Description of Work: Activated security system that came with my house which has been inactive for 10 years

Description of Work: Service call to add some equipment and replace a battery in the existing alarm system.

Description of Work: In 1993 I chose to go with Hoodview Security Systems for my newly built home. Rather than deal with a large corporation, I liked the idea that they were locally owned and operated by a husband and wife team. A couple of years later when I added a second level to my home, Hoodview came out and added on to the security system. They bill quarterly a $60.00 monitoring fee with reminders to test the system to ensure it is working properly and update any changes to my emergency contact list. Over the years I've been able to call them, day or night with any questions or concerns regarding the equipment and/or the system itself. (the area I live in tends to experience frequent power surges) Just a few months ago, the back-up battery began to fail (beep & flash of a code on the key pad). When I called to report this I was quoted what their charge is for a service call, to sell me and install a new battery. When I advised them that I was currently on a tight budget and I may have to wait awhile, they were concerned about me going without security so went one step further and informed me as an alternative, where I could purchase the replacement battery and change it out myself and to call them if I had any trouble doing so.
