Staab Horticultural Specialists

Let's just cut to the chase. Look elsewhere if you don't want your patience taxed to the limit and don't relish the idea of wasting money. Their communication skills are terrible. They make you wait FOREVER for a response. When someone came to our home, supposedly a horticultural "specialist," we waited a very long time before we heard from them again. They were unable to e-mail the estimate so we had to wait for it to come in the mail. Dealing with them has been like pulling teeth. We also made it very clear during that first visit to give us a heads up before coming to the house so we can make sure our dogs are secure and quiet. So, we receive their estimate, we express our desire to have the work completed via an e-mail and again, we never hear back. Not a peep. Many weeks go by without hearing from these guys so we just figure they're not interested . . . they're not coming. Then, out of the blue, and many weeks later, there's a knock on our front door which rattles our dogs. It's Charlie from Staab here to do the work. He just shows up out of nowhere. We reminded him that it's been weeks and also we clearly specified to contact us 5-10 minutes before showing up at the door. He said that he was told by the office that he could just show up, no appointment necessary. One of the issues with our lawn is patches of flattened or "thatched" grass. The "specialist" that initially came to our home could see it unless he was blind. We wanted to improve the look of our lawn and as he is peddling him self as a specialist we just assumed he would follow through accordingly which isn't an unreasonable expectation. This is a very homespun operation, which is fine, but we weren't looking for or expecting to pay for Mayberry RFD. Friendly is one thing but not when it erodes into incompetence. Charlie fertilized the thatched grass which doesn't seem to make much sense. The weeds that were supposed to curl up and die in 6-8 days never did. There was absolutely no effort made to improve the look of our lawn. We realize that they don't have a magic wand that fixes a lawn in one application and we never expected a golf course from one visit but we did expect for them to at least "care" and demonstrate their supposed skills as "horticultural specialists." A note expressing our displeasure was included with the check mailed to them almost 2 weeks ago. They never responded. This operation is terribly flakey and mediocre. Don't waste your time or money.

They are very faithful and very good. I would recommend them highly.
