Terrible, terrible, terrible. I got totally cheated and scammed. The leak is still though but I do have a new faucet I didn't need. And no mask, no COVID safety at all. When asked where his mask was "Dave" said "I don't need one" and laughed. Not only did I get charged for work not needed and not getting the fix I called Kevin Cohen for, I also am now worried if I got infected by this dubious plumber. I do not recommend this business.

The work was done well and professionally. The crew was prompt and courteous, and they cleaned up after themselves. They asked questions up front and followed through with the work as promised.
Description of Work: Re-plumb hot and cold supply lines in entire home. Older home had original galvanized steel hot and cold plumbing and was nearing the end of its life. I provided all wall cut outs in order to run new PEX lines and angle valves through walls. KCP crew was prompt and professional, and they alerted me to issues and questions as they arose.

When Wade, from Kevin Cohen Plumbing came out I was very impressed. I am skeptical by nature so I knew I needed someone who would treat me fairly and competently. That was the gut feeling I got with Wade, along with reviews, and felt I would go with him. Then a noticeably lower bid came in and I was in a dilemma. Money matters. But I have gone with the lowest bidder in the past and learned there really is a difference. Ultimately, peace of mind took precedence over the monetary difference. And I am very glad it did. They sent out two very competent, friendly, efficient young men. They completed the job quickly. In fact , I was so impressed with them, that if they did all aspects of contracting, I would hire them in a moment for everything. Alas, they only do plumbing. I highly recommend Kevin Cohen Plumbing. They even offer a (conditional) senior discount. I hope you have as great an experience with your plumbing job.

Steer clear of this company. At first I was so impressed by this plumbing company. I am out of town and my faucet breaks. In one hour, the service person diagnosed the leak under my kitchen sink as a broken faucet, checked my washer and replaced a faucet in my bathroom. The best $129. I ever spent...or so I thought. Upon returning to town I schedule them to return and replace the "broken" faucet in the kitchen. They did not send the same gentleman out. That was my first mistake. I literally found him wondering around my front hall lost - twice. He informed me he could not install the faucet because the countertop was too thick...when I suggested he drill the hole deeper...it was a revelation...but, he wasn't sure he could do it. This really should have been when I pulled the plug on this fiasco, but I was still convinced these incompetent idiots were "good plumbers". I was beginning to wonder if this guy was a real plumber. I was later to learn he wasn't a trained service plumber...just somebody from the office whom they sent out. Next, I asked him to take a look at a drippy faucet in the bath tub. I came in about twenty minutes later to find he had disassembled the entire faucet, knobs, and shower head....and that he did not have the "parts" to put it back together. After four hours, he left leaving my house in shambles. That is when I called the service manager and was informed he wasn't a service plumber...surprise surprise. I informed the manager I was not going to pay for 4 hours labor just because they sent someone out who did not know what he was doing. He said my bill would be adjusted. The next day they sent someone out to put my house back together. It took them 1.5 hours...all over a drippy faucet. I received a bill in the mail for $495.00....to replace a faucet and look at a drippy faucet. I was outraged. But, the story gets even better. After I calmed down, I sent them a check In Sept 2015. I never noticed...but the check was never cashed. This month August 2016, the turned me over to a collection agency. NEVER use this company...you can fix it better yourself. Oh, I almost forgot...the kitchen faucet was not the source of the leak and I had to call another plumber to fix a month later it at a cost of $250.00....

We are very satisfied with the work performed by the crew at Kevin Cohen Plumbing. We discovered a major leak late Saturday night, and found Kevin Cohen as one of the few plumbing service business open on Sunday. We called as soon as they opened, and a crew member arrived in about an hour. He thoroughly inspected the pipes underneath the house, and diagnosed the issue. The office called us as soon as they opened on Monday, scheduled an appointment for just a few hours later, and digging contractors arrived even slightly early. The same crew member from Sunday showed up to perform the work, which for us was reassuring. The work was performed quickly, and we had water running again by the afternoon. We would not hesitate to call them again for any repair or remodel work. We really appreciate the speed and attentiveness to our situation.

Communication between the representative that came out and the plumber that did the work did not go well. Had to have them come back a second time, and then at least a third to complete the project. (third attempt is still pending) Received a certified letter a lien was to poised to be placed upon my house. Not sure why, no known money overdue between the contractor or me personally. Don't think this is a friendly way of doing business. [The intent of lien notification is apparently required by law when a project reaches certain criteria. STILL, good business practices suggest such notification be DISCLOSED prior to receiving the hateful thing in the mail] and again we're back to poor communication both internally and externally. Did not like the disconnect between the 'can-do' representative that came out and the work that was actually done, well not. The project should have been done right from the beginning and now I face not one, not two but three service visits which I'm certain is going to cost me a pretty penny. [The original plumber suggests the lien notice is due when the $2,000 point is reached, dear God they haven't work her more than about 5 hours total] They are indeed available in a pinch but I do not care for how they appear to do business. I will, unequivocally and without hesitation EVER use them again. P.S. in reading other reviews 'Nick' appears to be a gifted 'spinner' BEWARE

Hello{member name removed}. I wanted to take some time and respond to your review. First off, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. While this one is negative in nature, I still value it and will take this information to the rest of the management team to better asses what went wrong on you project. For the replacement of the CPVC under the bathroom area, you are absolutely correct. The plumber did need to make a return trip to replace additional CPVC under the home. That information was misinterpreted by our plumber and was corrected promptly once we were made aware of the issue. For the fixtures, I apologize sincerely because I do not recall seeing any fixture selections. Again, when we were made aware of this, we quickly removed the valve that we had installed and installed the products that you had selected. When we are not made aware of exact fixture selections, we install "standard" plumbing fixtures in an attempt to replace like for like. The certified letter that you had recieved is a Notice of Rights to Lien. This is the email that I had sent to you yesterday, explaining the letter; "Good morning Sir. I wanted to better explain the notice that you have received. Each time that we perform a project that requires the purchase of actual plumbing fixtures, we open what is known as a “ Job Account “. When we do this, state law requires that a “notice of Right to Lien” be sent to you. This notice is created by our supplier and is simply a informative document outlining the right that contractors and supplies have to place a lien on Real Property in the unlikely event that payment is not received. So to recap, no bill is currently due and no Lien has been placed on your Real Property. I apologize for any stress that this notice has caused an please, feel free to contact me with any questions." In closing, please feel free to contact me with any questions or problems. I am the person who you met with on the project and I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss any issues or concerns that you either have already have or could potentially have in the future. Respectfully, Nik

Gave me a veterans discount for the first service visit. Choose to NOT give me a veterans discount the second visit. Misrepresented the facts so they could charge me more the second time. Service technician was rude and unprofessional. Stated, "He didnt care I was a veteran and that they already gave me a discount so they wont give it to me again. NEVER allowed me to speak with the owner so he would know how his managers were mishandling things. This is a company where the owner does not know what his managers are doing, and if he does then shame on him.

Hello Mr. {member name removed}. I wanted to elaborate on your recent review. In your review, you first mention that we gave you a Military Discount. You are correct. That discount was initiated by our service technician when he noticed your Military license plate as he is former Military himself. On the return trip, we did not offer the Military Discount (10% off) as we decided to reduce the over all labor and materials on the invoice for a savings of over $275, a far greater savings than that of the standard Military Discount. You also mentioned that the technicians said "He didnt care I was a veteran and that they already gave me a discount so they wont give it to me again". If you are correct in your accusations, I am extremely embarrassed and I offer my most sincere apology, however I find this highly unlikely as the technician is a Service Vet him self. After reading this review, I spoke directly with the technicians about your claim "Service technician was rude and unprofessional." They made sure to inform me that on several occasions you, as well as your wife, were very rude to them. They did also mention that upon invoicing you, they had to speak sternly with you just to get the opportunity to speak at all. This was the only instance that they could recall that you could have possibly considered rude. Another point you made was that you were never allowed to speak directly with the owner, Kevin. After asking the entire staff, collectively we can not recall this request. My name is Nik and I am the Director of Service and Operations, as I handle things of this nature. Kevin is involved with a completely different side of the company so I would be the person with whom you would have dealt with. We take customer satisfaction very seriously here at Kevin Cohen Plumbing and I would love the opportunity to work through some of these issues with you. I am wondering, since so much time has elapsed from the time of service to the time you posted this review, could the facts be remembered incorrectly? Please feel free to contact me with any customer service needs. Respectfully, Nik VanNortwick Director of Service and Operations

The faucet broke on Saturday and was spewing all over the bathroom so we had to turn the water off at the street. We had to turn the water to the house off at the meter. We had a hectic weekend and I did not want to pay extra for calling someone on the weekend. I had no idea who to call, and I was afraid the cost would be hard to hear, so I had a lot of anxiety. I asked my friends on the weekend for a referral, but no one was happy with the plumbers they had used. I waited until Monday morning to look at the phone book because I feel like the yellow pages are a last resort. I was surprised to read in Kevin Cohen's ad that he does not charge extra for weekend and night calls, but that surprise made me want to call him. The plumbers arrived within an hour after I called. I was given three choices of repair costs. I chose the most expensive option because it included replacing my very old water heater, which I knew was on its last leg, and I already gathered bids for that event. I felt, based on those bids, that the price for the new faucet, shower and water heater was a great deal. Two plumbers worked six hours and left everything very clean. I am very happy with the price, efficiency and quality of the work and I now feel confident about doing some other plumbing projects that I need in the future because I know a reliable honest plumber.
Description of Work: Removed broken 1970's (three separate knobs for cold water, hot water, and shower) with mixing faucet that has a button to turn on the shower designed in a large, attractive art deco style that covered the three holes. The tub surround needed no repair because of the faucet choice. The shower head and the water heater were also replaced.

My husband and I were extremely impressed with the responsiveness and professionalism of this company. This was an expensive piece of equipment, and we were prepared for some resistance to absorbing or sharing the cost of repair. But we met with none, and KC Plumbing replaced the unit within one week of the leak.
Description of Work: KC Plumbing investigated a leak in the booster pump that they had installed in our home more than two years ago. The pump itself was past warranty, but the manufacturer's specs suggested that an error may have been made at the time the pump was installed. Although the omission of a pressure reduction valve at the inlet end could not definitively be identified as the cause of the leak, KC Plumbing installed a new pump, and the recommended PRV, at no charge to us.

We had water running down the side of our driveway like if we had sprinklers running too long. We called EWEB who surmised we had a leak somewhere above our water shut-off and we should get a plumber out right away. He suggested calling Kevin Cohen. We called and had someone there within an hour. It took almost 2.5 hours for the plumber to get to the leak. He had to dig down about 3 feet and then he had to pinpoint where it was. THIS GUY WORKED HARD. The hole kept filling up with water so he had to siphon it out so he could see. 3 feet of wet, clay soil is quite a task to move on a hot, summer afternoon. I felt he worked as quickly as possible given the conditions. Once he located the leak he went to repairing it right away. When he turned back on the water, he stayed to make sure, god forbid, there wasn't another leak on the same pipe and that the system was flushed. I was truly impressed by how hard the plumber worked to solve the problem and his willingness to go the distance under those conditions. Several times during the period he was digging I had to go inside just to cool off - and I wasn't working half as hard as he was. Twice he had to leave to get supplies, once for the siphon and the other to get pipe and clamps, which I thought should have probably been on his truck. Other than leaving to get supplies, I felt that he did an excellent job. Very professional, no complaining or cursing.. I would have liked it to cost less but with the energy he put into our issue- I felt it was worth it.

Good day. I wanted to take a moment and reach out to you. While we make every attempt to keep all of the parts necessary to complete all of the most common plumbing repairs on our trucks, we unfortunately do need to get parts on occasion. I looked in our system and can not find where we serviced your home on the dates specified. My intention was to see what repairs were done and determine if the parts that we needed to go get should have been stocked on the truck as typical plumbing repair items. I would like to credit you for the additional time spent getting parts if they are indeed parts that we would have typically stocked on the truck. My name is Nik and I am the Service Director here at Kevin Cohen Plumbing. If possible, please feel free to contact me at my office (541-607-9208) so that I may investigate this further and see if I could initiate a refund for the time spent getting parts to complete your repair. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and we look forward to the possibility of earning your loyalty. Thank you for the time you have already spent in sending this review.

Have used them a few times. They have also done work on and around my condo my HOA hired them to do, so this is a combination of all the work. First interaction was to replace leaking water heater. Prompt and smooth interaction. Nice guy who came for work. Second visit to find leak behind shower. Prompt and curteous kid came out but reinstalled shower faucet upside down. Returned at my request to fix and replace shower hardware for cosmetic reasons. It went fine but caulking is already peeling. Condo HOA also hired them to replace an internal water shutoff valve and Nick was difficult to get a hold of and did not return my calls when an issue with their work arose. Left my new vinyl floor creased, walls muddy with splatter they were supposed to cover and fill around valve box was cheap and is uneven and left me unable to access valve. The next day same guys came to work on valve outside and insisted on using my electricity for their tools, even though the project was not on my home. This required me to leave my garage door open and unattended. They never followed up on nor fixed my issues with the valve. When they were using my electricity, they referred me to Nick, who again never called me back. For the price they charge, you would think they would care about their work. Disappointed. Most recently, Cohen also was hired for my bathroom remodel by my contractor and they installed a new sink/faucet and left before checking to see if the new sink held water. I thought that was silly to be missed. I like they are available for emergencies. Usually the guys are nice, but seem almost too young and inexperienced? Lots of flaws for the cost.

Hello [member name removed]. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Whether its a positive or a negative review, we greatly appreciate the feedback. I wanted to take a moment and respond to you personally. My name is Nik and I am the service Director here at Kevin Cohen Plumbing. First off, I wanted to extend to you my apology for not have satisfying your expectations. We strive to meet the expectations of all of our customers and it is apparent that we did not succeed in this instance. I am the Nik that you referred to in your review, however I do not recall missing you calls. I make every effort to answer my phone, or at least return my missed calls within a reasonable time. Regardless, I apologize for not communicating with you as well as I should have. We should have never asked to use your electricity if the work was not being performed for your unit. We supply generators for just this instance. While we make every attempt to leave the work area in as good as condition as we found it, we clearly did not succeed in this instance. I would like to offer to send out a cleaning service to help with the clean up if you are open to this. In addition, I would love to talk with you about any other ares that I can offer assistance. Please feel free to contact me at our office (541-607-9208) as I would love the opportunity to make this situation right for you.

Only one of two plumbers on Angies List that would take calls on Sunday. Because so many pipes burst due to the frigid weather they couldn't commit until Tuesday (but the other plumber couldn't commit until Wednesday and when I called others on Monday, they could commit any earlier either). Only complaint made a $95 deposit for an 11 AM to 1 PM window - the plumber didn't show up until 2:30 PM. Otherwise the plumber was professional and efficient.

It was a very routine job. We called. They were there within a couple hours and got the work done quickly. Tenants were happy with results, which makes us (the owners) happy. The review of this one experience does not really reflect my overall experience with Kevin Cohen Plumbing. I had had another plumbng company replace my sewage collector line. The job was a complete fiasco, start to finish. Kevin and his office manager basically stepped in and cleaned up all the other guy's messes and have been our go-to guys ever since. For property managers, they charge the same rate, day or night, weekends and holidays. This is great for us as tenants always seem to call late Friday afternoon, with a problem that they've had all week. Kevin also acted as an expert witness for me in the mediation I went thru with the prior plumber, and was a great help with that. I appreciate his very matter-of-fact style of communication. He come in; looks; tells you the problem and shows it to me and doesn't try to build the job into something larger than it is.
