The quality of work was excellent but it was all subcontracted out. Mike was our contact person and he was very responsive to our requests and making sure the project was completed. As with all projects, get change orders for all additional costs.

The salesperson and job manager were easy to reach and communicate with on the job site progress. The workers were punctual and performed great work, and I was able to talk with the job site foreman whenever I had questions. The crew did a pretty good job of clean up each day, but I did pick up a few handfuls of nails and staples (a very minor complaint, all things considered). Two issues: 1) Using my outlets without my knowledge, and thus I bear the cost of the electricity usage over 3 days. I spoke to the job manager about this, and we agreed that if it's a problem once I get the electricity bill, they will reimburse me an amount that we agree on. 2) I got a certified mail from the lumber yard where the sheathing was purchased for a Notice of Lien. I paid Mark's in full and my checks were cashed and cleared. I spoke to the job manager about this, and how I want documentation from the lumber yard for a Lien Release. This was a surprise to me, and is a serious matter for a homeowner, especially since I had a zero balance with Mark's. This issue remains open and I will follow up the first week of February 2014 to remind them of their commitment to getting me the Lien Release. I received the Lien Release in the mail this week. It took more follow up than I think is appropriate. I explained why I had issues with how long it took to get resolved, and suggested how Mark's could avoid this surprise to customers.

Mark came and did an estimate and spent an hour with me discussing the process that they use. We had seen a video at the Home and Garden Show, looked over their equipment and were quite impressed. The two workmen, Trevor and Nick, were on time and worked on our roof all day. It was spotlessly clean, and hopefully the protective coating will prevent future problems. They cleaned the gutters. They did an excellent job cleaning up, very responsive to all of my suggestions. It was a thorough and pleasant process. I will have them back for annual recoating of the protection material.

I got three different quotes on siding. The first one was $40000, the second was $29000, and this company was $21000 for the siding and three windows on top. The sidinig is even 100% guaranteed for life, and transferrable. The people were really friendly and got to work right away. They even gave me extra siding. They are completely legitimate and totally trustworthy. I wouldn't use anyone else.

First, the bid was higher than the others, but after speaking with the owner, I was convinced it was worth it. Was I ever wrong. I paid in full up front from a home equity loan... big mistake, as it left me no leverage when the problems started. First they got the color wrong, and then tried to convince us that we liked that color. Not wanting to waste the shingles already in place (they did the back of our house while both my husband and I were out, so 1/3 of the roof was done before we saw that it was wrong) we agreed to no charge for a small window that needed replacement to compensate, likely saving THEM thousands. That was just the beginning. Next they did not replace the all the fascia boards as promised and now as we go to re-do our front porch, we are finding they drove fasteners for flashing into 50 year old, dry rotted fascia boards, without replacement. They did add fascia boards to the dormers, blocking the top 1/3 of the octagonal side dormer windows. It took us weeks to get them to come back and cut them around the window, and they did a very sloppy, job. Finally the gutters. During the original bid, my husband had discussed a re-design of the gutter system with the owner. The current system was in very poor shape and routed the water toward the center of the house instead of out toward the sides. One front downspout was so bad we had it propped up on a plastic decoy duck to keep it from falling off. Also, I had spoken in person with Mark, prior to accepting the bid, and was assured that all their gutters came with leaf guards, and that they would determine what type based on the type of trees nearest the house. When the gutters were finally placed (weeks after the roof) they had subcontracted the work. Those who hung the gutters followed the EXACT same pattern of the old gutters, that we had specifically discussed did NOT WORK. They even made the front downspout too short and screwed the base of it TO THE PLASTIC DUCK to compensate!!! We had to send them pictures as they would not come out and look. When finally they did the attitude was "well what's wrong with that?". Finally they agreed to put in a complete downspout (not including the duck) but refused to redo the gutters to the original plan. Then they insisted we had not paid for leaf guards and that would be hundreds more. Guards were finally placed, at no extra charge, but only after weeks of complaints. Needless to say I would never use this company again.

The work they perform is excellent but the only negative about them is that they have the tendency to be a little on the pricey side. They however make up for this through their customer service.

Estimates were double what others were quoting, The roof quoted was probably superior to what others were quoting but these were small inexpensive homes and one was a rental property, did not need a roof that you would put on a large custom built home. The other quotes were also high quality shingles and similar materials but it was hard to tell what was what because they did not provide a itemized bid, just a description of the work to be performed, the material they were using and all this was lumped into one price.

Came out looked at the job and low balled the bid. Got a bid from Interstate Roofing and Right Turn Construction. Told Mark's we wanted more detail because of the wide variance in the bids. They sent another bid that was 3 times their original bid, but still no detail as to what they would do. They were non-responsive. It appears they just weren't interested. We scaled back the project, doing more of the work ourselves.

No complaints, except that we had not considered that we would need to find someone to paint the new underlayment. Still need some help with that, and with some of the places where the new (less than six months) paint was disturbed. I am hopeful that it will all be resolved soon. Great service and follow-up.

The work began a day later than expected due to materials not being delivered on time. Once the materials were here the work began. The workers completed the work promptly and cleaned the area around the house of all materials that were related to the roofing job. The roof looks great and I am happy to have it done before winter. There was also a concern about the insulation in the attic blocking the vents. The situation was taken care of as soon as the roof was completed.

I called mark's handiman service over 2 mo. ago for an estimate on replacing some siding on the end of my house, some deck work and replacing a window. he was very prompt in coming over and checking things out. I gave him my email address and he said he'd get back to me in a couple of days. weeks went by and I didn't hear from him. I waited another few weeks and I went to his office. I talked to a lady in the office, explaining things to her, told her maybe I made a mistake in my email address, gave her my telephone number and she said she couldn't imagine what happened but she'd look into it. that was also a few weeks ago!! needless to say I've given up on it. I really can't rate them because I don't have an explanation as to what happened!!

I didn’t really have anything to compare their prices to. I haven’t researched it either, but I went after Angie’s List and I assume that it was reasonable. I did not go out there, but I heard that they were friendly and punctual. Their clean up was good too. I didn’t actually interface with them, but I just talked to them on the phone. They were prompt and on time. They did what they said they were going to do. I had to postpone some things and they were real agreeable to that. I probably would use them again in the future.

Our tear off did not go very smoothly. Weather kept us from starting on time and when the roofers arrived we were only 75% of the way done. I called Mark's and they were very understanding and offered to help us finish the tear off. It did add a little to the cost of the project, but it did not delay the roof or add major expense. The roofers quickly moved through the rest of the tear off and the roof went on very quick. Roofers were professional and clean and started promptly every morning. I felt like I had the full attention of the company leading up to the project and throughout the whole process. There are a few minor details that I need them to come back and finish up, but I have full confidence that they will take care of this.
