Rob's crew did an outstanding job and we couldn't be more pleased. The work was so well done that two other of our immediate neighbors hired Rob's company to do work/additions to their driveways.

I would rate the job a C - it's average. His responsiveness could have been better. He and his crew were on time and here when they said they would be. Was originally scheduled to pour on three separate days, but finished the job in one day - it was a long day for them and we appreciate the work they put in. Once the job was complete and they were gone I had to pick up water bottles that were tossed in the yard. Some of my flowers and bushes were trampled although I understand it may have been hard to maneuver around the poured concrete. The job actually cost about $1,000 more than was quoted, as there was a little misunderstanding on one aspect of the job. Mr. Hawley was friendly and a hard worker.

I am satisfied with the result. Although this turned out to be a messy and difficult job, the workers were thorough and pleasant to work with.

Rob had done a job down the street and the people were very pleased and it looked nice. It was a huge, long driveway. He came out and gave me as estimate on two staircases and a large pad. He poured them very deep and they look pretty nice. I was disappointed that we had not discussed that I wanted the pad flush with the ground and so it sticks up really high. I just assumed it would be done that way. I said something when i saw they had not dug it out and his workers dismissed my request, statement, concern. We then talked with him about making a root cellar/wine cellar just a small one 8x10. It turned out very nicely and he thought of various parts that make it better. Perhaps his greatest failing is that he is a really nice guy and over-commits. There was minimal clean up on the projects so large chunks of broken off concrete remained, fill-in was not done and the finishing doesn't get done on returning the area back to normal. We needed lots more soil to cover up the root cellar and it was finally done; we had waited all fall for it to be done and Rob called for the last payment and we reminded him that it needed to be done, he took care of it in two days even tho the weather was not favorable to do that work. He responds to calls quickly. I was usually the one who wasn't able to get back to him as fast. I asked him for a banister for the huge staircase 8 feet wide for safety and he found an iron worker to make it and Rob installed it as well. He does nice work, and takes pride in his work. He also wanted to make certain we were pleased and we were in general. His workers are very nice and pleasant, though they speak limited english. They did use some of our equipement at times and that was irritating especially when they used some of my gardening buckets to clean concrete equipement and left the slurry in my buckets, which I had to clean them up myself. What I learned was that I have to know in advance EXACTLY what I want and stay focused on getting that communicated to them and also get completion immediately. Use pictures to show what you want as well, that worked very well and sending it on email. These are some hard working guys and they did a nice job. We kept adding things on, like a walkway from the root cellar to another building and they added the charges to our job and did a good job. Even when I asked them to do a pattern on the floor of the root cellar, they did it. I had no idea they had to cut the pattern in rather than the usual way they do those lines. We will use them again when we need concrete for Rob takes pride in his work, however, clean up and the finishing touches at the end are not his strength. If you want good concrete, done well, you will get it. Now I wish I had made the root cellar twice as large, it is awesome! The stairs are great, the pad works fine.

Rob Hawley was very friendly, pleasant and professional to work with. He was timely in returning calls and making an appointment for an estimate. He kept us informed of when the job could be completed. He worked with our ideas and offered advice. He and his great crew had the job done in three days and even stayed late to finish when our extra thick concrete driveway made the demolition job take longer than expected. We are very pleased with the whole process and the results. The crew took care to work around our sprinkler system and existing landscaping. We would not hesitate to hire Rob and Concrete Plus again in the future and would recommend his company to others in need of concrete work. Robert HawleyConcrete Plus503-932-3812CCB: 119524
Description of Work: After giving us a free estimate of costs, Rob (Robert) Hawley, owner of Concrete Plus, replaced our crumbling driveway and front walkway to the front door. He demolished and hauled away the old concrete and poured and finished the new concrete. He replaced part of the sidewalk and the approach to the driveway from the street. Since our driveway slopes down toward our garage, Rob installed an improved drain. The work was all accomplished in three days.

Robert and his crew were great. After several other quotes, Robert came in at a resonable price. The quality exceeded our expectations. The job was done quickly and professionally. We would certainly recommend him for a job. The only thing I can critique is it took him time to respond to my calls. He seemed busy with several other jobs, but that didn't effect his punctuality, work or attention to the end product. UPDATE: When this job was done we were expecting our first kid any day. We now have our second and I can finally say I am done dealing with Mr. Hawley. It was a struggle. On the final day of clean up, one of his workers wheeled the wheelbarrow right over the fresh concrete, leaving very noticeable tire tracks the entire length of the walkway. After following his advice of waiting a few months to see if it went away we started a very long 1.5 year game of phone tag / compensation. It took a long time before we could get his worker back out to try and acid wash the concrete. First his worker told me he had never done an acid wash. Second we researched and found out acid washing a brushed finished concrete could ruin the finish. It did. Now, we had tire marks and brown stains the entire length of the walkway. Again, Mr. Hawley advised to wait to see if it faded. It hasn't. The next almost year, I spent leaving messages every 1 - 4 weeks for him. Finally I got a hold of him and we agreed on some compensation for the mess. It wasn't until several more months that I ever recieved the compensation. On a side note. Mr. Hawley explained he had had a rough time lately with surgery and other personal matters. Even though it was a struggle througout the past year and a half, I still beleive him. He remains a fairly upstanding man to me. He even delivered the compensation in person with an appology. So, all in all, we had a horrible string of luck together. If his worker had never rolled over the concrete none of this would have to be written and I would have given Mr. Hawley mostly A's. His only downfall prior to this ordeal was his slow response times to messages and lack of answering his phone. I suppose I still recommend him. Just don't let Jose roll over your concrete on the final day.
