I just called for an estimate on installing an electric car charger in my garage. I was informed that to receive AN ESTIMATE, Reynolds Electric would charge me $89! I have never paid for an estimate from any contractor for any job...ever! Providing estimates to potential clients at no cost is PART OF DOING BUSINESS! Reynolds feels a potential customer should PAY THEM for the chance to be hired. AVOID!!

This firm is the total package from Tara answering the phone to Brandon on the ground making things work. This a bad time of year to have an irrigation system fail. Unlike some competitors Tara was able to immediately schedule us for the next day for a service call. Later that day Tara found a spot open up so Brandon was able to come out the same day to get the pump up and running. It was a simple fix due to a stuck contact but Brandon was a total professional and checked out the complete system and made recommendations for future maintenance to keep things running smoothly. Quality from scheduling to project completion, that's what customer service is all about. I will recommend and use Reynolds Electric for future needs!

I will preface this by saying I had an amazing electrician who retired October 2016, so am not accustomed to the usually robbery in this trade. This went okay. The work seems to have been done correctly, but I will never use them again and would NOT recommend them. Still seeking an honest, competent electrician. It was much more expensive than estimated, even after I got them to reduce the bill by an hour. When I called and scheduled, they said it would take about half a day, if there was a circuit available (there was) and the area was accessible (it is). First they gave him the wrong address (which I had expressly corrected via email) and tried to charge me for his travel time being lost. Then, the electrician charged 7+ hours for the work, without deducting for any breaks (required by law), and about 15 minutes for writing up the invoice at the end. After challenging the bill and escalating it up, they finally deducted an hour for the extra time he took because he spaced out on moving the fixture (in the same bathroom) and closed up, had to get everything back out of his truck, reaccess my attic, and move the fixture. They still may be one of the better electricians in town ... but I hope not. Aaargh!

I try to do as many of my own repairs as I can to avoid the sticker shock of hiring a pro electrician so I think the price I paid was pretty much the going rate but it still seemed too expensive, around $175 for a simple job.

It took two days which it really shouldn't have, and they only did the updating of some of electrical outlets. said he put in another breaker, but later when I put in ductless heating with another company, they said, he really didn't. also spent hours looking at the walls and thinking about how to change the light fixtures in my front hall way to turn on, but then said would have to come back for another day. $1000.00 bill for a few updates of some electrical outlets and a breaker that may not have been put in. Not happy.

He spent 2.5 hours on the first visit setting everything up to be able to finish during the second visit. Most of the issues had to do with GFCI outlets, but there were two others. When he did come back a week later, he spent 5 hours installing 2 GFCI breakers and putting in 1 other GFCI outlet. He also fixed the exposed wire. My main problem was that he spent so long on everything the second time even though he said it would be all set up from the first time to do quickly . Nothing was completed in the first visit and I still have to pay for that, which would be fine if he actually completed the work in the second visit in a timely fashion. In the second visit he neglected to take off time he spent with a family member in their car out front. He also had me sign the ipad invoice without being able to look at it. In addition, I had to ask to receive the work orders from the office and those had no amounts on the materials, which were sizeable when I finally got an invoice. My discussion with the manager was not pleasant. He was curt and somewhat condescending. He finally agreed to give an hour off for the time the electrician had not been working. Reynolds does charge for travel time and so I would be aware of that if you decide to hire them. The work was not really completed. There are several outlets that were not switched to GFCI and could have been. In addition, the entryway lights were not fixed though he spent about an hour trying to figure out how to do that on the second visit. I have worked with electricians before on even older houses, this one was built in 1951, and saying that this is an old house is not really an excuse for not being able to fix electrical issues without complaint and in a timely manner. I also felt the price was too high for what I was offered and my conversation with the manager, though he did give an hour discount, was so uncomfortable that I will not hire them again.
Description of Work: The house inspector outlined a number of things to be done in the house and I listed those for the electrician. GFCI outlets and a removing an exposed wire. I also needed someone to look at how the dining room lights seemed to control the front entryway lights.

Our dispatch manager makes sure that all jobs are lined up and in order to keep travel costs at a minimum. Your travel is what it cost for us to leave our shop and arrive at your residence. I don't think Reynold's is the least expensive option, but they came and got things done, carefully working through our inspection report and making sure everything was completed. They installed GFCI's where needed, replaced boxed that were underrated, fixed double-tapped circuit breakers and various things that I don't even know the name for! It was an all-day job and involved being in the attics, under the house and quite a bit of sleuthing.
Description of Work: Reynolds Electric fixed all the issues brought up in a home inspection. They brought things up to code, cleaned up abandoned wire and re;aced old outlets and switches.

I had two experience and they were both great nothing spectacular but they were both great. I would say great there was nothing wrong with what they did. Price wise was expensive ninety nine dollars an hour is really expensive.

I fully explained in advance that an existing microwave was in place. Upon arrival, installer stated the old microwave would have to be removed before electrical work would be done. Installer stated he was not authorized to remove the existing microwave. I am a disabled veteran and unable to do that on my own. While the installer was courteous and apologetic, he left without doing any work. I later called Reynolds Electric to speak with owner/manager. Left message but received no return call. Months later I received a bill for the service call. Angie's List discount was not applied. Reynolds Electric could have either turned down the job, or explained to me that the old microwave would have to be removed before sending out their installer. Neither of those occurred. The only "work done" was the house call. Addendum: After posting an "F" score I received a call from Reynolds Electric general manager. He acknowledged the glitches that had occurred, apologized, and refunded the money I had paid. I was impressed with how the matter was resolved and would consider using them in the future.

We had an electrical issue in which several switches and outlets near the front of the house did not work, and a separate issue in which our heat lamp unit in the bathroom was not turning on. While they were able to fix both problems, it took much longer than I would have expected. The electrical problem near the front of the house ended up being a faulty GFCI receptacle, while the bathroom issue was due to a faulty light fixture. The total time to address both of these issues was 6.5 hrs. Perhaps both of these issues were trickier that I am appreciating here and the 6.5 hrs to complete the troubleshooting was not due to any inefficiency in their work. However, after diagnosing the problem with the bathroom fixture, they had to return a couple of days later to install a new fixture. This process alone took 2.5 hrs, and they did not mention any special problems with the installation. A more minor criticism we had with their service is that they scheduled the return visit to install the new light fixture for a Thursday at 12:30pm and then called at the time of the appointment to tell us they couldn't make it that day after all.
Description of Work: Trouble shot receptacle and removed and replaced faulty GCI receptacle. Trouble shot heat lamp unit in bathroom and installed new fixture.

I believe the trouble shooting on the first day took longer than you may have been expecting. In addition to the items you listed, we also trouble shot and repaired wiring to some switched receptacles. Trouble shooting is sometimes difficult and may take longer than one might expect. We typically set aside at least 2 hours to replace a ceiling heat/light unit. In this case, it took 2.5 hours. They can be very tricky to install, especially when we take extra care to prevent damage to the sheetrock ceiling. I am disappointed that we did not meet you expectations regarding the time. But I am pleased to hear that you didnt believe there were any inefficiency in our work. And it is reassuring to know that we have resolved all of the issues. I do thank you for leaving us a review.
