midst of the worst winter storm of our season. They made sure that the gas furnace was working whule they had to stage the install. At one point there were five workers and sub contractors here to get the job done. I appreciated the thoroughness of the planning and bidding and installation. We wanted a very quiet and super efficient heat pump. They suggested the one model that would allow the full use of the new modulating heat pump technology without having to replace the existing backup gas furnace.

They first contacted me through Angie’s List. There were no troubles with scheduling. I had to reschedule on the day before the appointment and they were really good about it. They were very accommodating. The technician arrived right on time in the morning and completed the job. I also had them clean the gas fireplace. I even had to leave them there with the contractor and they left me an invoice. There was no mess left behind and they cleaned up well. They are going to come back to complete the air quality test at a later date. It was a good experience.

As usual, they were able to schedule me for same day service. Even though the weather became very bad and the traffic conditions were horrible, the furnace technician still made it to our house (late, but he made it!). The issue couldn't be repaired that night, so he returned first the the next morning with the needed part. The part was covered under warranty, and we were only charged for one trip out (despite there actually being two trips). I am happy with the service we received from Able.

Their techs did an excellent job on the install making sure that everything was cleaned up at the end.
