The outcome is stunning and most people assume the 2 buildings were built at the same time. Hardi plank was used for the lap and cedar shake for the upper part. Even though the hardi plank was wide, the crew lapped it just the right width to match the house. The cedar shake on the house was laid w/ a specific pattern which was followed exactly by the Hines crew. The foreman of the crew noted all the different trim detailing on our house and replicated it as closely as possible with the trim available now. He traveled all over the Portland area visiting the specialty mill-work businesses to match the trim pieces he had borrowed off of our house. When he couldn't find one that matched the crown point where the front fascia boards met, he made it himself! The whole building is an amazing job!

Hines workers did a very good job. There were a few hiccups along the way, and I personally watched the job carefully and pointed out flaws which they corrected. Overall though, they pay great attention to detail and really try to strive to do a job with no callbacks, and though it was only completed five months ago, we've had no callbacks to date. There were some delays in getting the job started, and didn't always maintain as many workers on the job site as I'd hoped for, which drug the job out longer, inconveniencing our tenants. Some of the workers speak little or no English, so if you don't speak Spanish, you have to figure out who to talk to. That was not a major problem with me, as long as someone on the site spoke English, which wasn't always the case. My big problem with Hines is that after they had secured two more contracts with me, they bid other jobs in the same time frame and went with the one where their profit margins were highest. That tossed many hours of prep work on my part right down the drain and introduced chaos into our operation leaving me to scramble during this holiday to secure a new contractor just days before I was leaving the country. In my opinion, a contractor who solicits bids for the same time frame and walks away from their other commitments is not acting in integrity. I find these business practices deplorable. I will never allow Hines to bid on any of our projects in the future.

We chose them because we saw them in the home and garden show, and they have the products that we wanted. We were totally happy with them. Their workers did not use a cell phone at all; you never saw them. The only one that had a cell phone was the man in-charge. We would use them again, and we have recommended them to other people too.

They do excellent work. Our house is not a standard house, it's a very complicted structure but they did a superb job! We used to have a lot of problems with pests and other things, but they worked very hard to make sure it was done right. This is a company full of good people - the kind of people you want to do business with.

We were selling our house and this contractor was recommended by our realestate agent. She said they had a good rating on Angies list and she had a client who had used them with good result. We called and the owner came out right away. Despite what our realestate agent said, I could not just hand him the house inspection report and he would interpret what needed to be done and do it. We spent more than an hour looking at the house with me insisting that he at least look at the inspection report, which he seemed to only briefly glance at. It could have been two hours total he spent there. I thought he could have done the repair in that time. They said they would get it done right away since we were selling our house and had a deadline, which I appreciated. However, when the workmen came they came to the door inspection report in hand and asked me what needed to be done. I could hardly believe I would have to explain to a couple of workmen (who didn't seem to speak English well) what took me a couple of hours to explain to their boss. I also noticed they had crossed off part of what was written on the estimate without reducing the price. So I called their boss and he said it was normal for the workers to ask the home owner what needed to be done. I thought OK, I'll go along with this. What choice do I have? I need this done to get the house sold. So finally, after I'd repeated everything to the workers that I had discussed with their boss, they finally got to work. They dissappeared down the street and came back after awhile with a big old trailer that took them several minutes to back into our driveway. As they unloaded their equipment it seemed their shoes were filled with lead. In fact they seemed to be draging their feet from the time they got there. I thought oh well, it shouldn't matter, I have an estimate and they wouldn't bill me for time beyond their estimate. Boy was I wrong. The next surprise came when they sent me the bill. It was more than twice their original estimate, and my wife and I performed the painting that was needed to finish the job. But, we were selling our house and really didn't have any choice. So we paid the bill and moved on.

Hines replaced the siding on the front of our house but had to wait until the rain stopped to paint. They communicated with us throughout the week and were out on the first dry day. They did a great prep job to protect our property and windows. Paint is excellent, crew is very professional. We are selling our house and if we need siding work or paint work done on the next one we will use them again.

Excellent! At initial estimate they helped us with ideas to help improve the overall look of the house since we are putting it up on the market. The bid was comparable to other bids that we received. They worked on the house for two days. When the job was complete they cleaned up the mess and took it all away. The next day they called to do a final walk through. We have hired them to paint the house once the rain stops. This company was recommended to us by a friend and I would recommend them myself now.

We had three bids and their was the lowest by quite a bit. They were really good people to deal with and the quality was excellent. We were really pleased with them and their professionalism. We are actually doing some other remodeling projects with them now, too.

We were not disappointed. Hines Siding & Remodeling crew did excellent work, did not damage shrubbery, and responded to questions that cropped up along the way. The siding crew was in and out in three days. The paint crew did an equally good job. There was also good support from office personnel on the scheduling, and company President Lester Hines came by to inspect the job after it was done to be sure we were totally satisfied.

HE was wonderful; I am an old lady and he was very respectful when he was in my home. His prices were better than three other estimates. They kept my property very neat and clean each day; you wouldn't know they were even here. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
