Evergreen Gas Heating & Cooling

Evergreen Gas is everything I hoped that they would be - professional and knowledgeable. They are not the the cheapest but there should not be any apologies needed for that as you cannot ask for more than they deliver. These guys are GOOD! There is a long lead time for appointments because they are so good (as such, you need to plan accordingly). I recommend Evergreen Gas highly.

He was great. We would definitely use them again. I very much appreciated the fact that they put booties on before coming into the house to protect the floors and carpet. Not only did they do a great job of cleaning out the gas fireplace, but they explained some of the uses that we did not know about. We are new to this house. We just moved in so that was really helpful. He even left behind a little sample to clean the gas cover to the fireplace. So, that was wonderful and tips for maintenance.

The technician came out and cleaned the burners, logs and added some material that looked like coals when it burned. He left the area clean and told us that how we could upgrade our fireplace to be operated with a switch instead of manually lighting.

They were the best price for what we wanted done. Communication great from the quote to the finish. Bill (owner) was professional and worked with us on some unique problems our house was having. He came up with a plan we were happy with and talked to us without pressure. They called and gave notice before showing up. The technicians were courteous and cleaned up after themselves. Evergreen gas filled out all the paperwork for the tax credits we earned with the furnace and upgrades we did. They finished the job on-time. Two things to note. First, there is one technician that's a little abrasive. However, if you can get past the lack of people skills, he really knows what he's doing. He worked out several issues that presented through the project and did it efficiently. It's worth working with him. Second, we did have an issue that showed up when the cold weather arrived. The flow of gas was intermittent. We couldn't run the BBQ and the furnace at the same time without losing pressure. They came over quickly and worked on it 3 different times. Because it was intermittent, it was difficult to diagnose. We finally figured out that it was farther up the line- a northwest natural problem not an Evergreen gas problem. BUT Bill stayed with us and saw to it that it was fixed EVEN THOUGH IT WASN'T HIS COMPANY'S FAULT! Then after NWN fixed the faulty valve, EG came back and made sure it was all working properly. We are very happy customers!

Great! My fireplace looks like new again

I was given a 4 hour range for expecting the workers to arrive. The office kept me posted on the time to expect the workers on the day of the event. They were at the latter end of the range and I was initially a little tired of waiting BUT with that said, these two young guys were FANTASTIC! They were respectful of my home and any mess that might happen. They were very educational about what was going on with my insert and helped me to understand what I needed to do in the future. I was very happy with the service and the dollar amount was well worth the education and sense of peace that my insert was in top running order. AAA+

We were impressed with his experience. He completely cleaned, adjusted and repaired all of the areas. He discovered that some vents were clogged. It is now performing perfectly!

Tech explained that the fan was not working and should be replaced. I authorized the replacement, and was then met with a series of excuses about why he couldn't do the work and that I got a deal on the service call through Angie's list and I should not expect him to do more than diagnose. Even said I could take the fireplace apart, take a picture of the fan myself, and send them a picture so they could find and sell it to me. What a joke!Terrible experience. Save your money and Google the issue yourself.

They were really easy to work with. The unit was in a very difficult to reach place, but the guys were good-humored about it. Everything worked the first time. Price was very reasonable. In a few years when it's time to replace our furnace, we'll definitely call them. (And they came recommended by a builder that we trust.)

Tech arrived on time, spread out a moving blanket to protect the floor, and opened up the units for cleaning and service. Did a great job; was very good at testing the unit to ensure that it worked properly.

His team worked very hard all day long and they were very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Inspector came a few days later and everything passed with flying colors. Evergreen will be coming back to finalize after our landscape is completed and I am looking forward to seeing them again. After the cleaning it looks significantly better and works very well. They worked quickly and did a very good, professional job. I didn't realize how dirty it was beyond not working.

The installation of both fireplaces went smoothly. All parties involved were professional and courteous; they exceeded our expectations. In addition to an efficient and effective installation, they ensured our home would remain clean during the installation. Needless to say, we would recommend them to anyone interested in installation or maintenance of a gas heating unit, either fireplace or stove.

Bill from Evergreen came out to give us an estimate on replacing our gas fireplace. He gave us a quote the same day. They were very prompt and helpful in working through the process of getting a fireplace from NW natural. They installed the fireplace a week later and it all went great.

Over the past year, I have been remodeling the home I recently purchased. I searched Angie's List for a provider to accomplish one of my first tasks - that of replacing the bizarre fireplace doors and unwieldy electric fire starter which needed to be plugged in across the room to operate. I called Evergreen and spoke with the owner Bill Belden. He was helpful, polite, and friendly, came out to the house, sized up the situation and offered suggestions, phone numbers, and started the replacement process virtually immediately. The problem, was solved, and new doors were selected and installed within weeks - the doors are all custom made and that takes time - at a reasonable price. As, the exterior work on patios and a future wood deck was progressing, I realized that our beautiful summers here in the Portland area required BBQ'd food on a regular basis. Remembering what a good job, Evergreen Gas Inc did on my fireplace, I called right away. They set a date, came on the date, at the time they set, provided a short gas line extension from my natural gas supply to my existing range - which I told them I was later going to relocate and they accommodated that move - attached it to the house for stability and located the BBQ natural gas line attachment in a convent location - all quickly, neatly, and at a very reasonable price. I was impressed. A few months passed, and the fates told me in nasty terms that my down-draft forced air furnace originally used at the time of the last supper was - after a professional inspection - in need of replacement - 19 years was all it could handle. I called Evergreen Gas Inc again. They inspected the furnace, the AC, and the site promptly. They noted that the air conditioner - of the exact same age - might also benefit from replacement since replacing it later - and I would certainly need replacement relatively soon - would likely result in an additional cost of several thousand dollars to disassemble and reassemble the furnace to install the required new AC coil. I agreed, knowing that this would be a substantialy expensive item which was needed virtually immediately in the cold of late December. Evergreen provided much needed information, clarifying all my questions and making certain that I understood, the products available and their alternative costs, the order of events that would take place to remove the older furnace, clean up the area, make the necessary sheet metal modifications, accommodate the new code rules for exhaust vents regarding newer furnace installations, and how long the complete job would take. I selected a high efficiency, two-stage furnace, with a wi-fi thermostat - it being more of a necessity in our Pacific North West environment - and a lower efficiency air conditioner for its likely use over the 10 -15 days a year we need it here. The work started, on the day and at the time specified, in a manner specified and progressed exactly as initially indicated. The work was done very neatly, efficiently and quickly. The crew cleaned up after themselves thoroughly - one would not have known any workers were there. The price was very reasonable, considering the excellent quality furnace and air conditioner I was getting. Evergreen Gas Inc even supplied two portable space heaters to ward off the chills of late December during the brief period the heater would be inoperable. They were needed. I cannot recommend Evergreen Gas Inc more highly. Everyone at Evergreen, from the worker's assistants, to the technicians to the owner to the office staff, are thoroughly professional, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, courteous, neat, and reasonably priced. You would not be making a mistake selecting them.
