Thomas is the ultimate professional! I had a large remodel done on my 1905 historic home. I got 3 estimates from different electrical companies and I only wanted Thomas to do the work because I could tell that as the owner and master electrician he has the most knowledge. Also, when I interviewed him for the job he was the most enthusiastic about my home and the project. He helped me design the lighting styles and layout and I am very happy with how it all turned out. Thomas, the owner, was on the job every day – they didn’t just send out some guy to work on my house. He was always on time and on schedule. He continually asked about my needs and made sure they were being met. Another great thing is that he packed out his own garbage so I wasn’t left to deal with all of it. I would highly recommend Thomas at Classic Electric for any residential remodel project!

There are really no negatives with Classic Electric. Thomas is upfront and honest about what he does, his pricing, and shows a sense of integrity rarely seen with service providers these days. In other words, he tells you what he's going to do and he does it. Having worked with contractors over the years in California and now in Oregon its very refreshing to find someone who is upfront, open, and honest about his business. Thomas was on-time. We re-walked the job, discussed some basic details and approach and he was off. Thomas executed the work quickly and cleanly. He kept me informed about some of the particulars in relation to possible inspections (this being a minor permit job). We have found our go to guy for all future electrical work.
Description of Work: Scope of work was to install a recessed outlet into an existing circuit for our wall mounted TV. Run coax cable for the TV so that we could add an antenna at some point and run an ethernet cable to our closet where we added another outlet for the internet router.

Thomas was awesome and gave #1 Customer Service. I recently purchased a very old home with lots of electrical needs. Thomas came into the meeting and was very helpful and informative. He explained in layman terms what the issues were that he saw. He sat down and spent time with me and made sure I understood what was needed to be done. Unfortunately, due to conflicting schedules, Thomas was unable to do the work. But, he pointed me in the right direction, gave me pointers for when I do hire a electrician and also share pricing of some items so I would not be taken advantage of. Owning an old house, you work with a lot of contractors I greatly appreciated the time he took with me; about 45 minutes even when he knew he was not able to take the job. And it was on a Sunday morning. Thank you Thomas for you sincerity and sharing your expertise. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Classic Electric

Thomas was the ONLY electrician who bid my newly constructed home guaranteeing no sheetrock damage while performing the installation. It took him a week to meticulously and patiently crawl his way under and above the living spaces to ensure a clean install. It was as if everything was done at rough in, the process was so clean. I am thoroughly satisfied and plan on using him again soon to install another kitchen pendant light. He was always on time every day, cleaned up after himself after every step along the way and gave me helpful advice as he worked. I told him following the job that of all the contractors I have hired (and there were many) he was head and shoulders above the rest and I give him my highest recommendation.
Description of Work: Thomas replaced all of the builders ceiling and wall lights, added a plug above the fireplace, wired and switched four sets of wall sconces, installed hanging lights where there were pre-wired switches and boxes, installed rear channel wires for a future home theater surround system, added a hanging stairwell light where there was previously a can light, installed 7 ceiling medallions using no glue or nails and finally added 8 dimmer switches.

No onsite service provided. Tom guided me over the phone on how to replace the GFIs. No money required.
Description of Work: Tom promptly returned my initial call and assessed that replacing two GFI outlets would be in excess of $215, which I could not afford. So then, Tom explained to me why my own attempts at replacing the outlets did not work. No charge. I have not yet attempted the process what he outlined to me. Thanks, Tom!

First off, Thomas didn't charge us for this visit as thanks for the larger job he did to basically make our extensive landscape lighting service operational. We've been in our house for a little more than six years (it's in a rural setting) and we've been dealing with the after-effects of a poor wiring installation that we hope to avoid replacing in its entirety. Lights were constantly burning out, the electrical load was misplaced, yet Thomas came in and quickly cleaned up those problems (again, these problems were the result of installation long BEFORE we'd met Thomas) and our system's been working perfectly ever since. We've used him for a couple of smaller interior projects and we've always been very, very pleased with his level of expertise and service. We'd use him again in a heartbeat.

Kitchen remodel. Fabulous job. Lots of rewiring on an old house, brought everything up to code! Installed all new lighting throughout the house, creative solutions. Meticulous, hardworking and honest. Let me know what could and could not be done. He stuck to codes and regulations for my safety and that of my home. His forthrightness was much appreciated. He explains everything thoroughly. The utmost in integrity and professionalism. This is my second time using his services and I would hire him again in a minute. Highly recommended.

On 10/25, I awoke to find the power out in our master bedroom. (outlets and lights) I checked the breaker and it was not tripped. Other rooms on a different circuit were fine. I immediately visited Angie's list and selected Classic electric due to their proximity to my home and ratings. For background, my wife has been in the hospital since July 2nd and I'm juggling work, family and visiting her and as a result my time is very limited. Thomas replied promptly but would not be able to see our issue until 3 days later. I scheduled an appointment for 10/29. Other attempts to reach alternative contractors sooner were not proving to be possible (I called several). Undaunted, I ended up missing my time with my wife in the hospital on 10/26 so that I could trace out the problem and restore power. I did so after a few hours of testing each outlet & fixture in the entire circuit and located an open neutral (fried white wire that had nearly caused a fire due to a loose connection). I performed a temporary repair and left the light box on the ceiling where the problem was open for inspection. I shared with Thomas on 10/28 @ 4 PM concerns that I had with that particular circuit: 20 outlets and 3 light fixtures on one 15 amp circuit. I asked for when he comes to quote out a new home run from the panel and to split the circuit into two so as to reduce the potential load. He agreed to come and provide an estimate. (I have the e-mail string of the conversations) Unfortunately Thomas did not make good on his appointment on 10/29, contacting me 30 minutes before to say that he would not be able to make it. I had skipped my time after work with my wife again to be available for the appointment. Undaunted, I decided to give Thomas one more chance and scheduled an appointment for Friday 11/8 at 7:30 AM. (I was to be out of town for a business conference). On 11/8, I stayed home from work so that I could meet with him. Thomas arrived promptly. I showed him around the house. Thomas stated that he didn't like the height of the cadet wall heater (not on this circuit) and felt from that one item that all the wiring might be suspect and that doing any work on my home would be a liability. 5 minutes after arriving he left. No quote. 14 days after my original call. Recall that I had already voiced concerns to Thomas on the number of outlets on a single circuit in our home. I also shared that I did not perform any of this work. I had the panel to our home replaced in 2010 - fully permitted and inspected - when we had an addition added in another area of the house. Several open spaces are available to address any load concerns / add circuits. The reason I was hiring an electrician in the first place was to address a safety concern. Unfortunately it appears that Thomas is more interested in new construction. Most homes are existing, not new. While it certainly is Thomas' option to not service a home with a potential electrical safety issue, a more appropriate action would have been to tell me that he was not interested when I sent details about what I saw was a problem all the way back on 10/28. Had he chosen at that time to do so, we would have both saved time and I could have spent it with my wife in the hospital and taking care of my kids. In the intervening time, I had a wonderful experience with PDX Electric. PDX Electric arrived on time for their quote, installed a new circuit (properly permitted and up to code) and eliminated the safety concern. They found a junction box in the attic where it was clear/safe to split the circuit and put in a new run to the master bedroom. They inspected the existing and new circuit. For added safety I also had them install Arc Fault detection breakers (AFCI) which is new code for bedrooms.
Description of Work: Was to provide an estimate for installation of a new circuit for our master bedroom to eliminate a safety concern by the homeowner.

Response from Classic Electric LLC
It was unfortunate that I was unable to provide [Member name removed] with an estimate for the work he wanted to have done at his home. I always want to see the requested work in person because every house is different. I met with [Member name removed], looked at the condition of the electrical work in his home, and discussed with him the history of the electrical work that had been done in the house. As a highly trained remodel specialist with 17 years of experience in this field of work, I determined that this project posed too much liability for my company. For that reason, I explained to [Member name removed]that we would not be providing an estimate for the work he wanted done.

Thomas showed up exactly on time. I showed him what I wanted and he gave me an estimate. When I told him that I had commitments on the day he proposed to do the work he said he could do it right now, today. I really appreciated that. After they went to get some material they started right in. The work was completed in about three hours. I probably could have been quicker if I hadn't constantly been in the way. Installation was clean and exactly what I wanted. Kudos to Thomas and his helper.

Went really well, I have every confidence in him. He is bringing things up to code and getting the proper permits. In the future when I sell the house there won't be any surprises.
Description of Work: Problem solving 1920's wiring that was re-done by do-it-yourselfers without inspections or permits. I bought the house as-is. Thomas and his wife came by to do a general assessment, I had a list of things from the home inspection that I had done. He came up with creative solutions for a switch that turned on both bedrooms at the same time--one switch for both rooms on/off. He addressed everything on the list. One problem is still a mystery but he will be back out now that the contractor has increased access to the crawl space. Great guy, really professional, clearly knows what he is doing.

Amazing. I called four different companies because I wanted to get someone out quickly. My first call back was from Thomas. He responded about 10 minutes after leaving a voice mail at his office. He said he was out at a site but thought he might have time to swing by and give me an estimate and determine the problem after he finished the project he was working on. He said he'd give me a call if he was going to be able to make it work, otherwise he'd get us in tomorrow. He called about 3 hours later and said he could come by. He arrived promptly, was very friendly and professional, did some trouble shooting of the problem and made a few quick adjustments and voila now we have power again. He suggested a solution to prevent it from happening again that I'll definitely have him come back out for. He was here about 20 minutes and didn't charge me a penny. Other companies would have charged their hourly rate just for the house call, even though it was a quick fix. I would definitely call him again!

I called Thomas for an estimate. He came right out, which is more than I can say for the other electricians I called. His manner was friendly but business-like. He and Brian looked at everything, asked lots of questions, and sent me a bid very promptly. Thomas kept me in the loop every step of the way and always asked what I wanted and what would make me happy. Having excellent, trustworthy, competent contractors made me super happy! These guys worked HARD. When there was dirt left over from the trench digging, they asked if I'd like them to put it in the back yard for my new garden. They gave me pointers on how to fix other things around the house so I could do them myself. They even tried to help me with a garden bed I was digging up, but couldn't get the trencher into the back yard. I will be calling them back when I pull out the ugly gas furnace in the middle of the livingroom and put in an electric system.
Description of Work: Just bought an old 1961 house that had an obsolete Zinsco panel needing replacement. The mast was also a disaster, and I got shocked whenever I'd flip a light switch. Yikes! They also installed new circuits and plugs for my washer and dryer, fixed a burned out plug, put in an outdoor outlet, and wired for a garbage disposal. Thomas and Brian addressed all my issues in a creative way. It was obvious they gave a lot of thought to the details of the job. To start with, my tiny house is on a slab with exposed wood ceilings. No crawl space or attic. Also, the existing electrical panel was on a wall I plan to push out in the future, so the whole thing needed to be relocated. Since the mast was trashed, Thomas and Brian came up with a great idea to dig a trench and run the electrical wire from the pole outside my house, underground to the new panel on the outside of the garage. They worked with PGE to make sure everything was done to code. They even lay an additional pipe in the trench in case I decided to have Comcast bury their line as well.

Thomas responded to my call on the same day and scheduled an appointment for the next day to look at the job. He and his co-worker completed the job in under 3 hours, and he made all the arrangements for the inspection. Very pleased with his work.

My husband and I have an old home early 1920s and the electrical was a hodge-podge of the past decades. We knew there were things that we needed, but as a whole system didn't know how to integrate all of the parts to make the electrical work more reliably. Thomas came by twice to discuss options, suggest upgrades and help us determine what choices to make to stay within in our predetermined budget. He was extremely punctual, professional and communicated what was happening from day to day. As with most old homes he ran into some odd situations - like 2 inches of concrete in one of our kitchen walls! but I feel like Thomas took the unexpected in stride and completed the project on budget. Thomas is very confident in his work and there's a reason for it - he's really good at what he does and he goes the extra mile to make sure things are up to a very high standard. I would rehire and recommend him to do electrical work.

Came several times and did extensive research on property, online and with county personnel before making an estimate. Checked into heating equipment to meet business expectations and connected lights, heat and outlets to accommodate my convenience. Finished before my deadline. Mr. Adams was always professional, helpful and NOT condescending to me as a layperson. His assistant, Brian, was as equally hard working, on time and courteous. They also did a side job in the Main house and had a thorough knowledge of the wiring problems in a manufactured home. Would recommend Classic Electric for ANY work you may have - new wiring, remodeling installation or correction, home, barn, hot tub - whatever you need electrically, Mr. Adams and crew is the professional you want to hire.

We needed extra outlets to be wired and installed in our garage so we could operate power tools for ongoing woodworking and boatbuilding projects. We called Thomas Adams of Classic Electric. I admit it. I am terrified of hiring service providers.I don't understand the time or the cost needed for most projects and that puts me (and most of the buying public) at a disadvantage. I am always skeptical and afraid I will be charged for something I do not need or for more time than it actually takes to get the work done. It is so nice to come out of an expereince feeling I got more than I paid for. A few weeks ago I called Thomas from Classic Electric. I had a small job, one many electrical contractors would not even consider taking. I am sure their tyipical job is much larger than this one but Thomas made me feel like I was the only client he was working with. He took the time to hear the details of my problem, dropped by to take a look and then suggested a soluttion that actually saved me money (imagine that?)! He picked up the parts and installed the solution in just a few minutes. No messing around! No charging me for time to and from! No hidden costs. While he was doing the installation I learned that he specializes in remodeling projects where wires need to be concealed. I signed him right up to come back in April to help with my kitchen remodel. He gave me a bid but I truly did not need one. He is my new resource for electrical work of all kinds. I know he will treat me.

Thomas Adams, the owner of Classic Electric is the ONLY electrical contractor I will ever use again! I tried one of those 2 hour specials from another company when I bought my new home and he didn’t improve my electrical in anyway noticeable and ended up charging me really high prices for parts. So, the deal wasn’t a deal at all and nothing important was accomplished. So, when I needed more work done, I went with a referral and I am so happy I did. Thomas installed new light fixtures, sub cabinet lighting, garage lighting, switches, plugs and fixed a myriad of electrical issues left from the previous owner of my home. Some of the electrical was dangerous and we were lucky there wasn’t a fire. I know next to nothing about lighting, so Thomas gave me some really clever design ideas. He even put four dimmer switches in my kitchen (after he put in can lights that made sense). Our garage had two little light bulbs, so he changed them out for two rows of 8 fluorescents. The whole garage lights up now and I don’t know how anyone lived with it before. I can’t imagine getting a better deal from another company and everything was done to perfection and in a timely manner. I give Classic Electric my highest recommendation!
