I was immediately charged an urgent call out fee. The next day we had a serviceman come out to diagnose the issue. After three hours of diagnostic work and examining all our HVAC mechanisms, Johnny clued us in on what was going on: a board in the furnace needed replacing. We waited three days, were left without heating for four days over Christmas, until the board could be ordered. We were charged another service call plus an additional $500 for this next visit to fix the board. At this time, we were told after a few days our heating should kick in and house temperature would start leveling out. A week later, our vents were still shooting out cold air even though emergency heat was on. We called back Home Comfort and set up another appointment (for which we were charged $79.00). This time the technician stated there was an issue with out Lux thermostat, that it was ''complete trash'' and that it was not in tune with the furnace (it apparently kept kicking it into cool mode). This time they recommended we install a Honeywell thermostat. We took up the technicians advice, forked out another $160 plus service fees, to finally fix the issue. We did this, and still no change. We were running on emergency heat because Johnny mechanically wired the furnace to be using it, so for two months while we were experimenting and waiting for the ''level out'', we saw our electricity bill climb and climb while the house was still not heated AT ALL. Not to mention, that one of our residents has cold sensitivity after cancer treatment and he was living in a ******* igloo for two months over the coldest season (we can't use space heaters). During this time, we actually rang the second technician to guide us through the thermostat programming to ensure that he programmed it correctly since something was clearly up. Finally, I bit the bullet in February and rang demanding to speak to a manager. After an hour on hold, I was passed onto a manager and explained that we were not getting heat, our bill is astronomical and we care for residents who needed this problem to be fixed yesterday. He stated that ''this sounds very unlike them'' and was going to come do a call out in an hour. He came over, inspected everything, and came to the conclusion that it was a thermostat problem and that it was incorrectly wired on emergency heat. He tampered with a few items, ''fixed it'' and gave us the runaround on how it was clearly something we were at fault for. He told us to wait another few weeks so that the thermostat could get used to heating/cooling since it was on emergency heat and that after this our bill should drop. He ended with, ''So since this is something that wasn't a company issue, I'll just charge you the regular $79.00 call out fee.'' I laughed in his face and told him that he could respectfully let himself out and to not expect any payment or business in the future. This company is a bunch of children with tools running around feeling important, charging outrageous fees for nothing more than the internet could relay to you. My electricity bill went from $180.00 to $420.00 in a matter of months during their work at my home. I've had to call another company to readdress what I originally called this company for - I just wish it wasn't over $2000 in costs or 6 months in time. If anyone has any doubts, I have SUB bills, resident testimonies and Home Comfort receipts to prove this. I am extremely confused at how a business that operates in this way is able to continue doing business - do not use them!
Description of Work: A few days before Christmas, I rang up Home Comfort as our heating mechanisms were failing us in our foster home and we needed an urgent fix.
