They tore off more under lament than was first thought as bad. They did a lot of extra work that was badly needed. The work crew was very professional and did a wonderful job.

The overall experience could not have been better. Mark and his team were always wonderful to work with. I don't think I nave had a better experience with a contractor. The initial bid process was educational and pleasant, I never felt like Greg was going for the hard sell. He was honest, up front about issues, and willing to answer all my questions. The bid was the best I received out of four, and Mark's uses the same 50 year GAF system that is offered by much higher priced contractors. The 2 day install - extremely impressive considering the existing roof was three layers (and not an easy configuration to shingle), they installed ridge vents, installed soffit vents and replaced an old domed plexiglass skylight. All this and they recycle the waste shingles. The roof looks fantastic, the yard was free of debris, and the followup service has been amazing. I would definitely recommend Mark's Custom Exteriors.

Excellent modern equipment, crew on time, worked hard and completed work in a day and a half. Kept me informed along the way, did excellent clean up. Roof looks good. Very happy I chose Mark's.

Mark's replaced our roof 5 years ago and it was starting to get mossy. Mark came out and gave us a quote and explained the process. It took a week to get scheduled due to the weather and then had to reschedule once because of another job running over. The guy showed up to do the work and was very polite and professional. The Shampoo took most of the day and he left he property cleaner than when he arrived! there was an issue with the siding that he was unable to fix, but Mark came out and was able to get it taken care of. Will definitely use them again for any roofing needs.

Mark Holcomb(Mark's Custom Exteriors) showed up soon after our first roofing query/consultation request. He went over the roof, attic and around the house and spent few hrs catching every detail and then presented us the various roofing options, pricing and comparison for warranty and pricing. He explained the whole re-roofing process, steps involved. I got several other roofing companies and their quotations and none of them were as detailed as Mark Holcomb. He had every fine details of the re-roofing job on our house and we took several weeks before going with Mark's Custom Exteriors but every time we called Mark he answered all our questions and explained in detail. He did follow-up with us several times and gave us enough time to think over the project. 20yrs old Cedar Shake wooden shingles along with paper were removed and recycled. The roof deck was inspected for any damaged plywood and replaced with new ones. New water proof breathable underlayment sheets were installed. Leak barriers sheets were installed at several places. GAF Grand Sequoia Lifetime Shingles and Z Ridges were installed. New exhaust vents were installed. New inlet attic windows/baffles were installed. New flashings for Furnace and Water Heater were installed and relocated giving a better view to our house by hiding the pipes from front view. Bathroom fans vents were re-routed properly in the attic space and installed with new exhaust vents on the roof. Installed all new plumbing vents. They completed the work in 2.5 days and left our house and it surroundings space clean everyday after their work and also brought their own a port-o-potty. They covered the roof with water proof sheets for the first 2 nights to protect the house from wind and raining. 2-3 days after the installation the roof, attic space, gutters, flashings were again inspected by Mark for any leaks etc. and verified the checklist, tasks per the contract were completed to customer's satisfaction. They did a great job!! We recommend them!! They are the Roofing Experts!!

Mark reviewed everything in detail in advance. The work came in right on the estimate, both for time and budget. And the roof looks just great. We have no hesitation recommending Mark and his team.

Marks Custom Exteriors did an excellent job replacing our roofing materials. Their crew showed up on time with the required materials and efficiently began work. The crew of 6 to 8 workers worked as a team to efficiently remove the old shingles and tarpaper. I even heard some of the workers say "teamwork" as they removed a big pile of removed shingles that was in the way and tossed them into the dumpster, thus allowing them to immediately continue removing more shingles. I was impressed with the supervisor/foreman, he was a hands-on leader and worker and kept me informed of the work plan and progress. The crew protected the lawn, shrubbery and potted plants throughout the job. The final cleanup was excellent with all hands pitching in to pickup materials and debris and old staples/nails. They completed this big roofing job in two days. Overall the whole job (providing an Estimate, answering my questions on materials, scheduling the work, performing the roofing work, and having a manager come to inspect the completed work) was done in a very professional manner.

Called day before to ask if they could start as early as 7am due to the hot temperatures. Of course I said yes. Showed up on time and stayed working until the end of the day. Had the old material off the roof within 3 hours or less. Brought a port-o-potty. I came home at the end of the day and they were cleaning up around the house. I stepped out after they were gone and with the exception of looking up at the roof, you could not tell there had been any activity. Started same time on day 2. Completed job including clean up by 4:30pm. I had 2 bids for this job. Both bids were with the GAF roofing system. First bid was for $19K. This bid came in at $9800. I could have probably had the job completed for less, however I was comfortable paying what I paid. I was impressed with what I read on the GAF products. Not sure the job could have been done with that system for much less.

GAF will guarantee our roof for 50 years because Mark?s Custom Exterior technicians are certified by the GAF company! ?? MCE came on the day they were scheduled and completed the work in the scheduled timeframe. Their installers were respectful of our yard and property, polite, and did a fantastic job of cleaning up. We have already referred our dental hygienist to MCE and highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to replace their roof.

Roofers showed up on time as scheduled, were professional on site. Cleanup afterwards was very thorough. The crew completed the re-roofing as scheduled. If you have never have had your roof re-roofed be prepared for some additional costs beyond the quote. Ours were about $600 above the quoted cost. Mark (the owner) had let us know that until the old roofing was removed they couldn't be sure if any additional repairs or venting would be necessary. The quality of the new roof is excellent.

We got quotes from several roofing companies, but Mark was the only one who had answers to all our questions. He was very considerate and patient with us and took time explaining all the minute details. The crew was also very professional. They arrived on time and cleaned up after themselves. They also made sure there was minimum disruption. . They even replaced a ripped window mesh without any extra cost to us. The work was completed within the time specified with no hidden surprises and we are very happy with the way our new roof looks. We would definitely hire them again. It was overall a very pleasant exprerience

They did a very complete presentation as we were taking bids from 3 companies. We had more questions as we talked to the different companies, Mark revisited us and answered all our questions with no harassment or high pressure sales. Very polite, professional & thorough. The office staff were easy to work with and kept us informed as to the weather. The crew arrived 15 early and proceeded to do the job very efficiently .Left everything clean and neat and the were careful of plants trees and the yard as they worked. They were thoughtful of the neighbors also.

Marks was fantastic to work with from bid stage to the finished project. They took time and did a thorough assessment of the roof inside and out, providing us with all options for a tear-off and new roof. They gave us a very competitive bid and stuck to it. The crew was very efficient and completed the project in a timely manner. The workmanship was excellent and the job site was left clean & neat with all debris hauled away, gutters were cleaned out and yard was swept with a magnet. Marc stopped by when it was nearly complete to check in with us and see what we thought of the work. He wanted to be sure that we were completely satisfied before his crew left. I met with Mark (owner) in late October to schedule a roof cleaning and replacement of roof panels in my garage. He is a very nice person and is polite. He inspected the roof of my house, as well as some roof panelling in my garage. He quickly provided a bid of about $1,878 to clean my roof, which is reasonable given the size and scope of the job. He told me that he would provide a bid for my garage panels after he looked into to it a bit more (he did assure me that they could do the work without issue). After a few days I agreed to the price of the roof cleaning and asked for an update on the garage panelling bid but he had not yet completed one. We agreed to have the roof cleaned in a couple weeks and his crew did just that. They worked hard and did very good work on my roof but failed to reattached my gutters, as a minor oversight. Despite the fact that the work was incomplete, I paid in full. Unfortunately, I had to call several times to get them to come back to my house to fix the gutters and I live only a few miles from their office. After a couple weeks and several phone calls, one reminding them that I had paid in full already, they finally came back and attached my gutters correctly. Overall, they did really good work, but responsiveness was an issue. In December, there was storm and a portion of roofing in which they cleaned and moved to clean my gutters collapsed. Because the storm was the most likely culprit, I did not blame them or claim it was their fault. However, I have called now many, many times asking for bid to fix it and to receive a bid for my garage roof (that they told they would give to me three months ago). I have spoken with Mark on several occasions and their receptionist and I can assure you that they are always respectful, polite, and understanding. Honestly, I would really like to do business with them again! Unfortunately, after several months and many promises of completing work for me, I have yet to hear from them or receive a bid. I would absolutely recommend them for their work quality and on-site professionalism, but responsiveness and punctuality are some significant shortcomings. As I know the business typically responds to Angie's List comments, I would much rather that you actually finally responded with your bid and followed through with the requested work. You have already earned my business by doing good work in the past!

I called because I have two leaks in my roof and needed the repairs done right away because of the heavy rains we?ve been having here in Oregon. I didn't want any further damage as the leak was coming through the light fixtures and down the drywall. They told me they thought they could come out the next day but that they would call me ahead of time to let me know so I didn't have to sit at home all day waiting. ?I asked for them to let me know if they were not going to be able to come out. ?I cancelled classes and stayed at home waiting for them to call or come out. ?No one called me, even after I was promised a call. ?Today, I called and called, and even left messages for them, for over two hours. ?I finally got a hold of the receptionist, and I reminded her of her promises and asked why no one had called, and why no one had scheduled anything. ?While I was in the middle of a sentence, telling her I should have been followed up with, and then she hung up the phone! ?This is unacceptable. ?I called back and left a message and they let it go straight to voicemail. ?I wasted a whole day on this day. ?I would recommend against this company! ?They are unreliable, rude, and unprofessional. ?This is not how I want to be treated by a company! ?I could have contacted any other company in the area that's highly rated on Angie's List.

From beginning to end, Mark's was fantastic to work with. In the bid process, they inspected every aspect of the roof possible. From every square inch of the outside, to all accessible attic spaces that they could see. When they found problems, they pointed them out and explained the issue and how they could fix it. They were courteous in scheduling the job, and even moved the job up one day to avoid bad weather. They prepped my yard by moving patio furniture and plants out of harms way, and covered my flowerbeds and yard with tarps to catch all of the debris. They also had a few guys that appeared to clean up throughout the entire job. As they were beginning to wrap it up, I saw them raking our flower beds of any debris, checking inside bushes, trees, and flowers for anything, and doing multiple sweeps with a large rolling magnet to pick up any nails. Mark's Custom Exteriors rolled in and did a full tear off of the old roof, plywood replacement where it was needed, complete installation of the new roof system, and cleaned up in one day! Mark(the owner) stopped by toward the end of the job to see how it was going, and met with my wife and I to see how it went and answer any questions. I could not be happier with the job that they did, and the service that I received.

Mark's Custom Exteriors arrived on time, bright and early, at 6:00 a.m. and went to work. What a team ... at the end of the first day, the old roof was gone and most of the plywood that needed to be replaced, was. At 4:30 p.m. the crew was heading out for the day. The only sign that they had been here all day was the roof had tarps covering it. Day 2 arrived. Bright and early and on time again. Mark's team of guys are hard working, very polite, professional, and clean. When the end of day 2 came around, the new roof was finished (a day early!!), looked fabulous, and everything was left spotless!!! I am very pleased with Mark's Custom Exteriors and I would not hesitate to hire them again should I have the need.

I starterted taking bids from 7 different contractors to have the roof replaced. Of the 7 Marks is the only one that performed a complete inspection of worked necessary to bring the house back to code. Upon completion of the bid process we choose Marks first for the complete inspection of needs to do the job correct. They arrived the morning of June 2nd and completed the work on June 3rd. With all the extra wood which needed replaced Marks worked with me on cost to replace wood. They also treated the some areas in the attic for mold from lack of circulation,. Marks replace the Roof, added to vents for bath and kitchen, replaced damaged sheeting for roof added vents under the eaves to increase air flow for proper ventilation to prevent future issues we had this time. I can not stress the integrity of Marks Custom as everything they said they would do was done all questions answered and insured I understood everything. Marks Custom Exteriors offered the best and complete solution for the work necessary for my home. Thank you Marks Custom for an exemplary Job.

Mark Holcomb, and his wife, Angie, took part in the nationwide program, "No Roof Left Behind." It is a way for business owners to give back to the community in which they live and work by sponsoring a contest to give a free roof to a deserving family who could otherwise not afford one. The contest began in January. Our family was nominated to receive a free roof. We became one of the four finalists, and received the most votes from friends, family, and the community at large! With the winner being announced on June 1st, 2-1/2 weeks later, we are the proud owners of a fabulous new roof! Mark and Angie were amazing. They administered the contest well, but that is not where it ended. Mark, Angie, and their amazing crew made all the excitement happen! They told us that there would be a big party to celebrate. Everyone in the county and beyond were invited. Boy, did they throw a party! The action started at 7:00 in the morning when the time-lapse photographer arrived at our house. Then the company trucks pulled up. The roofing crew went straight to work tearing off the old roof and neatly tossing all old materials into their dump truck. Angie and her crew of fabulous gals erected a huge tent. Matching balloons adorned the tables and chairs they also set out. Pastries were supplied by a local sponsor of the program, Houlton Bakery. Dutch Bros. Coffee sent a truck and trailer and served the anxiously awaiting crowd. The party continued as two local news channels showed up for interviews with Mark, as well as my husband and I, the lucky recipients. Sodas and icy cold water bottles were also provided and Figaro's Pizza delivered several kinds of hot and steamy pizzas! During the festivities, the gals had bubbles and hula hoops for the kids, as well as tied balloon animals. So talented! Meanwhile, the roof was bare and ready for the new roofing materials to arrive. GAF sent a big truck full of all the items needed to complete the job. A spokesman for the company awarded Mark's Custom Exteriors and Roofing two trophies for Excellence of Service, being one of the top companies in their field among a five state area. Everyone was very impressed with the presentation. . Mark and his crew worked like a well oiled machine! The roof went on quickly and professionally. All of the guys were good natured, experienced and friendly. Hard working is also an adjective that fit them perfectly. As the roofing job neared completion, out came more food. Fruits and veggies, deli wraps, and two cakes to further celebrate the occasion. The roof was complete by 3:30 (yes, of the same day)! All trash was picked up, and even any fallen nails were magnetically removed from the lawn. I share the details of all the trimmings of the party atmosphere because you said you wanted all of the details. Also, the program directors of the nationwide "No Rood Left Behind" should know how professionally and completely Mark's Custom Exteriors embraced the goodness of the idea and were willing to go above and beyond to make it a special day and to make our feeling feel important and deserving. The Holcombs know how host a party to celebrate! You could not have asked for a better crew of workers, with each person knowing his job, and doing his best to complete it. They were fast too. With eight men working at once, things happened quickly. By 4:00, that same day, the tent was down, the vans and truck were gone, and Mark and Angie had gone too, taking their team, the ATeam, as Mark calls them, out to dinner! Job well done. We hated to see the day end; it was like our friends had to leave. We can't say enough about the "No Roof Left Behind" program. It enabled us to have a new roof, something we were so worried would never happen due to our finances. We are grateful to the program, for all the generous local sponsors, and for Mark's Custom Exteriors for taking part in such a worthy endeavor. They are the best at what they do. They are community minded and will always guarantee and stand behind their work.
