I am marketing my house for sale and needed exterior painting done ASAP. Jake Wilson with Select Finishes was prompt with a fair estimate and got the job. They did a great job from start to finish and even pressure washed some decking for me (no charge) since my pressure washer had broke. Jake was very good about coordinating the work and communicating as it progressed. I recommend them and would use them in the future.

I agreed to his contract and paid $2500 to start the job in a few weeks he kept saying he needed more money for the job and was paid in full before the whole job was finished. He painted the inside of my home and redid all of the wood in my home. He had not yet painted the exterior of my home. I paid $3000 for paint and $275 for refinishing the front door. He said he was going to do all types of detailed work through out my home. I paid for these services and he never did them. I paid him 2 or 3 times for a single room that I would have paint over b/c the colors he picked out were hideous. I had wanted a color consultant to come and pick out colors, but Jake said he was excellent at picking out paint. He went and bought the paint, but did not use it he said I did have to pay for the paint b/c he bought it for my house. I never received a complete itemized bill. I was gone for part of the time he was painting. When I came home one part of the house was painted in nearly fluorescent yellow. He finally admitted that he had never picked out colors himself and that he had his own color consultant that left right before he started my job. He only told me he knew how to pick out colors because he wanted to start immediately and not wait for my color consultant. If I did not like the colors he would charge me again for more paint and it was done so quickly he did not have to re-mask everything and start over again. Every time he repainted he had me initial something, but would not let me have copy of what I was signing. I had not been able to get in contact with him and when I did he told me he was broke and could not financially support his business. He told me that he would come and paint on the weekends to get the job finished, he then told me later that he would repay what he owed me back the $3275 and then he said I only paid $2000. I have all the contracts from him for the work to be performed and all my check stubs from when I paid him. There was never a running balance of what was owed and what was paid, so it was extremely hard to keep track of what he was doing with the money I had paid him. The contracts state that the total for the job was $14,900 and that payment was due upon completion. The amount that I have paid has very much exceeded the amount due for the total. The painters he did have working for him did do a really nice painting. The wood work that was done was not stained the correct color I had requested. His wife had called me to explain that they were having trouble paying for everything and they were going to try to get a line of equity and that I was second person to be paid after they paid some taxes owed. She then told me I had only paid $2000. Jake knew that in January that I wanted my house ready to sell by April and that the house needed to be painted as soon as possible. He said that spring is a very busy time and to be sure that I was going to be on his schedule that I would have to pay him.

The job was projected to take 2-2.5 weeks. It was clear once the job was started that there were greater problems than had been expected. Ultimately the job took over 5 weeks, but is was clear that the crew was not going to cut any corners or do any second rate work, even if there work exceeded the contract price. Quality work was their mission. The house is on a main footpath into a large park and many people stopped to get the name of the company as they were blown away by the amazing work. All siding that was damaged by water was replaced, door top ornamentation had to be rebuilt, molding was added if needed, every piece of wood was scraped/burned/sanded as necessary to complete a perfect job. Wow - these guys were unbelievable. The job is beautiful and people stop to tell us so on a regular basis.

It went very well, considering the weather constraints. Jake and crew were able to paint all 6 doors. Taking them off and painting them inside and reinstalling them the same day. Jake, Jeremy, and Shay did a great job!

Jake was great to work with. He kept us up to date every step of the way. His crew is incredibly talented and super nice. I would recommend them to everyone I know (and will be). Very busy because he's very good, so call early.

They did an excellent job. Their work was very clean. They left behind no scrapings from the house, there was no overspray etc. I was very impressed with how hard they worked and how neat they were. The house looks great! I would certainly use Jake and his team again.

Select finishes is a very professional, respectable painting firm. They did a wonderful job painting our home 2 years ago. They were courteous, timely and did a great job. On top of that, they offer a 6 year warranty. They actually honor the warranty! We've had them back twice to touch up things that just happen over time. We're selling our home and the inspector wanted some of the caulk repaired. Jake came out a week later and fixed more than was on the inspectors list...not because he had to, just because it wasn't "perfect"....all under warranty!
