Sergio showed up on Wednesday December 14th which was 2 days earlier than we had planned. That was great. I left him to his work and later in the day when I returned home, Sergio was gone and all the removed tiles and drywall were placed into 2 piles outside my front door in the middle of the walk way. I thought this was strange beings it's winter and I know what a mess wet drywall makes. We had decided to replace the bath tub so Sergio was contacted again by the plumber and asked to come and cut out another quarter sheet section of drywall. That was on Thursday. Friday the 16th Sergio returned to install all new drywall and a water barrier in the shower. I bought all the tile, the grout and the caulking. Sergio worked all day replacing the tiles in the shower. Towards the end of the tile, he suggested we put a smaller tile trim around the edges. We actually wanted the trim to be 1/2 tile trim. Apparently Sergio had already put up his tile cutting saw away for the day and he told me he couldn't do 1/2 tiles because he had no way to cut the tiles. The mess outside has now been snowed on. Needless to say we never got any tile trim. I told Sergio that we intended to put the shower doors back in. Well in the process of removing the doors, the track was so badly bent that we couldn't use them again. So now if I want shower doors, I now have to purchase a new one. I was mad and had forgot to mention the mess left outside. My husband said sometimes contractors do clean up at the end of the job. Ok no big deal. Saturday the 16th came and Sergio came back to do the caulking around the tub. I was presented a bill for more money than he quoted me. I asked him why and he said it was because he had to come back over and cut out that little bit of extra drywall. I confronted him about the mess he left outside. Sergio told me that everything on the walk way was from my bathroom and if I wanted him to clean up the mess he left that he would have to charge me even more. We'll I have been left to clean up. I can only put so much in my trash can at a time so I still have a mess. The walk way is obviously old and has several cracks and dips in it and now has nasty drywall crap which because it's winter won't be able to really be cleaned up til spring and then it will be in my yard. I don't want my pets drinking this nasty stuff out of the puddles. I paid Sergio what we had originally agreed on against my better judgement. I asked him if he always left the clean up to the customer and he said yes unless a prior agreement was made to include clean up which costs more. The tile looks great aside the fact that the grout was not sealed. Im not happy for the fact that I still today have clean up I am doing for Sergio.
Description of Work: After contacting a plumber to fix what we thought was a leak in the shower ended up being over the years water damage in the walls and the floor. The plumber who is a family friend called Sergio and asked him to come over. Sergio came over the plumber and him discussed what needed to be done. The house was built in the early 60's. The plan was to remove all shower tiles and cut out all the drywall behind them. Sergio said he could do the WHOLE job for $900.00. We confirmed the price and agreed to hire Sergio.
