We love the new bathroom! John proposed several changes that are working so well, including new lighting where we had none before and such a quiet fan that it doesn't wake people in adjacent bedrooms. He checked in with us on all details, including vanity, flooring, paint colors and fixtures. The new insulation has helped balance our internal house temperatures during the hot and cold seasons. He did quality work for us and kept his promises and schedules.
Description of Work: We had a black mold problem in our elder home, upstairs master bathroom. I wanted a bathroom remodel that included a ventilation fan (we didn't have one) and mold abatement. John remodeled the bathroom completely, modernizing and mold-proofing it. He also did a complete attic and roof inspection, found and repaired some issues that we had and arranged for new insulation.

As a new homeowner to an older home, we were wanting to take a wall down (demolition). The wall is approximately 14'x9' and is not a bearing wall. With all the Angie's List reviews, I was anticipating a good response from Plumbline but the price he quoted was $3700.00. I called another license, insured, and bonded company and they gave me an estimate of $500.00 after inspecting the wall (with additional costs for an electrician). I'm really surprised at Plumbline's estimate.
Description of Work: Gave an estimate.

Response from Plumb Line Construction & Maintenance
I did not talk with the member personally; she was the individual I spoke with. Apparently there were some communication problems between us. I was under the impression the 2nd wall "which is a bearing wall" was coming down as well. This proposal included all ceiling repairs/flooring/electrical/post & beams and so on. I wish she would have called me to discuss this matter before posting a negative review such as this. John Burch Owner/Operator PLC

John kept within our budget, was patient and adjusted his schedule when the floor company delivered the wrong flooring and then forgot molding. This was not John's fault, but poor communication within the floor company. Once all of the floor was brought into the house and acclimated (which IS necessary by the way) to the temperature of the house, John quickly had the job done and the floor is quite, cozy and throughout the winter actually helped with our heating bill. I believe upgrading to the heavy quite pad (per John's recommendation) is the reason for this. I love my floor and again wish I could attach pictures!
Description of Work: We decided to removed ALL carpet in the house and replace with Laminate Flooring. John came in and removed all carpet and prepped the floors for 1100 sq feet of new laminate flooring. This included the bedrooms, hallway and living room. He installed a quiet walk pad with base board trim. We installed 2 colors. A darker color for the bedrooms and a light oak for the living room and hallway. This also included the closets in the bedroom, and towel closets in the hallway.
Our house has never received so many compliments from our neighbors as going from destroyer gray, to a beautiful olive/green with white trim was just what it needed. John even put white trim around the garage doors. The White gutters are gorgeous, and you would never know that the garage doors were originally looking like scrap lumber and now look brand new. I am so happy with John's work, his bidding that came in with other bids and the difference that made me go with John was that he was honest, and showed me how bad the dry rot really was. I was very angry with the other contractors who told me that either it was okay or that there was no dry rot. Again, I wish I could attach before and after pictures.
Description of Work: Our 45 year old house had not been painted for approximately 20 years. We sent out for bids on painting with 2 colors for our 1300 sq foot house and 1200 sq foot shop. This included cleaning the metal roof, cleaning the gutters, scrapping, spot primer filling and using life time paint. During the bidding, John discovered several beams, posts, and facia that were rotten from dry rot (other contractors did not catch this or said it wasn't bad enough to replace). The dry rot was so severe that the material for some of the main supports were literally sawdust inside. John not only replaced several main beams with treated posts, but he also anchored them to the cement. We also discovered that the porch railing was dry rotted and John removed and replace the railing and put up vinyl lattice for privacy. When John gave us the bid to paint the shop, there were also several areas of dry rot in the fascia, garage doors, and eves. He removed and replaced all of the dry rot on the shop as well as repairing garage doors that had broken springs, glass windows and installing a new "man door. As our garage was in need of new gutters, John also removed and replaced gutters with a continuous gutter, including down spouts. For our garage, John also installed a new storm/screen door for the "man door" leading into the garage.
John is wonderful at communication and being extremely timely. He kept me informed of the progress of the project and kept within budget (which is nice). My house is 45 years old and rather than rebuilding, we opted to remodel. John not only removed and repaired dry rotted areas, but he made improvements so that dry rot will not happen again by using paint that was extra thick and caulking that would last for years. He is easy to work with, flexible with work projects, and always cleaned up after each day and left things as he found them. He is very conscientious. I wish I could attach a picture of my beautiful porch, roof, and chicken coops!
Description of Work: John Burch Graveled my entire driveway “4900 square feet area” with 39 tons 1 ½ to 2” thick of ¾ crushed rock. I am a chicken fanatic and because of the excessive rain, taking care of my chickens was becoming hazardous. He removed all of the muddy material around the chicken coops (12 coops) and graveled paths so I could easily travel from one to the other without fear of slipping. He also graveled paths to my patio, and garage and put fabric down to prevent organic growth from growing through. John also Installed 270 linear feet of white seamless continuous gutters, and all downspouts to home as well as R&R 12’ of dry-rot fascia to front of home, install 24’ of new drip edge flashing to prevent further dry-rot, includes patio cover. He repaired my removed and replaced my patio cover with #4 2x6x16 SPF, #2 2x6x12, #4 sheets of ½ CDX these materials replace the badly dry-rotted areas. 2.5 squares of 30 year architectural roofing, #1 roll 15# felt, #3- 1 ½ x 1 ½ galvanized flashing, #2 galvanized gutter drip edge flashing. He also R&R my patio light with a 2x4 florescent light As my mail box was in disrepair, he also Installed a new 4x4 pressure treated mail box post and attaché existing mail box.
