D R HORTON

We bought our DR Horton home in 2002. Over the next five years, we had windows that leaked whenever it rained, siding that was improperly installed, causing it to warp and crack, and a front porch that rotted. The pillars on the front of our house were not enclosed on the top and filled with rainwater and also began to rot. Our entire neighborhood was on the brink of litigation before the company agreed to make repairs. Our phone calls were not returned for weeks, our windows had to be fixed twice. We now have leaky windows again and it's 9 years later. I would NEVER buy a DR Horton house again.

We had a major leak with our roof within 5 to 6 years. We had a soaked wall during a rainstorm. This company is in litigation with several of the homeowners in our area including ourselves and we would caution anyone who would use this company.

BEFORE COMPLETION OUR HOME WAS BROKEN INTO. WE ACTUALLY CAME BY AND WITNESSED THE DEVASTATION. THE APPLIANCES WERE STOLEN, THE BACK SLIDER DOOR WAS BROKEN AND THE DOWNSTAIRS CARPET WAS DESTROYED. IT HAD BEEN RAINING FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS STRAIGHT AND IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH VERY LARGE BOOTS HAD BROKEN INTO THE HOME AND TRACKED MUD ALL OVER THE CARPET. WE REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO THE SALES OFFICE AND INQUIRED ABOUT CARPET REPLACEMENT. WE WERE TOLD THAT THAT SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM AS THEY HAVE INSURANCE FOR SUCH SITUATIONS. WELL, MUCH TO OUR DISMAY, WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE CARPET WOULD NOT BE REPLACED, JUST CLEANED. WE TOLD THEM THAT WAS NOT SATISFACTORY AS WE WERE PURCHASING A NEW HOME THAT SHOULD HAVE NEW CARPET, NOT USED, AS CLEANING THE CARPET WEARS DOWN THE FIBERS. WE SPECIFICALLY RECEIVED A NASTY EMAIL FROM JODI MARTIN, SALES MANAGER FOR DR HORTON ACCUSING US OF ONLY WANTING THE CARPET REPLACED BECAUSE WE "MUST" BE IN THE CARPET BUSINESS. THAT WAS LUDICROUS!
