Handy Hands

Armando was very professional and helpful with good suggestions about the details of the plan, and clearly wanted us to be happy with the result. His bid was higher than another contractor's bid, but for a better-constructed fence that would last longer. His (very friendly) crew showed up on time, stayed late, did great work and left everything very tidy. We're planning to use Handy Hands for future jobs as well.

I loved them. They were knowledgeable, efficient and clean in what they did. They were responsive. The end product was good which really mattered. I am about to call them again.

It went very well. The crew was courteous and very hard-working. They were responsive to requests and small changes of plan. They did a very good job on everything they worked on, and cleaned and tidied up at the end of each work day. Our hedges now look beautiful, and we have a nice new area for a shade garden, ready to plant. The only suggestion I have for improvement would be in the area of communications. We didn't understand from the contract that we were to provide the new soil and the gravel that went under the rock wall. The problem was easily remedied, but it would have been good if it were clearer in the contract.

Took all day with three people working. They work efficiently although sometimes a language problem, but we got through it. Able to deal with last minute requests. Workers stayed until job was done.

Went well - they were responsive, did a thorough job, cleaned up well. We had a bit of miscommunication on the desired height in one area, but was not crucial. It will grow back (more quickly than I can imagine!). They stayed until 6:30 pm to get the job finished up in one day.

Armando (I believe that was his name) was wonderful from the first time we met him when he came to do the quote. He was polite, thorough and timely. His team arrived as expected, were very respectful and worked tirelessly through the day. When I came home, the job was completed and the area looked wonderful. I would (and will!) hire this team again.

He was very good. He seemed to understand and know what he was doing. He did not just trim; he pruned to make them get air and light to the center of the bushes. They really look good and I was very pleased with him.

Armando also has Handy Hands Landscaping. We had him at our house providing a bid for landscaping when we mentioned that we were also getting bids to get our roofs cleaned. He mentioned that his other business, Armmando Construction, does roof cleaning. We asked him to provide a bid for the roof cleaning, which he did on the spot. His bid was the least costly and he was knowledgeable, so we decided to go with his bid. His team began the work within two days and completed cleaning both roofs in 1 1/3 days. In addition, they applied moss killer to the house roof to r***** future moss growth. The team did a good job and cleaned everything thoroughly when they finished, including blowing off all of our patios and decks.

For the initial job, owner Armando Magana interviewed me at length about exactly which plants I wanted removed and which I wanted to retain; he offered advice that helped me decide to retain a couple of "iffy" plants. When the house painter called to tell me they could do the work a month earlier than scheduled, Armando was able to rearrange his crew's schedule on short notice and get the work done before the painters arrived. His crews were prompt, friendly, polite and fast, and they were scrupulous about cleaning up after their work. The work I've had done by them since has left my yard and landscaping looking better than it has in a decade. Their expert pruning has rescued a mature plum tree that had been infested with English ivy and had almost stopped bearing - this year, it gave me more plums than I could handle! They've helped me transform a weed- and blackberry-infested border into an attractive hosta bed, and uncovered my front bed's buried brick borders I didn't even know were there. The owner is prompt about returning emails and phone calls, and a real pleasure to work with. I wholeheartedly recommend this business for landscaping, yard care and exterior carpentry.

They were prompt, starting earlier than projected & finishing sooner than I was promised. They left the site clean & neat. I should have been more specific about wanting to retain a couple of shrubs. They cleaned them out per my original request to reduce the flammable brush, limbs & forest floor debris. . I would be more specific next time, and use survey tape to mark any exceptions. My wife & I are very happy with their work

I found Handy Hands on Angie's List. Armando showed up to give a free estimate right on time. I told him that I wanted to get rid of the weeds and put in a plastic lawn edge to keep the grass out of the flower bed border. Armando recommended a stone border instead - it is better looking and more durable. He provided an estimate via email on the date he said he would. We accepted the offer and work on weed removal began. What would have taken me all summer, Handy Hands completed in just 2 days. All the weeds were removed. It was like having a clean slate in the backyard. Now, I could focus on what I love, growing food and flowers. The cost was ~ $500.00 and it was money well spent. Next, was the installation of the stone border. We had to change the dates and Armando accommodated our schedule. The stones are the same height as the lawn so a lawn mower wheel can roll over the stones, mowing the grass right to the edge. This required a trench to be dug from the north side of the back yard to the south, approximately 100'. Then, a 2 inch layer of 3/8 minus is put in the trench and tamped down flat. The gentleman that installed the stone border was meticulous and the results show it. The border is straight and even. He tamped each stone into place with a mallet, measured the height with a level and the edge with a ruler. He took his time, made adjustments as needed and still finished most of the project in a day. We bought the stones from Western Interlock, the same place we bought our walkway stones, because we wanted them to match. Pro-Bark on Reservoir Road provided the 3/8 minus. The cost was ~ $ 160.00. Again, a great investment. Finally, the fence. We decided on the fence during the original project and Armando accommodated this scope change by updated the contract. Armando provided the cement, brackets, posts, galvanized nails and fence boards. The posts are pressure treated and the boards are of good quality cedar. The gentleman installing the fence took his time and did quality work. The fence is straight and even, the work took 4 days - 1 day to dig the post holes, 2 days waiting for the concrete to set, 1 day to install the fence. It costs ~$700.00 and looks great. I highly recommend Handy Hands Landscaping and will use their service again for future landscaping and outdoor construction needs.

They were stunning and went up and beyond what I expected. They did such a good job, I hired them to do year round maintenance. I have recommended them to other people.

Several employees arrived on a very hot 95 degree day and worked all day preparing the front and back yards for the sod. The next day they installed the sod. I asked them to expand the sod beyond the agreed upon borders which they were able to do for a very fair additional fee. That work was completed a couple of days later. Jesus the owner was on site both days. He also came by a few days after the job was completed to inspect the work. He includes a one year guarantee. I will use him again next year. YIKES...The company that did the work was actually Nice Yard. I incorrectly credited Handy hands with this project.

Armando responded quickly to my request to come out and give me an estimate, and was able to reschedule the work to an earlier date when the painters wanted to move up the painting date. He also came out with less than 12 hours notice to remove some additional tree limbs that were getting in the way of the paint crew. His crew was fast, professional, polite and did absolutely outstanding work on a big, tough job that took most of a day to complete. They hauled away a massive amount of brush, and not only left the area much cleaner than they found it, but also carefully arranged a pile of old bricks as a border for what will be a new planting bed. They were also very careful not to damage an herb and vegetable garden right next to the area where they were working. I won't hesitate to call them again, and have been recommending them to my friends.

Wonderful. They were able to give me a price quote up front; no surprises other than exceeding my expectations. They were able to start work the day after I contacted them, and were finished that day. My yard was a true catastrophe and is now gorgeous.
